Etzel Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Hi all, I'm new to this site. in fact i am pretty new to LEGO after a long break since childhoodBut im looking forward to getting an entry together for this awesome competition I gotta ask, if your called Eurobricks does that mean the competition is only open to Europeans or that the prizes will only be shipped inside of Europe or Not ? Any way loving the site and ill be visiting it, a lot now, Cheers Welcome back to LEGO, Fatyankee! Eurobricks are an international LEGO community that is open for LEGO fans all over the world, not just Europe. Everyone is allowed to enter the competition and the prizes will be sent to anywhere in the world. Good luck in the contest, I look forward to your entry.
Svelte Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 I'm from Russia and I haven't posted on Eurobricks yet. Can I participate in this contest? And, if yes, I have a question about 3rd category. Must I count the parts of brickbuilt animals and their acessories or not? Yes, you can participate, as it says in the rules. Since you joined before the start date, you can vote too. Yes, brickbuilt animals count as bricks. Why? Because they're made of bricks! Can our market stall be partly inside a building? Yes indeed. I know I'm a little late to the party, but I'll try the puppets. Another question: does a camel/horse and its back filler or saddle count as a piece? -Santhor Try the puppets; I hear they're delicious (Bad joke.) Camel is 1 piece, back filler counts as pieces, saddle counts as 1 piece. با تشکر از شما Hahahaah! Too clever
Santhor Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 (edited) Try the puppets; I hear they're delicious (Bad joke.) Camel is 1 piece, back filler counts as pieces, saddle counts as 1 piece. No, I thought the joke was good! Already finished my puppet theater-stall, I'll post pics as soon as I have time. -Santhor Edited April 19, 2010 by Santhor
Fatyankee Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Thanks for the warm welcome , I will try and get an entry in all 3 of the categories Let me just congratulate the guys running the show in advance for the great range in the events and on the awesome prizes to be won
sologuy369 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 [*]The word of the staff is final. They may have their own secret special prize to be awarded in each category on their unknowable and capricious whims. Anyone asking questions about the secret staff prize will be automatically disqualified. Seriously, don't even mention it So, what are the second place prizes? So the second place prize is also the secret prize!?!
Sandy Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I have a minor request: could the rules of each contest category be pasted into their respective Entry Threads as well? It would be logical to see the rules in the same place as the entries, so we can easier remind ourselves what requirements the category has. Thanks in advance!
awesomebrick Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Just ordered the fight for the dagger off S@H but it said it might be delayed due to the stupid volcano in iceland I'll try to enter all the catagories but I can't be sure And just one question does the market stall have to be a stall or can it just be someone selling stuff outside on the street? And thanks to the staff for making this! awesomebrick
Jargon Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 (edited) This looks like an excellent contest. I look forward to entering and have featured it on my blog. Edited April 20, 2010 by Jargon
Santhor Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Yeah, I want to enter category 1 (and 3), but with the 'it should look like something TLG might make' thing, does have to be stuffed with flick-fires and other play features? -Santhor
Svelte Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 Yeah, I want to enter category 1 (and 3), but with the 'it should look like something TLG might make' thing, does have to be stuffed with flick-fires and other play features? Since the Prince of Persia is a line almost completely unlike any other LEGO line in that it has basically no vehicles (apart from 2 carts and some ostriches), and only 2 flick fire missiles, draw your own conclusions. I mean, this is a line where the Alamut set mentions tipping boiling oil on your enemies as a play feature, how cool is that?
Tereglith Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I made a puppet show before I saw Santhor was doing it. My apologies, good fellow. Our Punch and Judy shows shall just have to battle it out like my and Eskallon's medium mini-golf entries did in PTV (mine lost that battle. Hmm, could be a bad sign...). I'm posting the pictures in a wee bit.
Dunjohn Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 My entry for Persian Version is coming along nicely. I went out and bought Fight for the Dagger to get some nice pieces for it, and I'm only after noticing that that's the prize for this category anyway. Still, I can hardly complain. The set has twenty of those lovely medium nougat arches, and what's better than twenty? Forty!

Glad to have some competition, and FYI I also had that idea for holding a weapon, I did NOT steal it. Great job on yours BTW. EDIT: Hey, nice pun: Punch...BATTLE..........hehehehe..... -Santhor, the Puppet Master Edited April 25, 2010 by Santhor
lego-maniac Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Just a little question about the First Category. You say "Expand the official universe by creating your own version of a LEGO Prince of Persia set. " do we must understand that it must look like an official set ? couldn't it be an UCS set ? thanks for your answer !
DNL Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I think i will be entering this contest. I have been wanting to make a LEGO set MOC for a while now, and since I won't need to use that many pieces i can easily build something without sorting all my unsorted mocs and loose pieces, which currently cover my whole building table and part of my floor... It's a pity there weren't any of the PoP sets in Billund while I was at the event, but it will also be fun to improvise with the parts that i have. At least i do have some new half-arches and tan bricks from the grand emporium.
Santhor Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Do puppets or brick-built puppet accessories (if its attached to the puppet) count towards pieces in category 3? -Santhor
Dunjohn Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Aww. I've just noticed that winners will be decided by public poll. That means I'll have to actually pick a favourite stall. Nothing's ever easy.

Svelte Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 Do puppets or brick-built puppet accessories (if its attached to the puppet) count towards pieces in category 3?-Santhor A puppet is not a minifig, so yes. Anything made of bricks counts towards the brick count. If a fig is holding a puppet, it doesn't count. Some amazing entries, everyone! I look forward to seeing more entries in Category 1 and Category 2 as the deadline looms closer...
Oky Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Don't worry, Svelte, I'm already working on an amazing entry for Category 2! Unfortunately, building time is short at the moment, plus I'm still waiting for parts to arrive, so it'll still take a while until I can finish and post it. By the way, I still can't figure out why TLC would sponsor a contest here on EB.

By the way, I still can't figure out why TLC would sponsor a contest here on EB. Yours is not to question why; yours is just to do and die. Do capes and cloth shapes count as pieces? Yes, unless they're part of the minifig or the minifig is holding them.
Oky Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 What about a minifig holding an animal by a leash? Does the animal count as a piece? How about the leash? Also, can we make a separate topic for our entry? Mine will be so awesome that it wont be possible to fully appreciate it in only 3 pics.
Svelte Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 What about a minifig holding an animal by a leash? Does the animal count as a piece? How about the leash? Also, can we make a separate topic for our entry? Mine will be so awesome that it wont be possible to fully appreciate it in only 3 pics. It depends how you connect the animal to the leash. If the leash is just resting on the animal, then the animal counts separately. If the leash is actually connected via a stud or other official LEGO connection, then the animal doesn't count towards total pieces. NO SEPARATE TOPICS FOR MOCS WHILE THE CONTEST IS IN OPERATION! It is unfair to other entrants who have complied with the rules to post separate topics. If you can't show off your entry within the framework of the rules then maybe your entry needs tweaking No exceptions will be granted to this rule, no matter how awesome the MOC is! After the winners are announced, however, entrants are welcome to post a separate topic with their MOC showing more views/ commentary.
