Thanks for the review, Svelte. Fantasticaly penned, humourous, detailed and ridiculously fast as usual.

How can you get sets so early and post the review so quickly without it suffering from being so quick? impressive skills!

I really love this set, I love all of the modular sets. Escalator technique is confusing, at least to me though.

Of course I'll never be able to get this set. Can't afford it now, and definitely wont be able to afford it when it's discontinued but I'd snap the whole series up in a heartbeat if I could.

You get a great finished set, great parts, new parts and rare colours! I think these sets really give a lot of credibility to our AFOL world.

Thanks for a great read!

Couldn't have done a better review, thanks a lot Svelte. Between your excellent reviews of this and 10210 Imperial Flagship I still haven't decided which to get first. I know I would like to see some pics of the new guy hanging around with his friends Craig Corner, George Grocer and Fred Brigade. Maybe even Marge Street if you so insist!

Thanks for another brilliant, humorous and fantastically detailed review, Svelte!

I love almost everything about this set! Lots of tan, almost two times the minifigs that the other modulars had, neat little mini-models like the chandelier and billboard, and much, much more! Tons of spectacular details everywhere.

The guy with interchangeable pants is hilarious! Hopefully Jamie will keep adding funny things like that in the next "LEGO Direct" sets.

It also complements your department store MOC very nicely!

And I do agree that your plants are much better.

A brilliant review as always Svelty! Epic really, an epic review of an epic set.

I'd just like to add YAY! for Doctor Who references. You rock! Now where is my damn anti-plastic? It is never around when I need it.

This has ALOT more detail than I heard of before, I'll probably get this instead of Fire Brigade. I heard that the figures in the window were printed, and I was expecting a sort of shadow face, like a normal face but no mouth/eyes. In the roof extras, is the yellow tile normal yellow? Maybe it's just the lighting, but it looks like that Bionicle yellow. But there is security, and that's the escalators that go one way, robbers can steal stuff but can't get away.

Thanks for another illuminating review. Perhaps it's your enthusiasm, but you make me want to buy sets!

I love these big sets, but they make me a little tired with their time and size and all, and I firmly wasn't planning to buy this... But then somebody gives enough attention to the details, and a hunger is awakened. Now I don't know what I'll do if I don't get these new curved arches.

Has anyone noticed the 2nd and third floors have a window on the back of the building?! If you were to put a building on that side you would just see out to the side of the building :hmpf: The set looks great thanks for the review Svelte

Beautiful review Svelte - in fact, a 5-star review. Your pictures are fantastic.

My set arrived this afternoon, and I'm planning to build it over the weekend. The Emporium looks really nice next to your custom modular, but didn't realize it is quite a bit shorter.

Looking forward to the build, especially after seeing this review. Great job! :classic:

You must have worked on this for hours. It's so well detailed with quirky funny interesting comments. I spent a good half hour just reading it and looking at all the pictures. It was great and I can't say that enough times or find enough words to profess my admiration for such a great piece of Lego journalism. After all it is almost 2am and my brain has quit for the night.

The part where the windows are would - if you'd put it next to any of the existing modular buildings so far - look out on their backyards, since this is the first modular to use the full depth of the base plate. The other have 8 studs of backyard.

Svelte, you've outdone yourself again. A very informative and entertaining review of a truly excellent set. GG still tops off the line, but this certainly comes in at number two.

Wise Rick is wise. I love the CT blogged graphic! And a great choice of pic for the blog as well. Thanks!

A beautiful review, but the Doctor Who fan in me was delighted by the Auton reference. I know what I'm MODing when I get the Emporium. ;)

It's always a pleasure to have the great Arnold T Blumberg stop in and comment on my review :oh: Not many Saturdays now, is it?

Great and funny review Svelte :classic: I like your Department Store more though, the chocolately colour scheme in particular. Mmm...

Fabulous review! The Modular Buildings series is part of the reason I came back to Lego after all those years, and year after year the new buildings keep delivering the goodies! I'm still not happy with the inflated UK price, but the set itself is really flawless!

Long live LEGO!

This is an insane review!!

Insane as in awesome! Thanks alot for a well covered review Svelte.

I have thought since we saw the first pictures of this model that this is a must have.

You have made me want this even more now. Don´t know if I will thank you, or not

Thanks again Svelte, you alwasy come up with great reviews wth great items. I envy you for getting all the sets before anyone else :) I think GE is the best CC set so far.

Great review Svelte, and what an amazing set! I didn't think this was possible, but now we want this set even more. Like a giddy couple sneaking off to a love hotel, we're jiggling with excitement (sorry, I've been reading too much manga), or maybe I'm just feeling a bit odd looking at that half-naked mini fig swanning around the trouser shop...Yay, Viagara!!

WOW, this set is immense, adn damn, you did an outstanding review, I mean this is very good. I don't know if I've seen a review from you before, this is truely epic!!

I've seen preliminary pics but I've never seen the inside in detail. THe level with the cool chandeliere was unexpected, and I love the back door to the whole unit, it just looks correct, with the arch back there.

This will definetaly go down in the history books as one incredible set.

Wow I feel so relieved it would be impossible to get this in this country. It saves me lots of problem. ^^ I would forcefully have to buy it and then I wouldn't be able to decide whether to put it on display or pillage it for the amazing pieces. Finally I would probably end up reserving a whole room to put it in his own magnificence while I obsessively make sure no dust ever gets to it...
