Legoman Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Looks like you guys had a fantastic time including you legoman! I would love to go to and EB event if only they werent on the other side of the world Hey Ronc, Mabye we should start a NZ EB event? We can pritty much get flights anywhere in NZ under $100. I could try get Pat Beard involved too? That would make thing pritty sweet Also, When we spent the day with Gaston, He said to say hi to you guys (you'll know who you are). He said he was thinking about another one of your catchups or somthing, so don't be surprised if you get a call from him or somthing And yes, I did still manage to have a good time, dispite it all. Great fun thanks. And still managed to come home with too much Lego Quote
Izzy Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I would love to go to and EB event if only they werent on the other side of the world Take legoman and myself as examples, there is no excuse. No matter where in the world you are cough*where are all the Americans*cough you can still make it to an EB Event or make your own mini ones. I can personally recommend it, I thought it was definitely worth the effort to come from slightly further away, to get to spend time with all the faces behind the names that I have hung around with for the last few years. It was super great to meet all you flugers! And I'd like to say a big Thank You to Ras for doing some crazy good organising of this Event. From getting us all in to some really cool places, to just keeping track of everyone... it was all really appreciated. You are awesome! I will be very disappointed if there is not at least one more Aussie and one American making it to next years Event. Come on guys! It is Windsor, England!!! Who doesn't want to go there? Just a few extra shots to add to the pile: CopMike and Christian Dennis, Iz, Rick and Dana Cutlass Iz hanging with the Aqua Raider guys. Some of the Eventees in the Museum. Rick/ Captain Green Hair The Vikings on the Viking Splash Ride. Ras got soaked again this year. Quarry, Christian, Henning Ras, Mike and TT Boney, Jipay and Alex Quote
Legoman Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 (edited) Just after reading your post Iz, it reminded me, I was so dissapointed when I went to the US, Whenever People asked where I was from, and I answered New Zealand, they were all like "So, Australia??" Argh.... One guy even asked if I drove there from NZ Edited April 30, 2010 by Legoman Quote
Ras 74 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Great photos Cutlass Iz All I can say is 7 times in a row without getting out of that ride all wet. How is that even possible?? Every time I think "Maybe this time I will get away with not getting so much water on me", while all the rest is cheering and wondering HOW wet I will be this time Drove to USA from NZ?? You said yes I hope Oooh those Americans... Quote
General Redwater Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Oooh those Americans... We`re not as dumb as we look! - General Redwater Quote
Ras 74 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 We`re not as dumb as we look! - General Redwater I never said you wer dumb. Just ment there are some funny ones not knowing geography outside of the states in your country. But your comment sure made me laugh Quote
Erdbeereis Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 You are so right with the geography thing. Although not everyone here is like that, I have met so many people who have really no idea where anything is outside of the US. That's why I like to study a lot of Geography, in the right situation I can look very smart. There's a really fun game on Tripadvisor that's great for testing your Geo knowledge. I would highly recommend trying it out! LINK Thanks for sharing the great pictures guys! It's wonderful to see the fun, even if it's just on the computer. Quote
Superkalle Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) LDD version (you know me, he , he) of that famous Etzel duck: But, hey wait....that was not supposed to happen.....Houston, we have a serious problem here.... Edited May 1, 2010 by Superkalle Quote
Etzel Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I didn't know my ducks was practising cell division. Quote
Quarryman Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Quarry, Christian, Henning Too bad Henning didn't stick with the program there, if he did it would be an awesome picture I didn't know my ducks was practising cell division. Considering how many of them were showing up all over the place in Billund cell division sounds like a likely explanation Quote
Superkalle Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Special for Captain Green Hair: Check out this bike we saw on the way home from Billund. V8 engine The sound was....it was just....how shall I put it.....it was just plain marvelous! Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 AHHHH, you guys got to see a Boss Hoss. I got a friend in the next town over who has one of those, they are quite 'interesting.' Interesting because although they are loud and look impressive, they are obnoxiously huge. But... I would love to make it to Windsor for 2011, all depends on how the rest of 2010 goes. I'm trying to do one year at a time. For those of you stateside that are complaining about not being able to make an event, you do realize Brickworld is coming up? Copmike, Quarryman, I Scream Clone, Norro, Hinckley, DHCP1121 are just a few of the EB members who are going to be in attendance. I can't guarantee cool candy-spitting contests, but I'm sure everyone is going to have a good time. But it does look like everyone had a fantastic time in Billund this year and I really would like to participate in 2011. So Ras, get planning! Quote
