escortmad79 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Are they any good? How does it work? How long does it last? Quote
Rick Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Are they any good? I don't own any, but considering they're no longer produced... How does it work? You press down on the head How long does it last? No idea, but you don't go around flashing for criminals all night, now do you? Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Maybe it is based on the Jedi minifigs with the light-up light sabers, it would appear. I have been told you can change the batteries in these kind of minifigs but it is tricky ! In any case I think that is so cool - only if you get one with a working radio ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 I think it depends on what color it has, my Obi-wan's lightsaber lit up more than Vader's. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 'Rick' is right about it being NLA ! The copper was from the 2005 police station 7237 ! Doubt they'll do them again ! I'm a conformist! everone ! Quote
Thee Pirate Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 I have one, it still works. His head swivels a little freely, and the hat is not removable. Neither are the legs. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 From what i remember they were made for like 6 months and then LEGO realized it was a horrible idea and started producing the set with a normal minifigure instead. Quote
funkybrick Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 (edited) Well, it's quite nice but it's definitely not a replacement for a real torch! ;D It lights up if you press down its head and the light lasts as long as the head is pressed down. escortmad79 Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 Cheers for the info, don't think it'd be ideal for what I have in mind if the hat won't come off. Shame though Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) Actually, on my light up minifigs, the hats/hair do come off but are really stuck on, because the heads are bigger to allow for whatever light-up thingys they put in there.(that's how I got my Anakin hair without having to find a starfighter) Though they're heads are really loose, if you want to know. davee123 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 LEGO realized it was a horrible idea and started producing the set with a normal minifigure instead. LEGO did the initial releases with the light-up minifigures, but they were horrifically expensive to produce, because they were assembled by hand, as I recall. I expect that customers didn't really care about them all that much-- they were neat and all, but nobody wanted to pay the overhead that was necessary for production. I also would guess that the error rate is pretty high-- small connections like that may have a tendency to break easily, although I don't honestly know. So there may have been a high number of returns or replacements that LEGO had to issue. Anyway, indeed, after a short while on the market these disappeared, and were replaced by non-light-up versions of the same figures. DaveE Quote
