Sigh... And I was just starting to save money by not spending so much on Lego, too...

I absolutely love Seso. I'm a little fed up with my lack of variety in dark-skinned heads... perfect timing, I say.

Thanks for the lovely review Clone O'Patra, this set looks superb. I love that palace building in particular, the colour scheme looks great on it. The minifigs too are top-notch, all of that printing is great.

I'm not too sure about that camel yet though, it looks a little too tall for a minifig. If you don't mind, could you share with us a comparison pic of the camel with a horse (and maybe one of the camel without it's saddle too)?

Thanks again for the review. Now I'll definitely have to pick this one up.

Thanks for the great review! Well, maybe I shouldn't be too thankful, since it forced inspired me to go out and buy it myself.

This is the biggest set I've purchased at full price in quite a long time... totally worth it.

Re: the doors that don't quite close... mine close just fine. Try giving the support posts a bit of a twist, maybe? The angle of the support pieces will very slightly affect how well the doors meet in the middle.

Hey.. That extra dagger might mean the Fight set comes with an extra...

It doesn't.

I was a bit iffy about this set, but now I love it :thumbup:

I agree absolutely! I too was a bit skeptical about this set, but after this great review i might just get into POP theme after all!

Absolutely fantastic review! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks so much for the review, the only thing to make this better would be 1 more soldier...ah well. I agree, it does look like Gool has jeans, but at least he doesn't have a leather jacket--what kind of name is that anyway?

Thanks for the brilliant review Clone'O'Patra! This is a great set that I am very interested in buying, though sadly will probably have ot pass due to lack of money. I love the use of colours and the parts are all great too. I really need another black character for my Batman universe too... :cry_sad:

Oh well, maybe I'll get it on sale, either way I'm glad Prince of Persia is of such high quality!

Batbrick Away!

What a fantastic review! If I was into the PoP sets this would be on my list for sure, you get so many cool figs and some awesome pieces. I love all the pictures you've taken, you covered more than every angle.

I just ordered my own copy from Shop@Home, w/ a $5 off coupon, mind you, and it subtracted the money from the SET, so it had $9 shipping instead of $11. But it says they can't deliver before Easter...why not? It's still 6 days away. Now for questions:

1) do the figs have bad quality plastic torsos, like Pirates, Medieval Market Village-:sing: and about 20 of my clones!!! grrr.....

2)ARE the axes taller? they seem to have gotten a tattoo on their blades...

Great review

Have not commented on anything POP related to this day

I am not a fan of the theme but these sets have some good parts.

Really like the Middle East layouts too, needs some palm trees to be complete however

Fortunately the 2 smaller sets have the ostrich and camel and those are what interest me most

This is a really cool set. I did a few mods on the build like substituting round 1x1 bricks for the bamboo and stacking the bamboo on either side of the large dome for a rooftop garden. I also turned the throne sideways looking towards the center of the back section instead of facing back out.

Nice build, nice parts, nice minifigs!

Great Review! I stopped by Toys R us today and picked this set up. It looks like it's a fun build. I just haven't decided if I should build it now, or wait until I move into my new house the end of April.

Thanks for your responses, everyone. This truly is a great set.

There were a few questions asked over the five pages, and I may go through and try to answer all of them at some point.

For now, I will say that everything is great quality, no issues or anything like that, and the new sand dark orange bricks don't actually have any different shades - they're all about the same color.

Also, the axes are NOT any taller. They are clearly a re-mould of the old axe piece (since they have a new weird circle on one side), but they are the exact same dimensions as the old axe.

Just got my copy yesterday, built it, and what's with the tiny courtyard?! Now how am I supposed to have an army of crusaders riding through there? By the way, why doesn't the camel come with the back-filler thing? Shame on ye, TLG. However, I love the minifigs.

I went to Downtown Disney to watch Clash of the Titans. Strolled into the LEGO shop, and the next thing I know I walked out with a big lego bag containing Battle of Alamut... Uh, what just happened?

This is a great set! Although it is the highest price set in the theme, in my opinion it is the lowest cost one in terms of overall value, I have done a quick analysis based on the local pricing and only 7570 The Ostrich Race comes close in "price-performance".

Many thanks for taking the time to present us this review Clone O'Patra.

This looks like a stunning set and by most accounts people love it. I really like the look and feel that can be achieved with all these stylised bricks, new colours and mini-figs. As yet I've only ordered the 3 smallest sets but reckon I'll collect all five. Can't wait to get playing with them!

Just got this beauty as a late xmas gift from myself to myself  got it for 59€ from Amazon UK.

It has been a long time since I've built anything aside from Star Wars, it felt good to build a building instead of a spaceship. Took me an hour or so to complete the whole thing. The numbered bags help a lot, but at the same time it makes me feel like I'm building several smaller sets... so I dump all the parts on the same pile so I can have that "looking for the X part" rush

The minifigs are simply awesome, I especially like Nizan and the camel. The soldiers look great with the dark red

The play features are also nice, even though not for me. The small ballista could use real flick missiles (but only if they worked well...) as these simply fall, although they can fly away for quite a distance if you flick them the right way. The catapults work pretty well, and the barrels dropping the oil is very reminiscent of the film. I'm not so fond of both wall features. The moving stairs look silly from the outside, and the falling wall is just annoying in case it's not snugly fit into the main wall. All the studs on the walls are nice to have Dastan exercising his parkour skills. The small trap to hold the dagger could be better conceived, with some sort of mechanism.

This set is also a gold mine for new parts and the new caramel colour. I was a bit disappointed with the big white collunms, as I thought it would be built out of regular 2x2 round bricks. The palace can be easily extended with another similar set, due to the modularity of the walls. I do not like open fortresses like this or the latests castles edited in the Castle theme, but I understand that it may be more appealing for kids to play.

Overall, I really like this set, especially since I paid a lower price for it. Inspired me to build some Arabic MOC, which is a culture I've always been fascinated for.

Would this set for 50 bucks be worth it used? Or would Fight for the Dagger for 20 be better?

Both are good sets, and I have them both, but this one is better. If you have the 50 dollars, certainly buy Alamut. Even if you're not that into the set or even the minifigures, the shear magnitude of cool parts and nice colors are worth it.

This set is well worth the original $80, and certainly $50. I doubt you could be remotely disappointed, and I mean that fully.

When you say used, do you mean used and complete, or used and missing stuff? That would certainly make a difference. I find used and complete to be no different than new really; this set is certainly worth $50 complete.

Complete, with instruction but no box. I'm just hesitant to get it, as I spent 52 bucks yesterday at the Lego store and would like to not overspend but it seems like a good deal. I wish that white headpiece in the Fight for the Dagger was in this one though. =/
