georgivar Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 This is my first MOC. I started it a couple of months ago with parts from my police station sets which I finally dismantled :) The original idea was to build a bank. But the design of the building - the use of lots of trans-black panels for windows couldn't hide the specific bank features - like security and safety vault. So I decided it will be a better corporate headquarters building. The first floor is the reception and lobby. The second floor is for the regular workers and their cubicles. The third floor is the conference room. The fourth floor of course is for the CEO office. And on the roof we have the communications and air-conditioning units. Some pics (excuse the quality of the pics): Overview: The entrance with a my first tree: The roof - uses a 9v battery box and four electric lights. It's a high building you know: The scale of the whole thing (comparison with my 1yo babygirl): The floorplan: The third floor - the conference room: I have still a lot of work on the interior. But will be very gald to hear your comments :) More photos could be found in my Flickr Set - http://www.flickr.com/photos/georgivar/set...57623479208235/ Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 AWESOME MOC ! Fantastic design, especially the frontage - beautiful vertical lines ! Great boardroom too ! What a MOC and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 That's a totally awesome City MOC, georgivar! I really it! It looks absolutely realistic and is constructed with a perfect architecture! An office building is really one of the sets I wish TLG would release in form of a non-CC-styled City set! Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Fugazi Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Well done! I think it totally nails down the 70s-80s building architecture style. Very realistic! Oh and interesting design on those conference room chairs! Quote
benny Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Wah! Look like a bank or office. Very nice!!! but....do you be afriad the building will be turned into yellow or milky after several month? However, it is a great MOC. Quote
georgivar Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Thanx for the compliments. I'm glad that other people appreciate a modular building with a modern style. I personally don't like the style of the official modular buildings and this was one of the main reasons for me to start doing my own MOCs. I wanted something that is closer to the classic town look'n'feel. Quote
georgivar Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 I'm now close to the final straight. Actually it's pretty much complete as there are couple of small details and stickering work to do. This is how the interior came up: 1st Floor - The Lobby 2nd Floor - The Cubicles 3rd Floor - The Conference Room see my first post in this topic 4th Floor - The CEO Office The Roof The set on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/georgivar/set...57623479208235/ Quote
Still Raindrop Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) This is a brilliant office building! It's absolutely perfect, both in the interior and the exterior. I love the chairs in the conference room, and those great elevator doors, as well as all the other neat details. The size is impressive, as well, and the tall ceilings fit in well with an office building (which often do have taller ceilings). Great work! Edited March 19, 2010 by Mariko Quote
prateek Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 This is amazing! The modern style on the outside goes really well with the interior Quote
georgivar Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 thank you, fellows :) glad you like it. Quote
MetroiD Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 There's a ton of great ideas implemented there - I can't wait to see this in person! We definitely have to make sure those white collar geezers get some proper means of transportation... P.S.: Can't help but wonder how come your daughter still hasn't felt the urge to cause mass distruction to this white world of business you've created There's a ton of great ideas implemented there - I can't wait to see this in person! Marko Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Nice work! I love the details in interior - water coolers, coffee machines, lounge chairs etc. Color is also very good contrast with the black windows. Lights on top are special treat. Only thing that I personally like different is that I prefer one side open buildings that can be played with but it is just question of "school". Thanks for showing it. Quote
wooootles Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 I it. Reminds me of the 70s office buildings. My minor criticism is that I think there's too much white interior parts. But overall it's very very nice, the roof details are astounding. Quote
MarcusV3 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 oooooo! Nice! It looks just like an office building Soooo many windows that must have been expensive! lol! And I really like your interior! just like an actual office building! Quote
marvinblue Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 This is really nice!! I love the interior details. The seats in the lobby look great and the light projector in the conference room is a great touch. I also like the lift shaft; do the doors work? Great MOC georgivar!! Quote
ImLost Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Beautiful MOC, georgivar! You included everything a real office building has (other than restrooms ). The elevator looks very realistic and all the details, from the projector to the water cooler, look great! I do agree with wooootles that there are too many white furnitures inside the building. Adding furnitures with other colors besides white will make your interior look more intricate and your details more noticible. Also, I think you should cover the green baseplate on your first floor. Right, it looks like you have an indoor lawn. Overall, very nice work! Quote
georgivar Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Soooo many windows that must have been expensive! lol! And I really like your interior! just like an actual office building! About 300 trans-black panes 2x2x1 :) But I found a good deal on bricklink so it wasn't so expensive after all :) This is really nice!! I love the interior details. The seats in the lobby look great and the light projector in the conference room is a great touch. I also like the lift shaft; do the doors work?Great MOC georgivar!! 10x :) The elevator doors do not open. I liked the elevator design in the Atlantic Hotel MOC by the Mad Physicist ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/madphysicist/3754288447 ). But when I look at it now it's not the quite the same. When I selected the photos to show in the topic, the green baseplate stroke my attention too. It doesn't feel right, I agree :) As for the interior furniture I wanted to do something like this http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/200363447-001/Stone. May be I will. And thank you for your comment :) Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Dude, that thing is huge!! With your daughter standing next to it I almost mistook it for a radiator or perhaps a laundry basket. Nice job. Quote
