Think someone could explain all the new tags please? I've been seeing all sorts of Ghosts, motorbikes, various flags and the like.

Think someone could explain all the new tags please? I've been seeing all sorts of Ghosts, motorbikes, various flags and the like.

Well, the motorcycle tag is for having a motorcycle and heavily participating in this thread I believe, and the ghost tag thing I think Dragonator started by posting an image of a duplo ghost costume for a Duplo minifigure. The flags are for mostly staff, fellows, and some important members or members that are the staff's "favorites", I would expect. :laugh:

They are what they are. I've seen tons of new shields, ninja ones, cat's, the ghost, elf ones as well, mostly on the Mod's, it's just like all the other tag's, it's at the Mod's discretion and they are having fun with them. Wouldn't you if you were a mod?

besides it looks like your tag list is about full.

You can have 3 tags and one country flag.

People with more than 3 have combined more than one tag into one image. KimT's used to be like this but he removed them for now.

Shadows is a great example. Look at his profile, there are only 3 slots for tags but he has a bunch, if you look at each url for each tag, you'll see there are only 3 urls, but when we look at theose, we see that there is more than one tag per url.

So it appears the board limits you to 4 including the country flag, but inventive Mod's have more by making 4 tags into 1. I see where you could get this number of 16 since 4 x 4 = 16, but whose to say you couldn't have 5 tags as one image on each?

I really don't think you can. Being that I have never seen it done on this board. Maybe they were referring to more than one image per URL?

I have moved all 7 posts related to tags discussion into this topic, so that both topics of 2 different agenda can stay clean.

To add some thoughts into this discussion, and as well to emphasis the fact that the discussion does not spiral out of hand, tags in Eurobricks are pretty much mysterious and some of the tags exist for a mysterious cause which can or could be used for future projects or awarding that you least expected.

Few distinct tags such as Reviewers Academy, Star Wars, Fabuland Builders' Guild, and etc have explainations but some might never have one, until the Staff felt its required to offer one.

This intention is not meant to create any mixed feelings but to maintain the mysterious aura of Eurobricks tags.

It took me around, I don't know, half a year to find out about all of those odd moderator thingies and jokes that are well remembered by all of the other members who have been here for a long time. :wacko:

I also happen to be such a curious 'nerd' like Big Cam. :tongue: I also get triggered by the fact that there are four slots for tags (including one specific for a country flag) on the profile page and some mods seem to have more tags. A simple right-click > 'view image' or 'copy image location' (in firefox, internet explorer probably has slightly different names for the commands) on the tags then works to see that its actually one image holding four tags.

Another mystery I can see is that the tags are stored everywhere. Some are on Eurobricks, others on Brickshelf and even BrickZone!

Is there a deeper mystery and code to these tag locations, or are the tag-masters just being messy? :grin:

It's just Shadow's being messy.

It is not. I don't control where they are stored. Some early, specialized tags were stored on BrickZone, while most of the others were moved from various places to EB itself. Tags that are either specific to one person or new are stored in a Brickshelf account until they can be moved to the main server.

I've knwon for quite a while about how Shadows and some other staff do the tag trick.

I was wondering one day and simply tried saving it to My Pictures folder, and the name to save it as showed up as "ra_mafia_hammer_killer-bunny-rabbit_etc." It was rather easy to figure out his tricks.

It's just simple HTML, curiosity killed the cat.

That's one of the great things about tags, they are URL's from outside websites, so you could have a tag hosted anywhere, the forum just reads that URL and displays whatever picture is there.
