Griffin Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Hi guys! I have been lurking around here at EuroBricks for more than a year, but have not gotten around to introducing myself before now. My nickname is Griffin, basically based on the old Lego castle fractions (Black Falcons and Lion Knights) from the early 80's. I loved Lego when I was a kid, and finally went into my dark ages around 1998, when Lego started to juniorize too much in my opinion and I also turned 18 at that time. But finally came Cafe Corner and dragged me out of the dark ages. Since then I have been trying to get hold of older sets which I still want and also getting up to speed on collecting newer sets that I like. I particularly like Classic Town/City, trains and Pirates as well as the non-fantasy castle sets. My intent is to rebuild as much as possible of my Lego into a town (need to come up with a decent name though) and combine both old school Classic Town, the new City sets and also the much loved modular buildings into a hopefylly nice mix of new and old. I want to keep as many of the old sets as they are, maybe I will MOD them so that they get a rear wall, but I have not decided on that yet. I notice that some people think that the modular buildings is not really compatible with the city buildings and that one should not combine new and old road plates, but I hope I do this right and can make the integration as nice as possible. I mean, who have ever seene a real city in which every street looks the same and every building has the same design? My wife and I finally moved to a place with more space for the Lego collection, and this finally has given me the opportunity to start unpacking the good old sets and restore them as they once were (I do believe that after 20-25 years there might be some parts missing...). Here is a pic of what my "Lego-room" looks like at this stage. Click the pic above for a bigger picture On the left hand you might spot some Duplo sets. These are intended for our doughter whos is about 1,5 years now and has started playing with Duplo. So, from this point onward I hope that I will no longer just be a passive bystander and watch what is going on here at Eurobricks but also participate and contribute. And I hope that my links and pictures show and work properly... Griffin Quote
