Guest drewc Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 EDIT: drewc, is that fire station the one similar to the one pictured on the front page of www.eurobricks.com? It could be from the series for small children since in the set list, there were also a couple of junior sets. It could be "4664 fire-brigade headquarters". The fire station is marked 7240 and the fire truck is marked 7239. They both look just as pictured. It does appear to be more junior by the size of the box. Cool! Did you buy any? If you did is there any chance you could post pics some time soon? I was not allowed to purchase one last night (Tuesday night). I was told they would go on sale today (Wednesday). The prices were marked in our computer as $19.95 U.S. and $29.95 U.S. I will try to get some pics for you. Are those sets you say are on Europe's site, is that the Lego site or the Shop at Home site? The sets are at the Lego Imagination Center in Orlando, FL. USA. I work at the store but I do not know when S@H will have the sets. Interesting Fact: The Lego retail stores and the S@H website are two different divisions owned by the same parent company, however, there was a law suit between the two divisions and we are not even allowed to tell the customers that the S@H site exists. I will keep you updated. BTW... Great site! Deflected from FBTB
Orlego Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 I have changed my user name from my real name to Orlego to protect my job security (just in case). I just work part-time, but I love my job. Thanks D

David85 Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Question..... Aren't the 4+, 4 Jr., Jack Stone, whatever they are called boxes only bigger because the pieces are bigger? If so many Lego is trying to make it look like you get more pieces, or maybe you do get a lot of pieces. :)
ApophisV Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 The box of the orient palace I got a few days ago was also bigger than normal boxes because of the large white onion shaped dome....
Orlego Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 No problem drew ! Welcome here ! I hope you will enjoy our website Thank you Jipay, and thanks for the great site! Aren't the 4+, 4 Jr., Jack Stone, whatever they are called boxes only bigger because the pieces are bigger? If so many Lego is trying to make it look like you get more pieces, or maybe you do get a lot of pieces. I think you may be right David. Just like every other company is starting to do, use marketing deception. The LIC's have everything in the store by age group and we have no room to add 5+, so we are using the former Lego Legend area to display the new sets.
ApophisV Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 LIC's What does LIC mean?!? I can figure out the meaning of the "L", but the rest is mysterious to me.... ;)
ApophisV Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Oh, and another thing: Great avatar, Orlego!!! :D
Orlego Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 What does LIC mean?!? I can figure out the meaning of the "L", but the rest is mysterious to me.... Sorry for the slang ApophisV. LIC is short for Lego Imagination Center. I don't know if Lego has any outside of the US, but that is what they call the Lego owned retail stores here.

ApophisV Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 I don't know if Lego has any outside of the US, but that is what they call the Lego owned retail stores here. Erm... here they are called... Lego Stores.... :D
David85 Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Oh yes, the Lego Imagination Center. I went there, smaller than I thought. The Lego Stores are called Lego Stores here too, the Lego Imagination Center is in Disney World Marketplace and is special.

I don't know if Lego has any outside of the US, but that is what they call the Lego owned retail stores here. Europe doesn't have that many Lego store, outside Germany and Denmark. You seem to have a nice job, even if all those boxes could look like a permanant temptation island to you. Hope you can resist :-D Lego does not always use the big boxes. For the UCS lego sets for instance, the boxes are full. I think it's just a question of public : kids want big things because they are more receptive to marketing while adults knows that some small packaging could contain precious items (like a ring or a neckless).

You are right David, I got caught up in all the Disney *cough*magic*cough*. The store wants us to refer to them as Lego Imagination Centers, even though our store is the only store that uses the name. I guess it sounds more "magical" to Disney guest. Our store is about to start a 2 mil. renovation that should give us a little more room and update the outdated look of the store. You seem to have a nice job, even if all those boxes could look like a permanant temptation island to you. Hope you can resist. That is the hardest part of my job, trying to resist blowing my paycheck every week. I don't even want to think about the new sets :| , but who am I kidding. Lego does not always use the big boxes. For the UCS lego sets for instance, the boxes are full. I think it's just a question of public : kids want big things because they are more receptive to marketing while adults knows that some small packaging could contain precious items (like a ring or a neckless). True, but what is this thing about "kids want big things because they are more receptive to marketing"... have you seen the size box the UCS Star Destroyer comes in??? I love huge boxes!!! :D
KimT Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Sweet new xpods....can't wait. I've just bought the black through shop at home. There's a page with people's own xpod creations on: www.x-podworld.com
moom Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 On www.LEGOfactory.com, there seems to be evidence supporting my guess that the new part in set #7239 is a 1x3 round slope, with a 'plate 1x1 sized'-cutout at the bottom of one end. The new Lego Designer Program, to be found in the second "building" of the virtual factory complex, contains a part exactly as I described. With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen
David85 Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Well thank you. I could never tell by the photo if it was 1x3 or 1x2. I think 1x3 will be better. Can't wait for the Fire station and trucj, and it's been a long time since I felt that way.
David85 Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Brickshelf has the names of the X-Pod sets. 4339 - Designer Set - Aqua Pod Light blue pod Not yet released. 4338 - Designer Set - Monster Pod Purple pod Not yet released. 4337 - Designer Set - Dragon Pod Lime green pod Not yet released. 4413 - Designer Set - Arachno Pod Orange pod Not yet released.
jonfett Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Great! So it does look like they will be a creature theme. Any ideas when these will come out? Do you think by christmas?? Jon.
Jipay Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 it's normal for them to have the names. it's just written on the packaging ! ^^
David85 Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Who knows when these will come out, for you guys they will probably be out by years end, for me, be lucky I get them before next Christmas.
jonfett Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Thanks for posting those packages pictures jipay. They look very nice, a bit different from the older style. You know what some people say, the package sells the product.. well it does for kids who like to look at the big colourful boxes. Jon.
