AMuller396 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Ive been on the fence lately on getting a 7676. I think its a real great set. Ive bought one before but not for myself, as a gift to a friend. There have been rumors that there is plan to discontinue this set by summer? Not sure if this is true or not. This set has been on the market now since July 2008, so how much longer till we see it gone for good? Doesn't Lego keep things for 3 years? Obviously I should go get one NOW before its too late. Thanks
AFOL SF Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I'm not sure where your location is... city, country... but here in northern California, USA, I have not seen this set in the stores (Target, Walmart, Toys R' Us and Lego brand store) since October or November of 2009. My suggestion is for you to buy one if you do see it, funds allowing... Good luck!
Darth Legolas Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Buy the next one you see! I highly doubt it will be around for much longer, as it hasn't been in stores around here for a while. It's continuation is on it's last legs! I had to MOD the set a lot, but overall it's great, and probably one of the few remakes better than the original.
Sid Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 This has to be in my top 5 favorite SW sets. I own a few of these. They're hard to find in stores, but there's a hidden TRU in my area that a lot of people must not visit because they had 5 last night. It's definitely worth picking up. It brings very good and valuable figs, too. Assajj Ventress / Plo Koon / Cody.
FinalFeature Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Get it if you can find one. I have not seen one since the ending of 2009 in California or massachusetts. Definably a good set to get. Lego website still has it available, Link. Here are some links to reviews if you ideas of whats in the set: Hotshot review pr0visorak review Casval review JimTeacher review LegoGalactus Edited April 1, 2010 by LegoGalactus
Oky Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Sorry to break it to you, but as of now, the Republic Gunship is no longer available. It has vanished from Shop @ Home, TRU, Target, and any other major shopping site. Sorry. APRIL FOOLS! :-P
KinGanon Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Yes I would recommend picking it up really soon. This is arguably one of the best CW sets, and getting it at an aftermarket value will be painful. So long story short, next RGS you see get it!
gunm Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I don't think the current availability can be accurately used to judge how much longer Lego plans to sell this set. First, it's a pricey set for a toy, which means Lego doesn't make as much of it since stores are less likely to carry large inventories of what they believe are "luxury" items. Second, it is very popular among SW and CW fans, so whatever stock comes in to stores are probably sold off rather quickly. On the whole, the set has been positively reviewed, and most SW and CW collectors want this in their collections. If you are in that category, then you should simply purchase the set as soon as it's financially reasonable for you to do so. I believe you still have plenty of time to save up for this one. Good luck.
Legoman Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I doubt they'll be around much longer, unfortunately. Hence I'm planning on picking a couple up before they disappear!
Seijitai Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I can't say for the rest of the world, but according to the retail catalogue I've seen in Belgium, set 7676 Republic Gunship and 7675 AT-TE will be discontinued in less than two months (not available after may 31st if I remember correctly...). So get it ASAP, it's a wonderful set !
KimT Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Such a question either belongs in the "Star Wars Sets Anyone?" topic (pinned) on availability and prices. Or simply put the question up in the Buy/Sell/Trade/Finds Forum. I'll move this there.
BlueDragonZ Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 This set will no longer be produced in the summer along with the AT-TE. I highly suggest getting it now before it disappears as the lowest prices on bricklink are near retail even when its still being sold at shop @ home.
k_peek_2000 Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Get one, it's an awesome set and the ship looks amazing. I got 2 of them on ebay for about the price of a regular new one.
gunm Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Just a quick update: I contacted Lego US customer service this week and they could only confirm that the set is slated to be discontinued "later this year". They could not provide a particular time frame. Best bet for people looking to buy does indeed seem to be "the sooner, the better".
