tin7_creations Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) Alright, this is my first review! I recently received my package from Amazing Armory's Hazel. I must say, I was impressed. The shipping was fast and efficient; not only that, but the packaging his parts arrived in was INCREDIBLE! The packaging is exquisite; and I'm sure it's pretty expensive, which is probably the reason for his pieces being quite pricey. Here's the front of the Guitar Set box: Here's the back of the box: Here's a bag that the parts came in; all the headpieces came individually wrapped in similar bags as well. He also has a calling card! It's a plastic card! It might not be anything special; but there's just something I find extremely cool about a plastic card!! Alright! Onto the products! The set comes with 8 guitars and 2 guitar cases. I'm going to display each guitar with a different 'musicians'. The lead singers: Included within this photo is also the orange pigtail headpiece. That's also from Hazel, it doesn't fit too perfectly. The lead guitarists: In this photo is Hazel's top hat. It's got very detailed stitching! But it's a bit of a tight fit; it requires a bit more of a push to get it on. The lead basses: Here's a picture of each of the guitars, and the two guitar cases: I don't like the guitar cases too much though; look at the picture and you'll understand why: The cases are much too oversized; the minifigs can't even hold them properly. As for the material used for the pieces, It's a hard plastic, which I believe to be ABS; since they feel like LEGO and sound like LEGO when I drop them on the table... Score: Shipping: 8/10 Can't really blame Hazel for this, since Canada Post sucks... Packaging: 10/10 The packaging is expensive; so it must be worth full marks Products: 8.5/10 The designs are great, but they are a bit tight on the pieces. Quality: 9.5/10 The material used is like real LEGO! Overall Average: 9/10 Hazel passes with flying colors! Hope you guys enjoy this review! ~tin7 Edited March 23, 2010 by tin7 Quote
Rufus Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Great review! I'm gonna have to get a set of those - my sigfig will be complete! Is that Peppermint_M on the bass? Quote
polarbomber Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 nice review , hazel makes some good stuff , check out his iron man mask and his sci fi stuff , and yes his packaging is very professional Quote
AoNZ Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Great review. I guess it is hard to make a guitar case that can fit the guitar but still be in scale. He's also made some Trans-coloured ones too. I think the quality is great but there are minor headgear issues when fitting them on. Some too tight and some too loose but other than that they look amazing. Quote
Matn Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Very nice review, it has convinced me to get me some of these. However... Did it cost very much? I'm thinking about buying the wonderful headpieces and a Telecaster(/or is it a Statocaster) and a Gibson. I'm not into non-purist ideas, but I would love to get me some of these. The plastic seems of excellent quality and the hairpieces look pretty unique. Quote
Big Cam Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Vey cool, I didn't even know these existed. Too bad about the cases, but I suppose with such a big guitar. Quote

Matn Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 No problem then, the beautiful packaging makes up for that. Where did you buy yours, as I can't seem to find a store that also sells the orange headpiece? Quote
Wout Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Wow, that's looks great. Just in time for Lego Rock Band. Quote

I can't believe I forgot to post a link to the store: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=AMAZING_ARMORY The guitar set is categorized under "Minifig Weapons"... I think the orange headpiece sold out!! I brought 4 of them; so I'm satisfied! Edited March 23, 2010 by tin7 Quote
VBBN Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Thanks for the review, I've never heard of this customizer but I do say that the pieces look fairly nice. Though as others have said, those guitar cases are quite silly, look like stilts to me. Quote
jonwil Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Those guitars look great, I wish I could order a set but I cant use PayPal. Lets hope those guys can get an Australian reseller sometime soon :) Quote
Hound Knight Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Those look great, and the packaging is incredible! I guess I'll have to wait to get some because they seem to be out of stock at the moment. Quote
Eilif Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Great review. Looks like some very high quality parts. I have to say though, I'm dissapointed that there is only one electric bass included, and no 4 string bass. A 5 string Explorer bass is not a very common instrument and the ubiquitous 4 string fender jazz or precision bass would have been a much better inclusion. If anyone's interested, some changes have been made, but the instruments included are closest to (in order on back of package): Ibanez Iceman BC Rich Warlock Fender Stratocaster BC Rich Mockingbird Gibson SG Paul Reed Smith McCarty (Based on a Gibson Les Paul) Gibson Explorer bass (5 string for some reason...) Gibson Flying V I'm torn as whether to bite the bullet and put down what seems like way too much money for the set, or just to wait for the inevitable other cheaper guitars and a more standard bass to appear, as they eventually will. All that said, being a bass player, if this had more or better bass content, I would buy it for sure. Quote
