noreha Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) WOW noreha , that looks even better than the real set, so clean and shiny, I look forward to seeing it with the Tan IV keep up the great work. Edit: Not to be pushy or anything (considering the amount of work in these things), but when the new Rep Frigate comes out could you build that and compare it with the Tan IV, and this? will see what I can do, once I see the instructions I will give it a go, any idea on a release date? Edit: Don't worry, I decided to take the 5 seconds and googled it... August... hopefully the lego website has the instructions around that time... Edited April 20, 2011 by noreha Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 The final render looks wonderful! Excellent work noreha! Will definitely look forward with the Tantive IV and the upcoming Republic Frigate comparisons (now that would be a lot work I would assume). Quote
noreha Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 Wow it look great noreha, I must have missed this topic before, but if this is any bit as good as your Tantive IV it will look great. Erm when you have done them both could you possibly do a comparison shot with them both? Edit:342 post. This is the only way I can get them together... for some reason the renderer I use doesn't like it when I put together about 2,000 pieces and push the render button, still trying to solve the reason behind the issue... dammit, hope this sates your appetite though Quote

There about the same size as well, I always thought the Tan IV set was bigger. Is it a memory problem preventing you from rendering them together? Quote

Yeah I have a feeling I will need to purchase some more RAM to get it to work... hopefully I will be able to get some in the couple of weeks, but in the meantime I think I will try and get another couple of sets done, maybe the Venator Class Republic Attack Cruiser (8039), Bounty Hunter Assault Ship (7930), Republic Attack Shuttle (8019), Millennium Falcon (4504) or even Imperial Star Destroyer (6211)... I will have to see what pieces I have in stock here are a couple more comparative images... Edited April 21, 2011 by noreha Quote
Mr Man Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Here are a couple more comparative images... *Snip* Nice I love the front shot, great work noreha. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Nice I love the front shot, great work noreha. Agreed, head-on shot is sweet.Excellent work, noreha; looking forward to whatever you do next. Quote
Mr. McDuck Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Amazing! Everything looks so realistic! I just don't like the shadows, but that is because of the moddeling proggrame. Am I right? Quote

Yeah the shadows of the last few images are dodgy because they are just draft renders, so no realistic lighting/reflection/radiosity, but I have decided to start on a new model this morning... so here are the progress shots of 8039 - Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser... will be trying to get this done over the weekend, but I might hit a couple of unknown pieces a bit later, so fingers crossed!!! UPDATE!!! got up to the inner frame, but there is some flex in the plastic that I need to factor in... spent about 2 hours last night trying to get the angles right, with no luck Edited April 22, 2011 by noreha Quote
noreha Posted April 23, 2011 Author Posted April 23, 2011 Finally have the front frame done... phew! more to come... Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Looking good! What file format does this program use? I'm wondering if we can access this kind of rendering with .ldr models. I know LeoCAD has a lot of export options. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Okay. I know LeoCAD can export in .3ds format that can be opened in Blender (and I know other rendering programs have produced great results from LDraw models) I was just wondering about this particular program. Quote
noreha Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 Still pushing through it all... almost finished book 1, and it is getting there, pretty stoked with it so far Quote
Mr Man Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Hu this set is so much smaller than I imagined yours look great though. Quote
noreha Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 Completed the model, after a few issues at the end I finally did it!!! Very happy with it, now which set do I do next? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I like. Makes this set actually look good. Which one to do next? I'd love to see 10030, if you can do that. Quote
Captain Bayonet Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I agree with BrickDoctor. That set looks like crap, but yours looks great! Keep the Brick Alive! ~Bayonet Quote
Mr Man Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 That is a nice piece of rendering noreha, I was going to suggest 6211 to go with this, but something nice and relaxing like 10188 ). Quote

Might have a go of the 6211, but like 8039 it will push the abilities of my PC (and brain), the 10030 and 10188 would be murder... why not ask me to do 10179? A couple more shots, am currently rendering a 10 second animation that shows the ship opening up... will be on my flickr thingy (hopefully tonight) Quote
Mr Man Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 How about 7121, that's small and will be a nice easy one (I presume it will be, I know nothing about rendering or how hard they are ). Quote

Looking forward to that animation, too. Quote
noreha Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 and here is the first test animation... a little flicker here and there, but still alright the animation Quote
