Duke Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 (edited) Half a league, half a league, Half a league onward, All in the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. "Forward, the Light Brigade! "Charge for the guns!" he said: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. "Forward, the Light Brigade!" Was there a man dismay'd? Not tho' the soldier knew Someone had blunder'd: Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred. Flash'd all their sabres bare, Flash'd as they turn'd in air, Sabring the gunners there, Charging an army, while All the world wonder'd: Plunged in the battery-smoke Right thro' the line they broke; Cossack and Russian Reel'd from the sabre stroke Shatter'd and sunder'd. Then they rode back, but not Not the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, While horse and hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro' the jaws of Death Back from the mouth of Hell, All that was left of them, Left of six hundred. When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made! All the world wondered. Honor the charge they made, Honor the Light Brigade, Noble six hundred. -Alfred Tennyson, Inspirational Picture: Pictures: Overview Amongst the action Overhead From Behind Edited April 29, 2010 by Duke Quote
hawkrider Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 A general yelling and a private keeping his cool,Just like a real battlefield .Also I see someone's head about to pop off! Quote
SlyOwl Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 I was hoping to see one of this battle, a great start! Are you planning on building up the sides of the valley and the Russian cannon batteries? I agree about horses being very difficult to pose well. Quote
Captain Becker Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Nice MOC st me, i like the flying cannong balls Keep it up Captain Becker Quote
General Redwater Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 (edited) Very good MOC. I really like the cannon balls flying and the horses charging. Someone`s about to lose their head! Keep up the great work. - General Redwater Edited April 17, 2010 by General Redwater Quote
NewRight Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Plenty of action going on here. I do hope you plan on adding a few soldiers, but other than that this is going to be a great entry. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Not bad, not bad 'Duke' - I never knew generals also carried the flag ? I really like that flying cannon ball trick - very clever very COOL ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Duke Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 Thanks for the ideas guys, i'm thinking about elongating it and adding a cliff along one side at the moment. I don't think I can add the Russian batteries unless it becomes huge! Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Looks good so far. I also wish Lego made horses that could me put in different positions. Keep it up! Quote
Duke Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 Decals applied (courtesy of the torso library), i'll hopefully post the finished product in the next day or two. Quote
Captain Becker Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 You have done those am,azingly, they looks absolutly same as in the painting (or i guess so) Anyway Great work keep it up Captain Becker Quote
Admiral Ron Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 That looks awesome, I may not know much about this event in History, but perhaps have some enemy soldiers running away from getting trampled? Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 The Blackcoats look great. I look froward to seeing the finished product. Quote
Ratshot Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Wow! I've never seen a Black Coat before. There looking really nice Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Great job on the decals! They look professional! Good luck on the contest. Quote
Duke Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) I'm glad you all like the torsos, I actually used a very simple technique of sticking the design to a piece of sellotape and then carefully trimming around to leave some overhanging tape to secure the design in place. The head and legs also help to anchor it down. I've now updated the first post as a semi-final entry style. I've basically reached the end of the opportunity I have to work on it, though I may have a chance to make some quick changes in late May just before the deadline! Looking forward to seeing some more entries emerging over the next few weeks. Edited April 29, 2010 by Duke Quote
