lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I did say I was going to knock something up to go with the BP servo.....like a small snack bar. First I MOCed this up on a normal 8x16 base plate. Then I shifted it to the BP base plate. I haven't thought of any stickers yet for this, I'll have a good head scratch over it ! Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
AwesomeStar Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 It's really cute! Very well done - honestly captures the feel of a snack bar at a petrol station ~A.S. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Thanks 'AwesomeStar' for that nice comment, yeah it is kind a cute - I was basing it a little on the old 675 snack bar from 1979 (man, I loved that little set - it went perfectly with my 377 Shell servo too) I'm a conformist! everyone ! jonwil Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 If you re-built it in white instead of red, you could brand it as a Muzz Buzz drive through coffee shop. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Yeah, thanks for the comment 'jonwil' - there is a reason for the red - everything else is either white or grey mostly and I choose to have some colour - also that those parts I really only have in red (like the door and shutters with their respective frames). At least you didn't say Starbucks ! I'll take your idea on board and use more white than red - I think we only have one of these in Adelaide your speak of and it's an oddly shaped coffee stand that's for sure! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote

lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Sticker on ! Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
BlueBard Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Really nice! Clever use of some parts like those white "doors" (sorry don't find the right word in english) and of course it looks even better with the stickers Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Thanks 'BlueBard' for your very knid comments , those white doors are actually from the 2005 fire truck and yes, I love stickering now - it totally brings my MOC's to life ! Quote
Izzy Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 You should make it a Kit-Kat Stop Revive Survive, because it looks just like one. I used to looooove those so much on road trips when I was younger. Quote

I used to looooove those so much on road trips when I was younger. Isn't the Bushells Stop Revive Survive now, great idea, not in the town but at the roadhouse/truck stop - some of them have them too ! (I would need minifig Koala's in a car though !) Thanks for the comment 'Cutlass Iz' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
the Inventor Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Great Snack Bar, lightningtiger I like that you used those fire truck pieces, and it fits nicely next to your BP gas-station. the Inventor Quote
Still Raindrop Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) Very nice! I like the little coffee stand look it has. We have a couple of these in my town (including one with a gimmick: the servers are all women wearing bikinis. I've never been to that one, but I'm willing to bet that many of the people who have been don't necessarily go for the coffee). Edited March 1, 2010 by Mariko Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) That's an absolutely amazing City MOCset, lightningtiger! I really it! It's very simply - but maybe it's even that which makes it looking that classic and realistic! I really like the exterior design as well as the interior. The only thing I miss is a small table to stand outside and have your snack. Otherwise it's perfect. I really hope that TLG will offer us a snackbar or hamburger stall like this one next year! Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Edited March 1, 2010 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Rufus Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Man, you're on fire, MOC-a-day lightningtiger! And producing good stuff! At this rate you'll have a whole town in two weeks. I like this snack bar, and yes, the fire truck doors are a cool idea; they give it a kind of temporary look which fits well. I'm a conformist! indeed! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Thank you's go out to 'the Inventor', "Mariko', 'Klaus-Dieter' and 'Rufus' for all your very kind replies ! Nice to see everybody likes a good cup of coffee every now and again, now biniki clad girls eh ? Now that's a place to have coffee eh ? Yes, 'Klaus-Dieter' there will a yet to be designed picnic table directly out the front of it (of course not in the driveway though ). Starting work on the either car dealership or pub in the next two days ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
sens1992 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 This is a cool addition to your BP gas station. You are right, the stickers brings your MOC to life. Good work! Quote
prateek Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Awesome snack shack. Those firetruck doors are so simple, but they work really well as the covers Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 Thanks 'prateek' and 'sens1992' for your really kind replies, I'm still working on that picnic table. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Man, does anybody know how hard it is to design a simple yet effective picnic table of any sort ? See what you all think ? A wider shot now..... Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) Oops, I forgot one thing, any more ideas I can use here ? Edited March 3, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
Rufus Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Oops, I forgot one thing, any more ideas I can use here ? Perhaps use brown tiles on the top to give it a wooden look? I like the use of brackets for seats - nice technique, but I imagine they're a pain to put figs onto! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 It's actually a metal frame, seat and table top - I need to get some nice green tiles and plates to do timber settings I'm have in a park near my home. Thanks for the comment 'Rufus' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Legostein Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Hello! Like the others before me, I also like the use of those shutters. It's an easy way to lock the stand after work. When I look at it I feel the same classic town spirit as for the city monorail set wich also had such nice small stands. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
streifen Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 i hope this has not been mentioned yet. if u want to make ur snack bar complete with food, consider selling kebab. for the kebab, you can use the wooden club (in IJ series the Cairo boxset has one). attach to a holder and u have a kebab stand. include condiments containers.
