ImLost Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) After looking at Steven Asbury's amazing collection of fire vehicles, I've decided to make my own squad. My first apparatus is an American engine, inspired by Ralph S's seven-wide Rescue Pumper. The hardest part was making the borders for the locker doors. Using standard bricks made the borders too thick, so I had to get a little creative. My second apparatus is a quint (pumper and ladder combo). I have made several changes since my last version. Most notable improvement is that now the ladder can actually support itself without falling! With my leftover pieces, I made a command car. I'm not exactly happy with how it looks though. Comments/ criticisms welcome. Edited May 1, 2010 by ImLost Quote
Rick Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 These are great ImLost! There are some excellent techniques used on all of the vehicles. Looks like you could use some red 2 x 4 tiles instead of all the 1 x 2 red tiles on the rear of that pumper. I think the command car looks pretty good (minus the windy windscreen ). I especially like the half-stud offset you used for the mudguards. Quote
RoryoCox Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Very nice. I love the large truck. Both of your MOCs are very well proportioned and designed. Well Done Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 AWESOME ........JUST SMEGGING AWESOME ! 'ImLost' - well you are not really lost at all - these designs are some of best fire rescue vehicles I have ever seen ! Dam it you have laid down a challenge of sorts, I might do a Squad 51 pick up truck - fully pimped to the max - with Roy and John on board. Awesome work and I'm a conformist! 'ImLost' really I'm a conformist! ! Quote

Maybe if I make it protrude a little, it would look better. Yeah, the windscreen bothers me too, but unfortunately, PaB does not sell the piece I need to fill the gap. I'm considering bricklink though. Engines looks really nice.I like all the tiles! Very nice. I love the large truck. Both of your MOCs are very well proportioned and designed. Well Done Thanks! prateek Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) At a glance, these trucks look like they are way bigger than 6-8-wide. That says a lot on how detailed these things are! Great job Edited May 1, 2010 by prateek Quote
