Luke McAwesome Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 (edited) The difference? This one gives only a rough idea of what an adult is, and says that we will ban you if you don't act like one. In short I've de-emphisied the age. Happy? Indeed... So, am I mature enough to be here? Just wondering so I can know. Edited August 10, 2009 by Striker Quote

Luke McAwesome Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Must... Run... Away... But, I guess we should get back on topic, before this leads to another one of the conversations where I completely obliterate it. Quote
Millacol88 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 The age thing isn't a huge deal. From the very beginning of my time here, I was always open about my young age, and still am. I have my moments, but I'm sure most would agree I'm mature enough to be here. It's just that, Staudie is like a toaster, you can't think too hard about him... Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Back on topic, who creates the majority of these tags? Is there one staff member who does most of them? Quote
Siegfried Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Back on topic, who creates the majority of these tags? Is there one staff member who does most of them? Not really. Even I've created a few. Shadows does do a lot of them, as does Hinckley but I wouldn't say anyone does most. I think most staff members have made at least one. Quote
Shadows Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Back on topic, who creates the majority of these tags? Is there one staff member who does most of them? Hinck and I have both made a fair number of them and I've done some editing/cleaning up of things made by others. The SW tags were made by KimT since he knew what he wanted. Earlier ones were made by other people along the way. It isn't really something we document closely as there is no point. Not really. Even I've created a few. Shadows does do a lot of them, as does Hinckley but I wouldn't say anyone does most. I think most staff members have made at least one. Yeah, what he said while I was typing too much. <--- I made that, it doesn't look anything at all like my sigfig. Nope, not at all. Quote
Joey Lock Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Well instead of waiting for a tag you could just minimize a picture of your countrys flag and place it in your signature. Heres a website with small GIFs you can place in your signature. Quote

How about not. Let's not get an animated gif trend going in sigs or anywhere else, ok? It's just guaranteed to slow the pages and annoy me everyone. Quote
Rick Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 How about not. Let's not get an animated gif trend going in sigs or anywhere else, ok? It's just guaranteed to slow the pages and annoy me everyone. GIFs are not by definition animated (upon quick inspection, Joey's link does not contain animated GIFs). An advantage over JPEGs is that they can handle transparency, but PNG can also handle transparency. But I would definitely agree on the 'no' to animated GIFs! Quote

Yeah, The flags don't move or anything, Its just easier as a GIF, Like saving in Paint, JPEGs go all funny, GIFs do not mess up. Quote
Siegfried Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 GIFs do not mess up. Sure they do. Try saving one with less colour data than it needs. It'll dither and look silly. Quote

I had just come from Bricklink where all the flags are animated and I hate that, so I applied the principle here without actually checking the link. Yeah, The flags don't move or anything, Its just easier as a GIF, Like saving in Paint, JPEGs go all funny, GIFs do not mess up. Most of our tags are gifs, no problem there. But ... Sure they do. Makes me look like I'm a dithering idiot. Quote

You can have all the democracy you want in your real life. This is an internet site and this peticular part of it is the Star Wars Forum and there's no democracy here Thanks - I found the badge through a simple picture search, so it's not my doing at all. And you're welcome - I like doing it. Am I missing something? Quote
Shadows Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Am I missing something? Common sense and a firm grasp of the language? I never said he drew it personally, but he did make it into a tag himself. That isn't how it's usually done, but in that case it worked. Quote

Stealth Hunter Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I recently noticed Erdbeereis has a special flag which consist of a German and American half. Could someone explain me why he has this flag? Quote

Its not really that hard. His parents could be German, but he was born in america. One parent can come from Germany, the other from America. He could be German but live in america. Or he could be American and Live in Germany. Im not really sure where he comes from Quote

Im not really sure where he comes from I noticed that too. I suspected something along those lines. Now if that was in my case I would need half Singapore (I was born there) and half GB (where I live now) . But I'm just fine with the standard GB. Edited August 26, 2009 by Skipper 24 Quote
Big Cam Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Wow, after this thread and the titles thread and the other tag thread, I think I'm burnt out on the can I have this, how do i get it topics. I'm startign to understand why the staff feels the way they do on these issues. Become a Fellow. Apparently that doesn't happen anymore. A group got together, they are now fellows, and the rest of the forum is on the outside looking in. Quote
Shadows Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Apparently that doesn't happen anymore. Sure it does, with about the same frequency as it always has. Quote

What makes you think that? On average I'd say there's a new Fellow every 2 months. If it helps, Eilif is a recent addition, and he only joined last year. Quote
Luke McAwesome Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 A question regarding Fellows, Alice only has 500+ posts, and she's a Fellow... How did that happen? Is she some sort of informant/spy? Quote
