Vote: Private Dan Gale / Def

I am sorry, my friend. Unless you're a deserter. If you are a deserter, then I am not sorry.

Private Gale, ... you have accused the Provost Guards and then retreated only to move on to our Lt., again without any presented evidence or even the slightest bit of circumstance to point at.

And that is precisely the reason why I voted for you in the first place, Mr. Gale. I can tolerate personal disapproval of my own actions, but things have escalated to a level where we can no longer overlook your constant efforts to mislead your fellow soldiers and have them vote for all the people who can actually help get to the bottom of this problem.

With all the voting and unvoting going on, I stand by my initial vote, since you have done nothing to prove that you are concerned about this Regiment's morale and are not actually one of those ruining it along the way of escaping the battlefield.

I will however give you one last chance to clear your name. As a Provost Guard, it is my duty to be sure I'm doing the right thing - for my deeds have very direct consequences. Do share with us, Mr. Gale, where were you at the night of the bombing, did you pay anyone a visit and is there any person who can confirm that you were not in the fact the one who put the bomb in our Captain's tent?

Seems like this is the only way we're going to get somewhere today and actually learn something useful. Just hope this is worth something. :sceptic:

I am sorry, Private Gale, but you have accused the Provost Guards and then retreated only to move on to our Lt., again without any presented evidence or even the slightest bit of circumstance to point at. It seems like the actions of one aiming for the leaders of our army, much as the cowards did last night in murdering our dear Captain Le Coq.Vote: Private Dan Gale / def

Private Gale's accusations comes with some discomfort - I can see why men rally against him. First, his sudden accusation of a Provost Guard. And then with absolutley no reason to suspect an officer, he flagrantly accuses me of the most heinous of crimes - in itself punishable in the most fatal of ways.

If the will of the battalion is that it'd see him face a firing squad, so be it.

Vote: Private Dan Gale (def).

I believe at the moment that he was just trying to get the ball rolling so that we don't sit around doing nothing today, so that's fine. His argument was consistent, yet not forceful, more inquisitive I guess.

I thank you for your comments, Private Reutal. It is always a risk run by those in command that we lose innocent men. But it is part of our lot and we must accpet it as a means of survival for the many and the greater good. Our path is a glorious one, for country, for freedom. We cannot sway from it.

Some of you talk of missing family, your lives back home. I ahve no family to return to. This Great Army is my life. I'll put my sword in the back of any man who would desert it.

Althugh not as vocal as some members of the 42nd, that does not mean I have not been listening and doing some thinking of my own. Unfortunetaly I must agree with my Lieutenant. Your wishy washy ways are concerning to me.

This is madness. Perhaps I have stirred the pot too much, but my vote for the Lieutenant was as I have stated. He first placed a vote for Pvt. Entaine, with no reason other than that he missed his family. From which point, others quickly formed a mob. Does this not sound unjust to you? Is this not a reason enough for me to cast a vote?

I feel I have clearly explained myself. The Lieutenant made a vote that seemed reckless and unfounded.

Looking at the privates, I have yet to see any behaviour that is out of the ordinary, but from our surviving leadership, I have seen only suspicious behaviour, again, as I explained before.

For our captain to be murdered as he was, I can't help but to suspect there was assistance from those in power.

If I die, it will be as an honoured. And I will happily die for my country.

It is madness for you to punish me for trying to find justice here.

At the least, my motives for voting for Dalese and the Lieutenant are far more substantial than their motives for voting against me. And the same goes to any of you who are voting for me. Please review the history so far to see that I haven't misled anyone. If I'm guilty of anything, it's of having a lack of decent information, information that should have already been supplied to us all by our provost guards, according to the words of our good captain.

I implore you to review the history here.

A true deserter would not be this open in public.

Shortly thereafter:

Well, I have no idea if this is right or wrong, but just to vote somebody in order to avert the consequences of not getting a condemnation, I will vote: Pvt. Dan Gale (def).

This is an example of an unjust vote.

Furthermore, the Lieutenant has withdrawn the vote which was the reason I cast my vote initially against him, and instead shifted opinion against me. Oh, how the deserters are laughing right now.

But, in light of the Lieutenant withdrawing his unjust vote against Pvt Entaine, I will respectfully withdraw my vote against him. I will not cast a vote as a revenge tactic.

Unvote: Lieutenant Pedro Pellsan

Im sorry Mr. Entaine if I have judged you poorly, it was the only evidence I had going. I rather have a deserter get voted than an honourable man dieing, but it seems you are loyal to your country. So unvote: Pvt. Alain Entaine (Alice) and vote: Pvt. Dan Gale (Def) For you have been quite suspicous in accusing the people who are trying to find out who are the deserters are, I hope this decision is wise.

Is this not the same as you?

