Jasper Joppe Geers Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 It just depends on what a farm should look like on the whole. The main thing i liked about farm are the machinery. Tractors, harvesters, ploughs, potato harvesters etc.. Tractors and ploughs should be something to collect. And try to create some of your own! See how that works... What happens inside a harvester anyway? Does anyone know? For as long as i play with lego (over 30 years...) i wandered why we can't have tires with the traditional V shape profile on them! That would make it a tractor to me. And while we're on the subject: why not special tiles/bricks that could be used to create acres with crops or grass or mud... Such details are the ones that make a farm. Not just any horse stable and another animal mold... Quote
meyerc13 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I'm really missing the farm theme. I was on a business trip this past week and my son and daughter knew I was stopping at the LEGO store and asked me to pick something up for them there. My son asked for a Pharaoh's Quest set, but my daughter wanted a barn. There aren't really any LEGO sets out now that appeal to a little girl. It's a shame really, because in the Duplo line there are many sets that would appeal to both boys and girls. LEGO, please bring back farm, and this time with more sets under $25. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I wonder why Lego on their online pick a brick store, they don't sell cows and pigs separately? I think they would sell well? Quote
autobrick Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I wonder why Lego on their online pick a brick store, they don't sell cows and pigs separately? I think they would sell well? Pigs are available in many sets (including an impulse set), but cows are harder to get because they are cash cows (heh) for Lego. Cows are only available in big sets (MMV and 7637 Farm) as an incentive to drive people into buying them. Offering cows separately would cut into that. This is the same thing Lego does with exclusive minifigs (although magnets could have been considered to be substitutes). I would love to the Farm subtheme continue on as it is a nice change from all of the Police/Firefighter sets. However, judging by the leaked 2011 sets I am not so confident it will. Quote
Haltiamieli Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I might be an optimist, but I could wager a small bet (but only small ) that we'll see some kind of domestic animal park or petting zoo set in 2012, with pigs, goats and chicken. It just seems such an obvious opportunity now that we (soon) have the new goat mold: it's not a very useful animal for more serious farm sets, but would fit perfectly for a domestic animal park. Add in a kid-minifig with a parent and voilà – you have a winner! Quote
eti Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 So, why not create a different surfaced tile to create the acres with? So far, all tiles are just polished surfaced ones. Why not with some texture to create e.g. grass? or dirt? Wow, what an idea. Grass textured tiles! AFOLS are going to order them by MILLIONS in order to have a grassy underground for Star Wars battle scenes of 15 square meters... Quote
