Wout Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 This is a great Addition to Prince of Persia sets. When will TLC ask you to come work for them? Quote
Jack Bricker Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I have to say that this MOC is incredible. Great job. I really like the design on the side and the market. I also like how you used the different torsos in order to creat the different characters. Really nick MOC. Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 This is a great Addition to Prince of Persia sets. When will TLC ask you to come work for them? I don't think so, unless it was a UCS or something similar. IMO Lego doesn't put enough detail in, probably because the age group. Quote
Piratedave84 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 stuning ... quite simply stuning!!! The mosaic is probably my favorite part. I also like the arches in front. Awesome work!! Quote
dabulls03 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 This is simply inspirational. You have truly out done yourself this time Svelte. All the small details are what make this MOC great. Prince of Persia might be the best theme for MOCs TLG has every made. Look at all those pieces in such beautiful colors. I will definitely make time to create some Prince of Persia MOCs in the future. Quote
Capt. Thomas Foolery Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Svelte, your MOC brilliance continues to impress and incite rampant jealousy. And thanks to you, LEGO lost a sale a couple days ago for as I was at my local Toys R Us, pondering whether I should buy just one Fight for the Dagger set or two and try to create some kind of Middle Eastern themed marketplace (for a real Indiana Jones Cairo Ambush), I remembered this MOC you created, spiraled into a fit of shame of worthlessness, and realized I would never create something as remarkable as you have. So, thanks for that. It was nice of you. Call me a fawning sycophant. Call me a brown-noser. Or simply call me by my screen name. But I am always in awe of the creativity and skill you demonstrate in your MOCs. Thanks for sharing them with us! If my genitalia were constructed of LEGO, your MOCs would likely give me Brickrections. (Did you see what I did there? No, not there, but there - the pun! Yeah, I thought it was pretty lame too. Sorry.) Please keep churning out magnificence. And your absurdly hilarious reviews too! Kudos! PS - Is that a hookah/nargile among the kitsch and curios the vendor is selling? Quote
Svelte Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 PS - Is that a hookah/nargile among the kitsch and curios the vendor is selling? Mwahaahah! Maybe 1/2 of one. It's missing the pipe, so it's 1/2 price. You're the first to notice Thanks for all your high flattery. I might change my signature to 'Proudly providing AFOLs with Brickrections since 2008' or something Quote
pedro Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Superb work yet again svelte. And fantastic use of pieces there - especially love your use of the headlight brick - ingenious! I haven't even seen these sets set and already you've had the chance t stock up and get to work! Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with. Quote
Capt. Thomas Foolery Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Mwahaahah! Maybe 1/2 of one. It's missing the pipe, so it's 1/2 price. You're the first to notice Thanks to having walked many a crowded, covered bazaar from my time living in Turkey, I've honed my hookah identifying skills. It's a rather clever way you've devised to construct it. True, no pipe. But what kind of message would we be sending to these poor, impressionable minifigs if we encouraged smoking? Even if the tobacco does taste like delicious apples? Quote
Siegfried Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 You again? You're fast becoming my favorite MOCist! This is stunning! The arches work so well and as usual your MOCs look interesting yet not over-done. In fact the way you've made it this could be an official set! I'm so convinced that I'm looking forward to the rest of the PoP modular line! It really does resemble the reference picture too. (Interesting side note; In was doing some research on Mehrangarh Fort the other day as I briefly considered trying to make it. I then decided I was going insane so instead I talked myself out of it.) I love the use of the Fabuland saddle. There are some great Fabuland parts that are not used enough, and that is one of them. Is there much depth to the balconies? Where's that flute from? Quote
Zorbas Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 If only I had your talent... This is amazing! Well done Svelte! Not only it is beautiful but it really captures the whole oriental-arabic feeling too. You've used some elements that definitely make the difference like the colour scheme, the main arches, the recessed ones and the mosaic. This is clearly one of your most beautiful MOCs, hands down! Interesting new title btw. Quote
______ Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Great work, hoping to see more, by the looks of the tan technic clips on the side it looks like your going to add more to it? Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Great work, hoping to see more, by the looks of the tan technic clips on the side it looks like your going to add more to it? That, or it can fit in with modular buildings(which I would like picture of if true). Quote

(Interesting side note; In was doing some research on Mehrangarh Fort the other day as I briefly considered trying to make it. I then decided I was going insane so instead I talked myself out of it.) Flattery will get you everwhere! Travelling and seeing some of this architecture really made a difference when building this MOC. There's definitely potential for fort-uitois expansions but what is missing from LEGO's piece repertoire is the inverse of the new pointed arch to give the typically curvy crenellations along the top wall of crenellations (as in the ref pic below). You could use one of the small curved slopes but none of the colours are really available (except white). AFOLS - we always want more! I love the use of the Fabuland saddle. There are some great Fabuland parts that are not used enough, and that is one of them. Is there much depth to the balconies? Where's that flute from? The Fabuland saddle was just an addition to an old Bricklink order from last year, so I'm glad to finally put it to use. The flute is the same - just a random BL addition - but actually comes from the Harry Potter Forbidden Corridor set. This is clearly one of your most beautiful MOCs, hands down! Thanks Zorbas! Yes, I think it's one of my best too Great work, hoping to see more, by the looks of the tan technic clips on the side it looks like your going to add more to it? The potential is there but realistically you'd be adding just fortress wall sections either side of the gate, which might look a little dull. I like the concept of modularity, and the buildings are a good size, so I always like to build in some flexibility That, or it can fit in with modular buildings(which I would like picture of if true). Yes, it can, although the style doesn't match with anything officially produced! Quote

At the moment the MOC I'm working on has me saying "I want an inverse cheese slope!". Huntmaster Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I wish I had all that tan. but this is just awesome! The gate sloping down inward is also really cool. Quote
MIDAS Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Just beautiful, Svelte! Though I must ask, did you get more pearl gold domes from Bricklink, did you buy multiple sets or do they all appear naturally. I must also ask what the orange saddle piece is from! Quote
Bingo Little Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 So there I sat a few hours ago, watching tv and fiddling with five or six headlight bricks... I made exactly the same pattern. You did it on a better scale, quite some time ago, and on a truly awesome model, though I almost wish there was more market place, as the little human details there are so amazing. Quote
P_Squared Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 That is great, i'd love to add it to my collection. When it comes to PoP, you are the best svelte. All your reviews make me want to buy multiples of all the sets. Keep up the impressive work! Quote
Cara Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) This is beautiful! Its all the little touches that bring it to life. I too wish LEGO had have made someting like that. I woud buy it in a heart beat. I'm thankful this thread was bumped so that I could see it. Edited October 13, 2010 by Cara Quote
shutinc Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Truly a wonderful moc! I love the use of arches and the headlight brick for mossaic! I watched the movie today and I really ejoyed seeing this moc just after. Well done! Quote
