Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Hi everybody, this time I'm not going to present some new decals but just a bunch of purist figs. As you can see from the topic's title, these figs are based on characters from the film:

We start off in chronological order, so the first charcter is Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow):

Follows Joseph "Sky Captain" Sullivan (Jude Law)

And we finish with cap. Francesca "Franky" Cook (Angelina Jolie)

(lacking the toreador limited edition hat, I had to use the quite too big Pirate captain hat for her)

Thanks, awsomebrick. You should see it; even if I know not many people appreciate it, I think it is quite interesting, if not for the script at least for the peculiar style.

ugh, I hated this movie, but your figs are very well done, Although Gweneth Paltrow has gone from yellow a yellow head to a fleshie torso which is questionable.

Dex and some robots are on their way; I just need to fix a couple details and take the pictures

Finally someone who isn't shy in saying he didn't like the movie! As for the yellow to flesh transition in Polly, try seeing the flesh 'neck' as a portion of her shirt

As you know, I like designing decals, but rarely use them I think it is more challenging to find the right combination of official parts, even if at times you have to add lots of imagination to make it go!

Yes, I appreciated the style. In fact, that was one of the reasons I've watched it 5 times! )

No doubt. That's why I personally think that it is always better to stay as purist as possible. And it sometimes requires even more talent, as you've said. Though if you really want some figures to be made, I can't resist and test my sculpting and paintingf skill! )

Do you have any plans to do any larger models or buildings from the series? With so many folks doing Steampunk (for the record, Sky Captain is not Steampunk), it's rare to see MOCs done in the Art Deco, Streamline Moderne and Raygun Gothic styles that Sky Captian's environment is made in.

I have two smaller robots models ready, and I'm working on some design details for the bigger one. At the same time, I'm gathering reference material for the British plane carrier to start making its micro-scale version; a MF version may follow!

You have no idea of how limited (apart from Angelina's shots) reference material there is on the net!

I'm not sure how many more of these I'll do (I have a quite clear idea for Tutenkopf, but not much for other characters). On the other hand, I'm working on other souces/stories (from books, mainly) and will post something soon
