I'm trying to get into the habit of making Lego Town MOCs, but I haven't a clue of how to build a car. I see cars, but don't know how to start. I'd assume you'd start with 4 of the 2x1 axle parts to get the wheels, but I am stumped on how to go on with it. I want to be able to build Minifig-scale cars from muscle cars to an everyday car, but with good detail.

Does anyone have any helpful advice, tutorials, or suggestions on building a minifigure (fit a minifigure at least) car? Any help would be gladly appreciated :classic:

There really isn't set rule on how to build a car. Or anything built out of lego for that matter. But for me, i always stat with the frame first. I ussualy use plates to conect the front and rear axles together and build off that. But again, there's no set way.

You can always buy a small LEGO car (They're not expensive) or check out their instruction sheets out, for 7236 police car, 8402 sports car or 3177 small car and see how the official sets do it.

Search flickr, like the LugNuts group. There are times you can see some instructions or the builder will show extra shots that can show you technique. It is a place I get ideas from.

Thank you for the advice. Is the 6743 Street Speeder minifigure compatible?

No, it's not, but you can mod it to fit a fig.

You can how? I have two of 6743 street speeder and I can't figure out how to mod it.

Here's the LUGNuts group Col. Brick was talking about. It's a great group with monthly building challenges that push your skill. You don't need to be a super-amazing car builder to join.m

If you go to the group's tags, you can see minifig, minifigscale, etc. Click on one to get all MOCs with that tag.

What I do is simple. I look at what makes the vehicle unique, like it's overall shape, curves, mudguards, lights, etc. I then make a mock-up of each part, and assemble them to form a whole. Once that is done, I fiddle with it more to get the shape to look more smooth and fix whatever doesn't look right.

Here is a gallery but I can't really tell you how they did it.
