Out of 6 sets I have 2 sets that have one missing parts each.

I was assembling more of my Crane Truck ( 8258) and so annoyed. I have one number 15 beam missing. How common is this? out of six sets, so far have 2 missing pieces, so seems going by this 20% of the sets have one or so missing pieces? This has been the case for me anyway? For missing pieces how do you get on getting thid missing pieces from Lego?

It is so annoying assembling a set to find missing pieces.

Lucky I have other sets, so had to use a 15 beam from another set, if I did not, to progress building my Crane truck would not have been possible? Has this happened to anyone else?

Go to LEGO Customer Service and they have an option where you can request replacement pieces for the pieces that are missing.

You will need to know the number from the inventory page in the instruction manual matching to the parts that are missing.

Out of 10 sets (not all Technic) recently opened Ive had around 4-5 pieces missing; always quickly replaced free of charge by Lego after reporting on their website. Mostly it is for minor items (e.g. tan 1x2 with 1 stud) but sometimes at the critical point (finishing a window assembly). Oh well. Lego offer fanstatic fast service - especially for people in Switzerland! And it is not something I find frustraiting.

In my own experience of opening many hundreds of new LEGO sets over the years, about 1 out of 10 times I find that a part is missing. However, in 100% of those cases I have later discovered that I made a mistake and that there were actually no missing parts, I'd just built it incorrectly. Therefore, in hindsight, I've never had a missing part. Something as big as a 15L beam seems very unlikely because they weigh every set with a tolerance of a few grams and that would be obvious.

Still, if the part is really missing, LEGO Service will happily replace it as others have mentioned.

For what it's worth, out of over 100 technic sets only one had missing pieces. When I say missing pieces I mean an entire polybag was missing. But Legos consumer services were very happy to help no problems whatsoever.

Yeah Lego are pretty good, and filled in the missing part list, so will replace it. Being in New Zealand will take 3 weeks according to the email I got this morning.

Lucky I have other sets, as I got a 15 beam from Lego Number 8294, because the beam is darker, used 2 from 8294 so it will not look to odd.

Totally agree, on large builds it is normally a small error caused by misunderstanding the instructions, backtracking to find the error is fun, I always used to be caught out with the dark grey and black beams, a couple of years ago, the instructions were really hard to distinguish the correct colours. Seems a little better now days though,

You can always disassemble the set, count the beams and compare against the parts list :-) just to double check,

2 out of 6 sets would make it 33% ....

lately, i've been on a buying spree and purchased 7 or 8 sets within 2 months and most of them are fairly large sets too. I've been missing pieces from 4 or 5 sets and in one case there was a handful of missing pieces, not just 1 tiny thing missing. It's just pretty bad luck I suppose, I've never had that much problems before.

When going through customer service to get missing parts, they shipped from the US to Canada. The last time I used this missing parts service (which was several years ago), it came out of Richmond Hill Ontario (which is local to me, 10 minutes away). I wonder why they'd ship from across the border now?

 Oh I do that at least 20% of the time! I then look over and find I used the wrong part somewhere, left the part in a bag, or something equally silly.

Once I ordered the part... only to realise a week later I was wrong. For this reason I tend to ignore minor issues.

In my 20 years of buying Lego I've practically never had a missing piece. If you have so many missing pieces, maybe the problem is not with Lego.

I reckon I've bought hundreds of sets in my lifetime. I've had 2 occasions (both in the last 12 months) where I was forced to use Lego's part replacement form. Both times it wasn't due to missing parts but deformed parts. I thought I had a lot of bits missing when I built the Emerald nights train the other day, but soon realised where I'd used different colours further down the track. I was then left with 1 missing window pane, which my eagle eyed 3 year old spotted under the couch some 3 weeks later.