Holodoc Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Finally - PART 1 Some examples right here, the rest is in my BS-folder. (I just uploaded smaller photos, if anyone needs larger ones, please let me know.) Getting the whole thing started (the results of the trading-post-thread with Aredhel and Bonaparte on the right side) First day - first surprise! We have gotten MINIFIGS! Hurray! (Superkalle to the far left, Capt. Green Hair, Quarryman, Copmike and Aredhel) Having fun in the park 4-D wise. (Front, Bony, Aredhel, Dennimator, Henning M., DNL, Quarryman, CGH, Izzy) How to play - and how to loose. All just for the bricks! This is the way how AFOL keep children from building. Raid for rare parts, everybody! I wonder how many of those bricks are still there. Powershopping © by Dennimator. (Roadwalker in the back, sotis96 to the left) Evening activity: building... (wait - is this set, what i believe it is?) ... and playing. This is STAR WARS Minotaurus by the way. Darth Vader jumping on one foot. Now for the working part of the event. EB-member and part-designer (this may actually not be the right description) Front showing us how to produce a new brick. Well done btw, Front! Thank you very much for detailed info on this. The ancestors of the final piece 87754. A first twice the size model... ... and how this fits in the mold-machine. (Sorry for the dull expression) Now the grandmaster himself: Jamie *yes, we had an appreciation week of that guy* Berard presenting pre-models of the Grand Emporium and a lot of insights in the problems and the fun of being a Lego designer: Startup. White windows? No way! Early types of escalators. Why not use red quarter domes and a Lego shop? More ideas. One proud designer (deservedly so) signing his own work. Thanks for so many beautiful sets, Jamie! And being a friendly and smart guy at the same time. After the presentations we went for the factory. Yes, the FACTORY! No photos inside the sanctuarium though. Wait, this guy took photos! You have all seen it, but I wanted to show this again. Pure awesomeness! We left our trails. Quote
Holodoc Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 PART 2 Now on to the museum: Wow, that's a Lego product! The first bricks... ... and the first town plan. (Dennimator, Izzy, Dfenz and his son (or was that Superkalle's?), Etzel, Ras, Copmike and DNL) left to right All SW-figs, gather here and here and here, please. Back to the park: There's always something new to see in the miniland: A stork. Look at the detailed walls! Wow! Ras and Izzy? No - but close. I love those details. Now Ras, where's the WRONG place on this boat? The big splash... ... and it's result. But here's the chance to strike back: The firefighting game! Last arrangements before the start. Oh - good start. At the pumps already. and back again! while the contestants are still doing this. Fair losers. (in this case Christian, Dennimator, Quarryman and Etzel - btw. Viking Team 2?) One day later I made a small movie of the second run of this contest. How do I upload this? The contests: a) build a vignette (max 10x10) with a typical scene of your own country. now guess wich one is from whom: Participating: Bonaparte - Belgium Capt. Green Hair - The Netherlands Christian - Denmark Cutlass Iz -Australia Dennimator - Sweden DNL - The Netherlands/Norway Front - Denmark Holodoc - Germany Jipay - France KimT - Denmark Morten - Denmark PrEtzel - Sweden Quarryman - Norway Roadwalker - Sweden Superkalle - Sweden The closeups: One extraordinary MOC: Absolutely ingenious! Now who has made this cOMPLEX tECHNICAL bionicle dESIGNER nERD pART? Btw. DNL won this competition! The last challenge - minigolf! Nothing really interesting to see here - move along! I don't know what Ras is doing here , but I certainly know how many attempts Copmike used on this hole. Some kind of danish-connection? (Morten, DoubleT and KimT) The grand finale. Is anybody interested in the results? No? Fine. The way back home: Small extra event south of Hamburg. (Bonaparte and Jipay) Back to the beginning: This time with the sets we bought. I'm finished. Ras 74 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I really would like to participate in 2011. So Ras, get planning! Your wish is my law Stash! Will start right away. By the way. Can I start tomorrow? It is getting late here now. Too bad Henning didn't stick with the program there, if he did it would be an awesome picture That was just my thought to Quarry. But never the less it is still a really cool picture of you two Thanks for adding some more pics Holo. Really funny and great ones. Quote

Captain Blackmoor Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 You have made me jealous all! Looks like you had a lot of fun together! Fantastic event! Me wants to go there next time! Quote
Dfenz Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) Next year Windsor! Good luck with next year's organising Ras. Some of the online reviews for Windsor Legoland are awful (see tripadvisor for example) with long queues seemingly the order of the day. At a park where rides for the over 10s are at a premium they've even taken out the jungle coaster to make way for another attraction ... accommodation!!!! If the park is half as lousy at it sounds then the other activities will need to make up for the lack of things to do. I've never been to Windsor so maybe the park isn't as bad as the reviews make out. I'll be in Legoland USA sometime next June so if you want to hold the event there ..... Edited May 3, 2010 by Dfenz Quote
alex54 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 So finally my pics. I don't post them all so here the link of my Flirck event album. Some pics : A little baby gorillaz : A big brick build version of the red car from set 6561: The LEGO concept is as old as humanity... The Danish just made the bricks smaller and in ABS: Jipay, the unluky man, who had one of the "non best" minifig, the black ninja. And Worst, he got it twice! It's great to see all those pics! The event was during the past week end but already so far... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 3, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 3, 2010 It's great to see all those pics! The event was during the past week end but already so far... Very true words. It already seems like such a long time ago. I really had a wonderful time, being away from all my daily routines and with LEGO as the main subject of the day. I wished I could rewind the time and do the event all over again. Quote
