xwingyoda Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I was talking to the rep of my Lego shop in Paris (which is directly operated by Lego France) and she told me that her boss confirmed that Spongebob sets will not be available for retail !!!! I have several Interrogations ?? When she says retail, does it mean retail operated directly by Lego France ?? (or all retail including TRU ??) Will SB still be available via SAH ?? Do you know if SB will be available in your country !!! (apart from USA/Canada where the answer is an obviouis yes). Tks for posting what you know or heard from Lego officials, and please keep this thread clean !! This is serious interrogations !! Tks in advance !! Yoda Quote
reideen1313 Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I'll see if I can find anything out. It may be a situation where it won't be available at the same time that it's out here in the US - but I'll let you know what I hear. Quote
xwingyoda Posted February 15, 2006 Author Posted February 15, 2006 OK tks reideen1313 From what she told me, it doesn't look like retail shops will get it later !!! Also she wasn't really sure about Avatar !!! Quote
snefroe Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 isn't it part of a strategy to get more transactions thru SAH? Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 isn't it part of a strategy to get more transactions thru SAH? Doubtful. SB is made for kids, they wouldn't order over S@H all that much... Quote
KMOI Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Perhaps they just think the Nicktoon sets will fail like a monkey in Europe. I mean Nick isn't that big over there, is it? Because I know Avatar and Spongebob are knocking the socks off everyone here in Canada. Quote
snefroe Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 well..; lego france is known for taking weird decisions ... they also indicated they won't sell pods, the lego shop in the middle of Paris doesn't have a pab,... Perhaps it's just one of those unexplainable mysteries of the lego universe. Quote
MattZitron Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Spongebob is BIG in the UK (and I think Europe) so this would be a weird decision if it was all of Europe. Doubtful though, probably just delayed like Batman. Quote
Cutty Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Perhaps they just think the Nicktoon sets will fail like a monkey in Europe. I mean Nick isn't that big over there, is it? Because I know Avatar and Spongebob are knocking the socks off everyone here in Canada. For germany this might be true for Avatar. Spongebob however is omnipresent here and runs on several channels. Wherever you go shopping here, you might eventually find SB merchandise. Hell, there were even SB-figurines* in the popular "Kinder Quote
masterchief5611 Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Cutty has a logical reason for SB. Since he gave that some thought I will bold his name see Cutty . Anyways I live in the U.S.A. so we will get them both. Wow SB is BIG over there on a side note: what do you mean banana=monkey steak? He's draining out my BRAIN! JK.lol. p.s. the Burger King SB toys are for the premeir of Songebob: Lost in Time. I should know this I act like a kid. Quote
Cutty Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Cutty has a logical reason for SB. Since he gave that some thought I will bold his name see Cutty . on a side note: what do you mean banana=monkey steak? He's draining out my BRAIN! But don't you think we're engaged by this ... And why does "Banana = Monkey Steak"? It's just a saying we have here in germany, although we do not say "steak" normally but "Kotelett" -> Banane = Affenkotelett. Because monkeys like bananas...you know? Whatever... Quote
alex54 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I really hope that SB lines will be sell in France! I don't know why not. In fact SB is on the first public TV chanel and like in Germany, SN is also in the Kinder eggs. It would be a strange choice if LEGO decides not to give us SB... Quote
Jipay Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Well that wouldn't be the first mistake for TLC in France unfortunatly. It seems to me that they decided to kill the Lego market in here. Megablocks is taking the advantage on the sheleves everywhere I go and there is no decent Lego products presented... Quote
alex54 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I have to admit that I totally agree with you Jipay! It makes me mad when I go to my supermarket and I see the LEGO space smaller and smaller, contrary to the Meg****** one  Quote
MShiels Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 This may be like Thomas, where different companies/entities own the licenses in different countries/markets. And maybe the French owner of SB didn't want to sign with LEGO? Maybe?: Quote
Vader Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Most sets can be bought in europe as long as you dont mind using sites like bricklink, ive ordered alot of sets through BL and have never had a problem. In fact i ordered most of the batman sets from their and am pleased to say that not only did i get them cheaper than buying in europe but i also got them a long time before they were released over here. Quote
natelite Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 well, i got my batman sets from ebay and it's way cheaper than retail or bricklink. not a sbsp fan though. :-/ Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 26, 2006 Author Posted July 26, 2006 That reminds me of a story I forgot to post earlier but anyhow here it goes: The day I bought my UCE Batmobile at TRU La D Quote
gusmoore17 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Mexico isn't, and even the mexican Lego importer co. is still discussing if Batman is going to be released here. :'-( Quote
Berry Syedow Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 (an idiot who did not know anything really) I'd like to hear your reason for that comment. (An entertaining one preferably. X-D) Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 (an idiot who did not know anything really) I'd like to hear your reason for that comment. (An entertaining one preferably. X-D) Well when you ask a guy, in the biggest TRU at La D Quote
Berry Syedow Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 You cannot assume an answer like "what lines ?", "do they exist?"... (check SAH US you moron !!)So he did NOT know anything on what TRU will receive, what sets are going to come out or when (...) and that IS a Lego Rep :-| No wonder why TLC is doomed in the long term !! *yoda* Very reasonable criticisms. I just like people to back up their comments. To say TLC is doomed is a little harsh because of one guy. ;-) (The recent abundance of missing/deformed parts has me worried, though.) *cowboy* (we need it ;-) ) EDIT: Nevermind, the brickster made one!
