This is my first attempt at a Castle-themed MOC, at 95%+ made up of parts from Green Grocer (!). It's probably not historically accurate in any way, and there's no background story as I was only trying to MOC a building that included some landscape. In the end, I'm not very fond of how the landscape turned out, I definitely need to get some plants and foliage from Bricklink! And a few more black tiles to repair the roof, right now it looks patchy at best.

Anyway, please do have a look at the other photos on Flickr, comments good and bad all welcome!

It's looking nice for something built mainly out of a city set.

Personally i think you should ditch the roof on the side of the tower or put it up on the very top of the tower as it doesn't really look right where it is.

I would also try and put some normal Arrow slits in the walls.

Thanks for your comments!

I wasn't sure about the roof myself, I didn't have anything in mind when I started MOCing so it kind of evolved this way, but I'm not sure it makes real-life sense.

Excellent watchtower 'Fungazi'......yep a bit more greenery and it will be AWESOME !

The rockery at it's base is fantastic, also the tower's stonework - cool !

Great design and build 'Fungazi'.............I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

I like the door and the use of sand green in the landscape. I'd put the roof on the top of the tower - like someone already saide - or try to make a balcony on only one side.

Go on! :classic:

Thanks for all your comments and encouragement! While GG is a great part pack, it still doesn't have everything I need to MOC a convincing landscape. I will certainly build more Castle-themed MOCs in the future, but first I need to boost my plant and natural colour brick inventory! And yes, get some appropriate minifigs!

I think it looks great and to build it only using Green Grocer pieces is excellent.

Love to see more your interpretations of other sets.

I actually like it without so much 'foliage' pieces. Keeps the focus on the tower. And the roof pieces should stay where they are. Makes yours more unique and keeps the top open which makes the tower look more powerful then having it covered.

Thanks for your comments! Actually I cheated a bit, as a few pieces do not belong to GG. As far I can remember, the brown bricks used for the door, the red flag, the green grass plates and the brown bits used as pebbles, plus a few tan plates used inside to build the stairs were from a different set. I probably could have managed without, but they all helped relieving the monotony of the muted Green Grocer colours.

I think this is awesome the way it is. The patchy roof tiling gives it a bit of an aged, weathered look, which I think fits well. The brick variation in the stonework looks really cool, you've done a great job, Fugazi! I'd like to see more MOCs like this. :sweet::thumbup:
