just2good Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) *SPOILER ALERT FOR TOY STORY 3!!!!* Last Tuesday, I ordered this set off of Toys'R'Us. It is my favorite Toy Story 3 set. It finally has arrived, a week later... Information: Set Number: 7596 "Minfigures": 5 ~ Woody, Lotso, Hamm, 2x LGMs Peices: 370 Release: (Scarcely) April 2010 ; (World Wide) May 2010 Price: $50, Around 40 Euro (?) _____________________ Now onto the review: Front of the box: Back of the box: Top of the box: Contents in the box: Bag of some of the minifigures: Bag 1: The minifigures: Back of the minifigures: Both aliens have a new face printing! Alein 1 close up: Alein 2 close up: Lotso: Lotso's arms can be taken off! Woody: Hamm: The back of the first instruction book: Stickers .... Bag one builds.... Bag two contains: Some new/rare peices! The build of bag two! A video demostrating the claw feature: Video Bag three contains: Build of bag three: Bag four contains: And builds: Bag five contains: And builds: And some inside pictures: The set all-together: Extra peices: And a video: Video Verdict: I love this set. It has nice minifigures and details, and it isn't very costly. I'd give it a 10/10, but that would be unfair... ___ Playability: 6/10. It could get boring after constant play. Details: 9/10. It has great details, like a phone, fire extinguisher, and even dirt printings on the minifigures! Peices: 7.5/10. It has some new peices, especially for the claw. Price: 8.5/10. It should be atleast $40, but it still has an awesome price at $50. Minifigures: 8/10. Two LGMs are great, especially since they have dirt on them. The other minifigures are awesome, too! Overall: 39/50 ___ My set of the photos:7596 Thanks for taking your time to read this review! Feel free to post questions/complaints and compliments! Edited April 28, 2010 by just2good Quote
prateek Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) Oh, wow! Nice review, although some of the pics could be better. I like this set, but Lotso is too <insert that tiresome argument>, which is okay if you think of the set as a kids toy Edited April 28, 2010 by prateek Quote
Spyder Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Thanks for the nice review. Although the price/parts ratio is terrible, the parts provided are nice and large, plus some in dark green, making this set a must buy for me. Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Something about Woody seems weird, but I don't know what. Quote
k_peek_2000 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 This must be a very dark part of the movie. Lotso looks all angry and woody looks sad, not to mention they are all covered in trash. The set looks great, a lot of really good pieces. I would only get this set for the minifigs and pieces and not really care for putting it together. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Thanks 'just2good' for this review - interesting set with interesting new parts too ! I'm not sure how well this one will sell in the shops - it's a little too dark - Woody and rest look like they are covered in soot, etc.,. I don't think I be buying this, I prefer the train and dump truck over this one. I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
BrickMan7 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I picked up min at the LEGO store last week. The train chase is definitely the best of this toy story 3 bunch. This set is nice but don't there is much playing to it for the kids, may get bored with it quickly. Here is our video review: http://www.brickshow.com/episode34-7596 Quote
RoryoCox Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Thanks for the review. This set looks good except I am a bit disappointed with furnace. This is one of the better Toy Story sets. Quote
Big Cam Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I had never even heard of this set until now. I want that pink Bear, bricklink away! Quote
Dunjohn Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 This had been my priority from the second wave back when we first saw it, but since then, my priorities have shifted (heck, they've pretty much inverted, I wasn't interested in the train at all innitially, now it's top of the pile). I'm just not that keen on the dirty minifigs. The rest of the set looks interesting and has some nice parts, though now that I've seen proper pictures, they're not quite as interesting as I'd thought. It's not a bad set, it's actually quite a good set, but some minor quibbles spoil it somewhat for me. Quote
gunm Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Nice! Yet again TRU lets a Disney licensed Lego slip through a little too early! Congrats on being among the few public consumers able to purchase the set ahead of release and thanks for sharing the review. Quote
sologuy369 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) I like this set, but Lotso is too <insert that tiresome argument>, which is okay if you think of the set as a kids toy But the preview for the movie showed that woody and the toys get dumped to a preschool daycare. Lotso is perfect for a preschool toy. Edited April 28, 2010 by sologuy369 Quote
Capt. Thomas Foolery Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I'd have to agree with the sentiment that this looks like one of the better sets, but probably not the best. Don't know if I care for the minifigs having faux-painting/scuffing on them, though getting five figs is pretty cool. Thanks for the review. Nice to see it so far in advance. Quote
squidman85 Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Good review.I very like the mew pieces and minifigures with paints from trash. Quote
just2good Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 Thanks everyone for your comments! I think Lotso's a great figure as he IS based off a preschool toy... Quote
Delta 38 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I'll get this set only if it's $60 or less, because it's not a must-have. The minifigs are great, though, and more aliens (dirty or not, as soon as I buy the pizza truck I'll still only have one) would be good. Quote
freakwave Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 The build of bag two! You have attached the crane arm upside down! Have a look at the box image in the background! fW Quote
just2good Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 You have attached the crane arm upside down! Have a look at the box image in the background!fW Yep, I noticed that 5 days later. Silly me. Quote
Derek Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I got this set this past weekend, and I must say, I was much more impressed than I thought I would be. It is really big (that's what she said), but doesn't have too many parts. The crane has to be my favorite part of the set, and the new claw pieces are awesome. It has a stronger grip than I thought it would. I think it's funny because of the aliens in the claw machine in the first movie. I highly recommend this set, for both parts and playability, not to mention the figures, which are an a superb level of detail. I am really impressed by Lego's printed parts in this line. Quote
sologuy369 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Nice review. I think I might pick this up at amazon for $40! And hey, shouldn't this be indexed? This the only one I could find on this site. Quote
