KimT Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 (edited) The Great Review on Brickarms parts. During the past few years or so, I've managed to get hold of quite a fine bunch of Brickarms weaponry and minifigs. Now it's time to have a closer look and evaluate them. Earlier I was a purist when it came to LEGO - no clone brands and certainly no customized parts. - Be that modified or custom made That all changed when I stumbled upon the customs done by Brickarms - I instantly felt the need to own some and within long I did First let's have a look at the two custom minifigs, I've managed to get I present, the "Resistance Trooper" This guy fears nothing, he's constantly fighting birds of prey and tanks with his trusted weapons and when he's not, then he's fighting Terminators instead. I bet that why he's got such a grim smile "Smashing Machines to save humanity!" - what better catch-line can you get? Utility vest, ammo clip, AC8 in hand and HCSR strapped on his back. This guy means business, that's for sure. And when it gets real messy, he's got a bipod to ease aiming his .50 slugger at some baddies I once met a rifle like that. Luckily the guy who had it was on our side. A High Caliber Sniper Rifle is not something to mess with. A .50 bullet at 2000 metres will take your arm off - or your head for that sake And in comes the "Bad Guy" Mr Terminator himself. Now it might be that our "hero" packs a serious rifle and some 'nades, but this fella packs iron skeleton and a minigun that'll tear down a rain forest in seconds or a lot of police cars - depending on which Schwarzenegger moview you prefer And I think we prefer Terminator in this review. And it even works IRL After seeing what the minigun can do, backup arrives to aid the Resistance Trooper. Sadly all that could be found at short notice was this And it seems our photographer caught them at a intimate moment Anyho' they brought a crate of "whoop-that-metal-thing's-megablocks-stuff" Tadaa! First round unpacked and ready to be utilized - or not! "Let's have a deeper look in that crate people!" What are you guys thinking? Vacuum to death after a carpet beating? "Last chance to get something good out of this thing!" "Right, what have we got?" "Spoon, wrench, brush and medieval swords!" "Medieval Swords!" Yessir! medieval swords and a helmet to go with them!" And now I'd better stop, as I am not much of a comic and it'll take forever to present all the stuff I took pictures of. So let's get down to business: The good ol' bat /slugger and a couple of mean looking dados. Both are very usefull - that bat can be used in almost anything from modern cities to mafia settings and Apoc dioramas. A must have together with the dadao sword More medieval swords - not much to say. They're a nice addition to one's ever growing army of medieval infantry and knights. Oddly it seems I got a mismold - I bet that'll be worth a bunch on eBay some day Syringe and scalpel - perfect for evil doctors / reanimators / hospitals drug addicts and what have you. And now we switch to "Guns" (cue the NRA community song) The BAR rifle is a perfect interpretation in my eyes - classic WW2 weapon now available by Brickarms. And so is the StG44 Vampir - I've even tried to handle a very similar weapon with a infrared light and scope. The weigth is killing you when trying to aim at anything. Luckily the size issue with IR and LI has been sorted out since then. Assault Carbine Model 8 - stunning and fits a minifig perfectly. Another look at the "Grizzly Hunter" rifle of all times. Just look at that muzzle brake design So Barrett M82A1 MG42 - a reliable way to pound the enemy senseless and certainly a must have, if you plan a D-Day MOC. 2 Types of ammos - drum canister or ammo belt. Another classic, the M1 Carbine. Nice rifle. M47 Tactical pumpgun with scope. It's bound to make a lot of noise and fill the room with slugs in an instant. RPG - Rocket Propellar Grenade. Not quite sure which weapon this is - it's trans that's for sure. Gunblade It's evil to look at and probably quite useless IRL - but it's still cool and more than useable in for example and Apoc MOC. A scoped, trans clear little pistol. Again I am at a loss at the name of it. Han Solo's Blaster. I wish I had this one in black - so many Han's really need this. Wait isn't that Han holding it already? Sawed off shotgun - now I can't imagine a LEGO world without this. "This is my BOOM-STICK!" Nothing else to add, is there? Erhm! Flame Gun from Logan's Run Longslides. I instantly have "bullet-time" scenes from Max Payne (not the movie) in my head. Same thing, just with sub-machineguns this time. That and this: Best shootout scene ever made Another fine rifle to equip soldiers in modern times or sci-fi settings. Pistols - perfect in my opinion. What better way to ride through town that packing 2 of these? The Combat PDW - a very potent close counters spray weapon. And a little pistol for the man who needs a golden gun. I bet he wanted one here: And a little tease - gunblade and sawed off in nice trans colours. "Weapon strap-on's"' (meant non-offensively) The "clip" - used for a bundle of weapon strap-on's... A heavy blade - more scary than the regular bayonet. Chainblade - perhaps that's more scary than the heavy blade? Classic bayonet. And another mismolded one - not that it really "hurts", because this might prove a quite usefull size on smaller weapons? Trans blades ready for a little cutting. And bayonets ready for some stabbin' And finally a few "non-strap-ons". The classic pineapple grenade and M203 grenade launcher often seen on M16 Rifles (or C7A1 as the Canadian one I used in the military was named). Wave goodbye at the spyish guy and welcome the Alien Fella, who'll take us on a short tour of Sci-Fi weapons: "Alien Sci-Fi pack+" "Hi I'm.... well... my name is.... Let's just get on with it!" A nice classic looking space gun which comes in many colours at your preference. Personally I like the yellow one the most. I can easily imagine a load of Classic Space figs holding these in their individual colour. Not quite sure what this thingy is named, but it sure look sci-fi to me. Needle Gun Now this one I do know. The Plasma Blade Sci-Fi'ish looking guns. Sure to come in handy in most space settings. Space pistols So cute and tiny. And finally a picture of my entire stash so far: The lot Edited June 14, 2010 by KimT names updated Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Very nice retrospecrice on Brickarms products. The way you put it together was very entertaining as well. You really have amassed a great deal of their products. I love them too but don't have nearly as many as you. Quote
