501st Commando Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Another 24x24 castle MOC. In this one three knights take a stop at a small pond in a forest, and they discover a dark cave. So here it is! Main pic. A knight sitting under a tree. One knight in the water. A knight observing the area. The entrance to the cave. Quote
Rufus Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Intriguing! What's (going to be) in the cave? Nice use of slopes and cheeses on the cave, though the cave top looks a little precarious. The overall impression is great! Quote
SlyOwl Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Good work all over, I especially like the mushroom. The top of the tree looks a little flat, though, and the vegetation screen is a bit uniform. Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Looks good! Nice details and the snot pond looks especially nice. Keep up the good work. Quote
Athos Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I think it'd be better if you put a little more depth to the cave. Maybe stick a dragon or some other monster in there, just out the soldier's view. Steve Quote
Inconspicuous Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I love this simple scene you've created, 501st Commando. The water is nice and sleek and the cave is sufficiently rocky. The tree and plants near the pond edge are magnificent. I think it'd be better if you put a little more depth to the cave. I agree with this advice. Giving the cave more depth might make it seem more mysterious and ominous. Heck, you could stick a pair of red eyes into it and let the viewer use their imagination as to what it is. Overall, a superbly clean MOC, that I thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for sharing! Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Looks AWESOME '501st Commando' - great details in this and yeah what's in the cave eh ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Big Cam Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Great MOC, I love the way you did the cave coverings, it really looks like it's been growing there for a while. I assume it's connected via a few studs, great job. Quote
fred67 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I really like this a lot; I wish I was better at rocky walls and trees. Interesting use of SNOT, but in the close-ups you can see the gaps between the water's edge and the shore... was there no way for the "shore" to overhang the water so the gaps wouldn't be visible? This is one of those vignettes that really inspires me, thanks for sharing. Quote
astefan Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 This is a good MOC. I like it. I like the forest. Keep bricking! Quote
mrts Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Nice work. I too like the mushroom a lot! I also like how the plants are also covering the water. Quote
501st Commando Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm still practicing landscaping, so it can only get better in time! Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Great MOC. I always enjoy seeing a minifigure wadding through water. You know he doesn't have any legs below but you just don't care You captured your mysterious cave theme very well. Quote
-JD- Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 This is really good! I love the tree and how you made the pool of water. Everything blends in a realistic way, so well done! Quote
