Are they any good?

I don't own any, but considering they're no longer produced...

How does it work?

You press down on the head

How long does it last?

No idea, but you don't go around flashing for criminals all night, now do you?

Maybe it is based on the Jedi minifigs with the light-up light sabers, it would appear. I have been told you can change the batteries in these kind of minifigs but it is tricky !

In any case I think that is so cool - only if you get one with a working radio ?

I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

Well, it's quite nice but it's definitely not a replacement for a real torch! ;D

It lights up if you press down its head and the light lasts as long as the head is pressed down.

Cheers,

Actually, on my light up minifigs, the hats/hair do come off but are really stuck on, because the heads are bigger to allow for whatever light-up thingys they put in there.(that's how I got my Anakin hair without having to find a starfighter) Though they're heads are really loose, if you want to know.

LEGO realized it was a horrible idea and started producing the set with a normal minifigure instead.

LEGO did the initial releases with the light-up minifigures, but they were horrifically expensive to produce, because they were assembled by hand, as I recall. I expect that customers didn't really care about them all that much-- they were neat and all, but nobody wanted to pay the overhead that was necessary for production. I also would guess that the error rate is pretty high-- small connections like that may have a tendency to break easily, although I don't honestly know. So there may have been a high number of returns or replacements that LEGO had to issue.

Anyway, indeed, after a short while on the market these disappeared, and were replaced by non-light-up versions of the same figures.
