WIP: Fire Station

My first post here :)

I'm building a modular fire station. I wanted it to resemble two of my favorite sets 6389 and 6571. Here is what i've got so far:

Also I would like ideas from you guys as to what interior a fire station needs because I've never been inside one. What do firefighters need?

Wow, very nice and large. Fits well with the skyscraper next to it.

A fire station needs beds, a game area, and a kitchen.

I would say using the same kind of doors at the bottom and top would look a little better and are you planning any interior plus a redesigned fire truck....why the truck you say ?

Because of that AWESOME building next to the fire station - is that you own creation ? If it is, then post it !

That other truck's ladder wont help in a major fire or rescue in that building.

Very nice! I like it a lot, but I think it's too flushed out in red. Maybe add a black stripe at the bottom of each floor to break it up a bit

I've been thinking about a custom fire truck. In Bulgaria the fire departments still use ZIL 131 which is a hell of a machine and is pretty interesting for a Lego build (I've seen some interpretations already).

Anyway. I'll update the topic once I have more news :)

btw this building is going to be part of the first Bulgarian LUG event in April. Wish me luck :)

Much luck and fun with the first Bulgarian LUG event, my European brothers! I don't know if its related, but I do see more Bulgarians on Eurobricks lately.

I love your fire station so far, it is very realistic! And I think you indeedly need beds, a recreation space/room plus an equipment room (downstairs?) plus a command room where they answer the phones and delegate the response units.

I must ask, what is the technic hole for on the back of the building? I figured since it's the only one, there might be a reason.

From the interior shots, it looks like it holds the sliding pole in place at the top. Much like the pole in 10197.

I bet you could arrange to tour a real fire station, but in lieu of that look at photos of the modular Fire Brigade set.

The technic hole is for the pole. The idea is from the 10197 Fire Brigade although I'm not sure if I used exactly the same parts.

Here are two pictures:

10x once again for the ideas guys. So far the idea is to have 1st floor for the equipment, 2nd for the fireman restrooms and 3rd floor for the chief of the department and the command center.

P.S.: This one goes for your other Modulars as well - it's really nice to see a break from the usual Modular designs. For someone to hike into more modern territory while following the modular standard is a wonderful thing and I believe your MOCs will definitely look lovely in April - this is surely going to be the central hub of town! And with such awesome modern buildings, I guess we need to start thinking about modern ways of transportation...

But I do suggest you add another garage though. A station that big can't have just one garage.

Sorry for the long post, but in the US we have a few standard things you will see, not sure about anywhere else:

On the apparatus floor: For the most part the apparatus floor is usually pretty clutter free: http://www.nassaufdrant.com/plugins/p17_im...p17_imageid=127

You'll notice various wires and hoses hanging from the ceiling, our trucks' batteries are recharged while they sit there. The hose is fitted over the exhaust pipe on the rig and prevents the diesel exhaust from filling up the room.

Gear Rack, some place to store jackets and helmets, often right near the rig http://www.readyrack.com/

we usually have a similar rack for extra air bottles

Radio Room, a separate room usually just off the apparatus floor has a console along with a dispatch microphone, at least one telephone and a computer http://www.mvcfs.asn.au/Radio%20Room3.jpg (this link is a bit older and doesn't have computers, but you get the idea)

Most houses now have a dispatching system that includes a large tv screen to display the location of alarms it is usually right next to the bay door, near the ceiling.

Everywhere else Some houses have a fully functional kitchen, a lounge area with a couch and TV, exercise room. There's been a movement against fire poles (insurance) but some places still have them.

I can't take pictures of the inside of my house and put them on the internet (security reasons- fire gear is very expensive and one theft can put us out a lot of money) but I can answer any questions you have...

A great effort georgivar. For such a major fire centre as this I would also consider removing the front windows and adding another roller door for a second appliance. A simple colour change of the stairs would also add contrast. I like your style well done.
