I gotta say, it looks hella awkward with multiple setup, more awkward than I expected.

Anything with more than 3 floors look weird for a department store.

2 GE's side by side looks very artificial, too. I believe people already mentioned the double columns... not to mention the big wall separating the two stores together lol

No, double GE's would have to be reworked completely. The exterior can be borrowed from the original instructions but this one would need to take some creativity to make it look decent.

I vote for the last option!

...yeah! I like that idea. It would look great with a corner and a straight. You could then design the straight so it complemented the corners better.

I tend not to like it when people do the squat midsections a la the Cafe Corner buildings we've seen in the past. Svelte all the way, baby!

Buy one more for that extra floor. I'd also modify it so that it's one building on a 32X64 plate. you can then rework the middle of the building where the two sets meet, and make it look like it was designed that way, and by eliminating the double wall that exists when you stick two of them side by side, you give yourself a lot more pieces to work with for the customization.

I am a little surprised that so many people dislike the set-up as is. I don't remember this level of criticism when Cafe Corner came out, and it suffers from the same issue with the double columns. Maybe we're all just getting fussier as the more of these are released

32x64 and 32x96 plates are great ideas, but I am unlikely to do these myself. Firstly, messing with the structure is generally more complex than just moving everything a stud back, etc, and requires different bricks to adjust for all the tan walls. Not to mention the positioning of things different inside often can throw out unexpected surprises. As it is, the chandelier sits under the void of the skylight, and you can't put a middle section just under the skylight as the escalator hits it. So if you move the skylight then you have to move either the chandelier or escalator too and it quickly becomes complex!

Secondly, having a whole lot of stackable 32x32 sections is much more easy for me to display and shift around from place to place than having larger baseplates

Plus, the whole point of modular is to easily move all the different bits around.

How about white with tan accents? You could replace the greebly bits on the building with tan.

given your last creation alamut gate is a great proof of that!!

It was actually part of Lego's official display to advertise the set. On the other side of the table is all the new Toy Story and Prince of Persia sets.

That's an amazing sight, yet ultimately ghastly. It's just not a design that you can stack so high and call it a good looking skyscraper.

Imagine how long it would take a minifigure to ride all of those escalators, at least its better than stairs( I think a elevator would be needed).

48 grand emporiums makes it look like a skyscraper. Does anyone know how tall it is?
