Hello everyone!

I bought a week ago two MISB sets (Cpt. Phes don't kill me- I opened them:)- 10040 and 6279

Both are US versions with non shooting cannons. I ordered 5 new shooting (the old dark gray color, not the hew ones)

My question is- what is your advise- to swap them with shooting ones or to leave them as they are. I am asking , because for me it's strange a pirate ship and island to have crossed cannons mark on them(like on the Imperial's flag).

What do you think?

Pirates would often had mis-matched cannons on board their vessels. They would take whatever they could get from where ever they could it from. I don't think it would be odd at all to have the "Imperial" cannons on a pirate ship. It would be the ultimate insult to the Imperials, getting hit with their own weapons!

I'd stay with the original non-shooting cannons!

I'm kind of a pirates (especially redcoats) collector and I have some non-shooting cannons from MISB sets.

I would recommend you: don't swap the cannons. I assume you are not actually going to shoot them and the non-shooting cannons look at least as good as their shooting companions. (I like the crossed emblem)

AND the non-shooting ones are the ORIGINAL ones. Why buy an expensive MISB set and then swap UNORIGINAL parts that are not even in a better condition (if not in a worse one) for ORIGINAL parts which are in absolutely MINT condition!

It's just that I think if you buy an around 20-years-old (and mostly actually way overpriced) MISB set, you shouldn't mix the parts of it with other parts you possess. I would also highly recommend keeping the box as well as the extra parts.

Me, for example. I'd nearly panic if I'd lose one single cutlass of my MISB-bought (but opened) 6277 Imperial Trading Post.

Why? Because I want to have all the original parts with my MISB (but opened) sets.

I know, "it's just a cutlass", you may think.

But: where could I get another such cutlass? Where could I get another definitely-produced-in-1992-to-1995 cutlass? And where could I get another definitely-produced-in-1992-to-1995 cutlass in absolutely mint condition?

Just my opinion about the appropriate treatment of MISBs. And I really think the non-shooting cannons look good!

Cheers,

funkybrick

I do agree with you. I bought five absolutely new shooting cannons, don't you think they are also rare, because they are out of producing?

Well, you bought a BSB from 2002, which isn't as old as the first, so I think you should switch the cannons so now you have some old pieces on the ship.

because they are out of producing?

Not really, because those cannons came in almost every pirate set including some western sets...

Well, then.

If you are really going to shoot the cannons then swap! But keep the originals safe in the box! :pir_laugh2:

If you are not going to shoot them more than once or twice or never then don't swap.

@General Armendariz: I know it's from 2002. Nevertheless, it's still a retired (and pricey) classic Pirates set!

I agree, I wouldn`t swap them because they are ORIGINAL. I think that originals are better than the new ones, besides how many times do you think that you will actually shoot them? I wouldn`t swap anything on a boxed set because I would like to keep the value up by keeping it as is.

No, you'll just be keelhauled :pir-skull:

How much did they set you back and where did you acquire them from?