legitimatealex Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Dear lord its a like a review for the entirety of Brickarms. Very funny Quote
Omicron Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 A scoped, trans clear little pistol.Again I am at a loss at the name of it. Han Solo's Blaster Erhm! Flame Gun from Logan's Run :P Not quite sure what this thingy is named, but it sure look sci-fi to me. The common name is the Needler which is what it is called in Halo but to avoid any copyright issues I believe Will calls it the Needle Gun or some variant of that. Anyways I am very envious of your trans blue gunblade! :) -Omi Quote
KimT Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 Han Solo's Blaster Anyways I am very envious of your trans blue gunblade! :) It's a very nice one indeed. Thanks for the name updates. I've added them to the review. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Thanks 'KimT' for this mega review, dam it I want everything - I could do city, WWII or even Captain Video (50's sci-fi tv show) ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
TheCrimsonTrooper Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 That sure is quite the collection you have going there. It may be smaller than my own Brickarms collection, but it certainly has a greater amount of rare Brickarms. And before I forget, nice review. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 You sure are lucky to get your hands on the minifigs, they were convention exclusives!!! If you are expanding your horizons (purist wise) I recommend The Little Arms Shop for all of your SW minifigs needs. Brickarms are great though, I have made two orders so far, and they all shipped quickly and were top-notch quality. Quote
LuxorV Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Great and funny review, KimT Thanks for sharing it. Quote
KimT Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 You sure are lucky to get your hands on the minifigs, they were convention exclusives! Yeah I know. A great guy got them for me and I am really thankful. Those minifigs are awesome in my opinion. Quote
JimBee Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Thanks for all of these custom Lego parts reviews, Kim. I've been meaning to buy some BA weapons for quite some time now, but I never seem to have the time, interest, or money. They sure look amazing, but I'm not sure if I really need them. Anyway, great review on these. I like how you included movie clips (Goldfinger...) to show what these weapons are like. My personal favorite out of these reviewed here is probably the medieval sword (very gallant), but I also like the revolvers and that SW-ish rifle (under the "best shootout ever" video). There are so many BA products now. I'll have to take another look at their store. Quote
BrickClick Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Wow Kim T thats one amazing collection and an amazing review! My collection of BrickArms still stands at zero as I have only started to buy custom parts. Oh and that Gun Blade looks awesome! Quote
Santhor Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) Great review! You are/were a military guy, eh? Quote KimT "(or C7A1 as the Canadian one is used in the military was named)." I've come from a family of military personnel, and after I finish college, I plan to join up as well. Anyway, once again good review, and I salute you, sir! -Santhor Edited June 20, 2010 by Santhor Quote
The Legonater Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Just thought I'd add- the PDW is also known as a P-90. Quote
Santhor Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Just thought I'd add- the PDW is also known as a P-90. Ah yes, the P-90! (Off topic) If you've played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, you'll know it's arguably the best multiplayer gun. With rapid fire and extended mags, that is. Or the M16 with Holographic sights and a heartbeat sensor. Any other favorites out there? Anyway, I just ordered some BA, and they should be arriving soon! -Santhor Quote

Santhor Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 It's even more lethal in CounterStrikeSource P90 FTW I have yet to play that game. How about the AC8/XM8 in Battlefield: Bad Company 1 and 2? Not too shabby, IMO. -Santhor Quote
Commander Assassin Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 RPG - Rocket Propellar Grenade. Not quite sure which weapon this is - it's trans that's for sure. That RPG is really a Panzerfaust prototype. And the other gun is a Heavy Space Rifle. Quote
The Legonater Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Come to think of it, I think the space pistols are Phasers. Quote

The Legonater Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 It's even more lethal in CounterStrikeSource P90 FTW I know of it solely from Stargate, it's the main weapon in the latter half of SG-1, and all of Atlantis. Quote

Santhor Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Thanks Clone Commander Assassin, because I got my BA order yesterday-everything's great-and I got the heavy space rifle as a freebie! Yay! It kind of reminds me of the Wunderwaffe DG-2 from Nazi Zombies (CoD WaW) http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Wunderwaffe_DG-2 Sorry if the link doesn't work, I've been having trouble with that. -Santhor Quote
