Svelte Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 Who wouldn't want a delicious gold scorpion or decapitated kitten? Great entries, keep them coming! Quote
Dunjohn Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) Four different carpet stalls, and four different carpet styles. Fantastic! I especially like the one that uses upside-down tiles, sorry, I forget the username. I've just entered my own stall, but I'll be surprised if it even makes a blip against competition like this. Three contests down, one to go. I might have to break up some of my other entires to expand the theme, I'm almost out of brown and tan. If anybody can point to a scene in the movie that can be accurately rendered entirely in lime green, let me know.... Edited April 28, 2010 by Dunjohn Quote
Svelte Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 Cameltraz is brilliant and hilarious! The camel even has that non-plussed expression, and a nice build Quote
metalslime Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I especially like the one that uses upside-down tiles, sorry, I forget the username. Thanks Dunjohn! I think your stall is really cool too, especially the chained claws and the erm, mini-minifigs! Quote

Skalldyr Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) Hi all. I've also put together a little something. Because I thought that the category number one, does not have enough contributions.... السلام عليكم Edited April 29, 2010 by Skalldyr Quote
brickzone Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Just posted my "expand the theme" entry. 550 pieces so the idea is a smaller big Lego set (or larger medium one if you would have it that way). Check out the modularity feature! Apologies if it's a custom Prince of Persia scenario, I have not seen the film nor played any of the games (though I have seen parts of some of them). The boat is modelled as a kind of dhow. Quote
Oky Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Great entries so far, everyone! Keep 'em coming! Some comments: Seso is using the Dagger of Time to prepare the meals! With time on his side, he must be the fastest cook alive! Awesome 1st category entries, ISC & brickzone! While ISC's is very creative and nicely designed, brickzone's looks just like a set TLC would do! Not even I am sure if I can beat that. @ Johnno: Your entry looks nice, but it does not look like a set at all. It's seriously lacking some play features and an interior. I recommend taking off the back wall and putting the treasure inside along with some traps. @ cralegoboy: That certainly is some exotic apparel, being from the 21st century and all. Someone has been using the Dagger of Time for his own profit, me thinks. Quote
Svelte Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 Great entry, brickzone! The dark orange does look very nice next to its more washed out nougat cousin You've used cloth parts creatively and the modularity feature is very much in keeping with LEGO's thinking. Solid building, amusing play feature - if there was a 'classic' Middle Eastern theme from the 80s, this would be one of the flagship sets! If it was official I'd be desperate to get my paws on it Apologies if it's a custom Prince of Persia scenario, I have not seen the film nor played any of the games (though I have seen parts of some of them). If you look at the rules, there is absolutely no requirement that Category 1 entries are based on any official license Quote
willy_poodle Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Nice entries everyone. But I have to point out a few things - Ostrich would jump over the fence in Masked Builder's stall - Some items are out of time and place. I guess some of them are intended to add some magic/time travel. Modern clothes, books, fez (the red cap) is to modern for ancient Persia. Ok, now I have to make something, but it's not easy now, when you've done everything already. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 *snip*- Some items are out of time and place. I guess some of them are intended to add some magic/time travel. Modern clothes, books, fez (the red cap) is to modern for ancient Persia. *snip* Strange things from Exotic Lands.... My entry is an Easter Egg extraveganza. Magic, fantasy, time travel... It's all subjective in an exotic eastern bazzar. Quote
pedro Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Just posted my entry for the Persian Version: Karaban ~ The Sand-cloud City! Great entries in all categories so far: I really like the Persian Version of Lavatraz, Cameltraz. really fun entry there, right down to the juicer! Nice work Dunjohn. brickzone, your Waterfront Abduction looks like it could be an actual LEGO set with some cool modular construction and modularity. ISC you never fail to please with your originalty... your UCS Sands of Time Hourglass no doubt would make an excellent talking point at any cocktail party - or ineed any other social occasion! Pulled some cool construction techniques there as always. Well done everyone who's entered so far. Can't wait to see what other entries the desert winds will bring! Quote
JimBee Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Nice one, pedro! Really creative entry, and based on a great set like Cloud City, too! You are forgiven for not having Stage II of Jedi Duel up yet. Quote
lego-maniac Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Hi. We still not found any Pop Set in France.... I think my moc will look pitty without any figs from the theme.... All the construction has been done with other parts but for the minifig, I'll have to find a solution... Quote
samurai-turtle Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I put up my entries for the contest. Making sure every thing is correctly submitted. Quote
Skalldyr Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I put up my entries for the contest. Making sure every thing is correctly submitted. You have used an amazing baseplate! Good job. Quote
prateek Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 My favourite entry so far is pedro's Persian version of Cloud City Quote
Oky Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Awesome entry, pedro! Excellent adaption of that set! Now you just need to make a shot of Nizam and Dastan having a katana duel where, at the end, Dastan gets his hand cut off and Nizam tells him he is his uncle. Samuraiturtle, your entries are also very good! Great use of that horrible baseplate. I just don't like the figs in the cavalry set. Dastan looks weird with his hair cut, and the imperial soldiers seem completely out of place. Quote

All the construction has been done with other parts but for the minifig, I'll have to find a solution... Is that your entry on your flickr page? It is looking pretty sweet As for figs, some people have been using a stubbly Indy head with brown hair as a Dastan substitute to pretty good effect Or check out the PoP avatar thread for clever inspiration Emperor Claudius Rome - you need to both reduce the size of your pics and also cut the number of images down to three. I expect entrants to be able to read and follow the rules with regards to posting their entries, so if you haven't submitted according to what the rules are, don't complain if you're disqualified when the voting commences. Honestly, the rules about posting are not hard to follow - I am not going to be hand-holding entrants to the finish line Any questions you may have will be answered in the Competition discussion thread. I wonder if this was directed towards me? This being my first contest I entered I was just making sure it was right, and I guess I was expecting a PM if I need to fix some thing. To get this back on topic thanks for every one who commented (so far) on my entries. And Oky Wan Kenobi you are right about the imperial solders do seems out of place. But I could not think of any thing better to replace stormtroopers with. And last I will comment on Johnno's "Trouble". That is a funny entry. I think that is going to get my vote. Quote

No, it wasn't directed at you And there will be no PMs, just the cruel and dictatorial whims of the Licensed moderators Quote
lego-maniac Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Is that your entry on your flickr page? It is looking pretty sweet good news ! ! I'm not the only member who look for over flickr's page ! yes it will be my entry soon. The project is still in progress but this is the general appearance ... For the minifigs, I've bought some magnets on the shop and I'm still waiting my command of the Pop set. (maybe ok for 15th ! --- argh, it will be short !) Quote
willy_poodle Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 samuraiturtle, where is that baseplate from? Quote
samurai-turtle Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 samuraiturtle, where is that baseplate from? From this set: 1728 Crystal Crawler Quote