The two I voted for both exhibited suspicious behaviour, so I voted. And that makes me a suspicious person worth voting for? The irony. Should I have not voiced and voted my suspicions? Would that have made me a more loyal soldier? If I get lynched from this, there will be a lot of regret tomorrow.

At least on the third day, you will be able to confidently point your fingers at your leadership for having railroaded me, despite me being honest at all times.

I have said too much today. But allow me to briefly summarize:

Lieutenant Pedro Pellsan voted for Pvt. Entaine. I correctly claimed it was unjust. This has been shown true, because he withdrew his accusation. Therefore I was justified in being suspicious of him. He then voted for me, because I went after the leadership that had tried to lead us in the wrong direction.

I am being punished for having the good judgment to find his initial vote for Entaine wrong. Since the Lieutenant has himself admitted he made a mistake in condemning her, should he not commend me for having the integrity to do what was right, and go against him in this situation? Should I be loyal to a Lieutenant or to my country?

I felt you did the right thing by at least questioning the higher ranked and I also feel this should not be the reason for any accusations against you Pvt. Gale. You have yourself however also pointed the finger at the Provost Guards and the Lieutenant by voting for them without any concrete evidence, which goes considerably further than merely questioning their judgments. Should this be sufficient for your conviction? I'm yet undecided.

I am only doing because I have seen enough evidence for you that you could be a deserter, and we do not tolerate deserters in this Regiment. Therefore I Vote: Private Dan Gale (def). Sorry, but it seems you are here to destroy our leadership.

As they have done to me and Pvt. Entaine.

At worst, we can be declared hasty equals, but nonetheless, I am being railroaded here.

Therefore I Vote: Private Dan Gale (def). Sorry, but it seems you are here to destroy our leadership.

The leadership has already led you to wrongly condemn one innocent man, Pvt. Entaine, and you'll let help them do it a second time? :hmpf:

Lynch mob. If we can learn one thing from history, rampant mobs will be the undoing of the honoured.

I must go to bed soon, there has been too much intrigue this day. If I don't wake up, please remember those who led you down the wrong path when my Honoured status is revealed tomorrow.

People seem to be making sense now. I am confident enough to place this Vote: Private Dan Gale / def. May you rest in peace Dan.

Pvt. Gale hasn't seemed to do anything but bring up some interesting points; points which we have all thought about considered. I just haven't seen anything worth placing a vote for him.

Pvt. Entaine however, seems eager to split this scene, as do we all.

For the time being, I vote Pvt. Entaine/Alice.

( I can't bold my vote, would someone mind please?. Thanks.)

For the time being, [...]

The day is drawing to an end. The sun has almost set. I see no way Pvt. Gale can escape conviction. Pvt. Entaine seems to have been able to convince multiple people of his innocence. And although the leaders of this Regiment haven't been as forthcoming as I'd expected and requested them to be, I also haven't heard any really convincing arguments to suggest any one of them is a deserter. Therefore, the only right thing to do for today seems to be to trust the judgment of the majority and leaders of this Regiment. My vote should therefore be seem as support for my trust in the honorable status of the majority of this proud Regiment and not the confidence in any specific private or superior.

Vote: Pvt. Dan Gale (def)

Pvt. Dale, please know that your impeding death will not be in vain, for either we have convicted a deserter, or we know a whole lot more about the people who raised the initial suspicion against you.

"Vote: Private Dan Gale (def)! Wait, I can't vote? Awww, but everybody else was having so much fun!

12 votes are necessary to convict a deserter...and our vote currently now is...

Private Alain Entaine (Alice) - 4 votes (TinyPiesRUs, Captain Genaro)

Private Dan Gale (def) - 14 votes (Alex the Great, BigCam, Bob the Construction Man, def, Dragonator, General Armendariz, iamded, MetroiD, pedro, Quarryman, Rick, Roncanator, Sandy, Shadows) CONVICTED

Lieutenant Pedro Pellcan (pedro) - 1 vote (Alice)

Non-voters - 14 (def, New Right, Tanotrooper, Whitefang)

And so...oh, my! My dear Pvt. Dan Gale, I'm sorry to say, but there are enough votes here to convict you! To not receive the Provost General's wrath, we must execute you, I'm afraid. I dearly hope you are a deserter! Lieutenant, form a detail and have two men dig a grave! We have a dozen bullets to put into a deserter!" -Captain Qocél-

After an intense discussion, the men of the 42nd regiment convicted Private Dan Gale (def), also the brother of Private Wilson Gale (WhiteFang), as a deserter. Once the grave was dug, there was no hesitation in bringing him in front of the firing squad...

With their duty done and a sad result as Private Dan Gale was honoured, the soldiers went to bed for the night, curious as to what will happen during the night and the coming day...

********

The day has ended and def has been convicted. Please send in your Night Actions, preferably by tomorrow night. I will most likely be leaving Friday (for certain, this time!), so I'll try my best to get a complete night and start the next day as soon as possible.
