wooootles Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) Woot again, my 3rd official MOC: Grand Tourer! EDIT DOWN BELOW: ITS MEANER SIDE! Grand Tourer RS ANOTHER EDIT: NEW REVISION, AND IT'S BLACK Yes, it's big. I wanted the long hood to give it that "it has a big V-8" feel. Its also my first attempt at garnering a million jumper pieces and make the body 5-wide (though the chassis is 6-wide). Comments? Suggestions? Thanks. NEW REVISION, minor changes! lightningtiger Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Oh, Yeah ! (Chef Mundal - Chowder) Sweet but AWESOME ride 'wooootles' - I really like it's lines and of course RED too ! Cool design and great work there, and you I'm a conformist! 'wooootles' I'm a conformist! ! Quote

Rick Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 That turned out really nice wooootles. I like that you made it 5-wide, the proportions are pretty good this way. Quote
jonwil Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Nice MOC, you have given me some ideas on how I can build some sports cars in 6-wide for the next train layout we are doing. Quote
wooootles Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I like the proportions too, and the 5-wide body in a 6-wide chassis doesn't make it that large compared to 6-wide body trucks (with 7-wide wheels), and I'd like to build some more cars like this. Best side view here: I tried to make it more like a Corvette/Aston Martin/Ferrari 599GTB of sorts. Also, I'll try some variants regarding this car. Edited April 6, 2010 by wooootles Quote
wooootles Posted April 7, 2010 Author Posted April 7, 2010 (edited) I already upgraded it. Like some supercars and grand tourers, they almost always seem to have a more outrageous, more race track-oriented sibling. So I made one for my GT car! Tested and approved by The Stig. took me quite a bit of research to find a set of black wheels but even since I found them I saved them for something like this. Bigger vents, stripes... yeah. So, which do you guys prefer, standard version, or the sporty track version? Edited April 7, 2010 by wooootles Quote
prateek Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I like the stripe, but not the bigger vents on the hood. They take away from the streamlined effect. Other than that, awesome car Quote
Willdog Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Very sleek. I love small but complex MOCs. If only Lego would release some cool small vehicle like this. Thanks for the inspiration. Quote
Lord Arjay Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Thats good wooootles. I think that the first one look sleek and streamlined. Definetly like something I'd see zooming around the streets. Very realistic. Whereas the second one is definitely more like a track car. IMHO the vents fit that car quite well. Quote
wooootles Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Thanks again for the comments! I think I can bring the bigger vent on the track car down a plate, though Im not sure if I want to do that right away. Building another one as of right now. Quote
tulatin Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Thanks again for the comments!I think I can bring the bigger vent on the track car down a plate, though Im not sure if I want to do that right away. Building another one as of right now. You may as well finish streamlining it, for a track version I mean. Remove the mirrors and the vents to give it nice clean lines, and try to bring the cleese slopes on the doors in line with the frame. Quote
wooootles Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 more feedback, thanks guys! You may as well finish streamlining it, for a track version I mean. Remove the mirrors and the vents to give it nice clean lines, and try to bring the cleese slopes on the doors in line with the frame. Well, it's not a 'race car' version, per se. Still a road-legal car that has serious track capability, like... Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Dodge Viper ACR, things like that.... so the mirror stays I kinda shifted my main focus on bigger projects but yeah, still thinking of a clean way to remove some kinks when I can, heheh Quote
Noworries Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Looks like a fusion between a Morgan Roadster and a Bugatti EB110. I really like it! Quote
FinalFeature Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I like the white stripe version better wooootles. Can a minifigure sit in it? Quote
wooootles Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 I like the white stripe version better wooootles. Can a minifigure sit in it? Absolutely! You can see the Stig minifigure sitting upright inside the car in the first pic (on the track version), and there is also a lady minifig in the original car sitting upright. Thanks for more feedback. Peppermint_M Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Stripe Nice car, it looks perfectly scaled for the right "look" and it fits into a town without looking strange. Very sporty. Quote
DJ Force Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I like both the same. Excellent design. It definetly captures that C3 ´Vette feeling! If only TLG would make a windshield like that in 6wide... Quote
wooootles Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Glad you like it guys You'll definitely see both of these babies driving around in my future town along with other LEGO CITY vehicles. Quote
Big Cam Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Very nice, it reminds me of a Ferrari California, and I like that the Stig is testing it. Quote

gormadoc Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 This car is magnificent! I just love the design. Are you planning to build anymore cars in the future? Quote
wooootles Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 More feedback!!! Thanks guys. The Stig preferred it too, being a 'driver's car' and all Are you planning to build anymore cars in the future? Yeah. As for sports cars I only have 2 so far (track version, and I converted the original Grand Tourer in black, but can't find camera batteries atm), but I'll keep building more, as long as I get more bricks. I'm trying to design another (completely different) car but so far it's still tough for me to work with this 5-wide body/6-wide chassis setup, so yeah. Quote
bricked one Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 This car is awesome, I may try to build a 6 wide version so I can put it with my other 6 wides. Quote
