squiz Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 The airport price [3182] looks like a mistake. Anyone in Sweden interested in that set should snap it up before the price increases. Wouldn't be the first time its happened. Wow yeah that looks like a real bargain!! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Dear Lego Group As a longtime lover of Lego, I was quite shocked to see the price structure for your new theme World Racers. I have always been a fan of your shorter more "action packed" lines and was planning on purchasing all of the sets from this new and exciting theme. However, after comparing price to piece amongst these sets and those of other themes, I was disappointed to see such a large price, across all set sizes, for the World Racers product line. Although by no means will I not be buying any sets from the theme, my findings may force me to re-evaluate my planned purchases due to the considerable sum it would cost to collect them all. I do hope this will not become a trend across all your product lines as I wish to continue purchasing and enjoying Lego Brand building sets for the forseable future. Yours Peppermint_M (an AFFOL). Nice one! I think the prices should move closer together, because the discrepancy between the two currencies ($ and €) is lower than it was six months ago! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 It wouldn't be so bad if it were not for the £74.99 it costs for a set that has 961 pieces and screams "poor design". When I can get the over 1000 piece MMV for £69.99, a fantastic and attractive set. Quote
Dharkan Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Hello there, I'm going to ask about the odd Lego pricing in Turkey. I actually asked same thing to our ambassador aswell but I wasn't satisfied with the answer I got, so I decided to ask here aswell to see if I can get a better answer. The question is why Lego doesn't do anything about the Lego pricing? They don't have a Lego Shop in Turkey, I know this, but if Lego distributor in Turkey charging people for ridicilous amounts of money (almost double or triple) of the actual costs of sets, isn't it kinda unfair? Doesn't Lego care about the customers in the countries where there is no official Lego Shop? For me (and most of Lego fan in Turkey that I know of), those prices forcing me to buy from Bricklink or Ebay all the time. And one last thing, If Lego doesn't/can't do anything about the pricing, what is the reason for it? With Kind Regards, Burak. Quote
Tony Almeida Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 As an Australian customer, I find the best way to deal with the price discrepancies is to simply never pay full price. The last 3 sets that I bought all had a 25% discount, which funnily enough brought them around to the same prices that American customers would pay (with the current exchange rate taken in account). And when our dollar is high, there is a great incentive to order from USA S@H via a remailer. My interpretation of the responce from TLG is that they will charge as much as a particular market will accept. The logical responce of the consumer in the internet age is to order from the cheapest markets when the shipping costs allow. Quote

Is it always as easy as that though? Not every set goes to sale, especially the popular ones which are the sets you are more likely to want anyway ! Waiting for a sale also means you run the risk of a set being discontinued before you can get hold of it. Quote
Tony Almeida Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 True, but I don't fool myself into thinking that I'll be able to get every set I'm after. Also, many department stores tend to have sales/clearances on Lego fairly regularly, so waiting until an item is about to be discontinued might mean being able to get it at its cheapest. At the moment, the Star Wars sets seem to be among the most popular though I've only ever owned one SW set - from 1999! There have just been so many SW sets released over the years that I simply can't be arsed ever deciding on what to get, not to mention they are considerably more expensive than regular sets. So its fortunate that one of the most highly sought ever themes has never really been to my fancy. Quote
