Finally, no more need to travel to the States to visit a Lego store and that beautiful pick a brick wall!

Calgary Alberta is getting a Lego store in Chinook mall. I believe this will be the first Lego Brand store in Canada.

Here is the add for the store manager on Kijiji.

http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-jobs-sales-reta...QAdIdZ201912205

No date set for grand opening.

This is great news for all that live close to Calgary!

Cool! I wish there was a Lego store in Toronto. I'd be perfect for that job

It's amazing how they posted that on Kijiji instead of Monster or Workopolis

This is great news! I hope it opens soon, we should be there in July. Fingers crossed...

I'm surprised there isn't one coming to Toronto as well, though I can see the high rent in popular areas being a deterring factor. Hopefully we'll get one soon.

I assume it'll be open then. The mall has been having a large addition for the past two years, which is scheduled to open this fall. My guess is that it'll be part of that.

They did post on Monster about a week ago, as I mentioned in "Canadian Eh?"

Do we know for sure there isn't one coming to Toronto? Since all we've really found out is Calgary is getting one, I wouldn't be surprised if Toronto got one as well. Personally I'd really like one in Montreal as it's the closest city to me I could see realistically getting one since I'm in the Maritimes. Good news that Calgary's getting one though, means we should get more.

Well, no, but looking at the poster's other job listings (which includes a sales rep position), and searching for 'Lego' under Toronto's kijiji garner's no results. I'd assume that all the job listings would be posted from the same account.

Nice to see that the LEGO Stores are coming into a 4th country at last! (or 5th, if you count the one that was near Moscow but is now shut)

I bet one will open in Toronto at some point in the future, it's the same distance by car to the nearest LEGO Store as the Calgary Store is to its nearest neighbour (c. 700km) and it has a population of over 5 times that of Calgary's.

This is excellent news indeed it certainly has brightened my day. I just hope they have a good PaB wall at the store :cry_happy: .

i just hope

A) They actually HAVE a pick-a-brick wall,

B) The price for a large cup is under $25.

That's very true indeed. Without a Pick a Brick wall there wouldn't be a whole lot of an incentive to shop there verses TRU or something.

Is $25 dollars the price they pay per cup in the US? If it is then I'd expect them to bump up the price a bit to at least $30 which wouldn't be too bad, but if they go far beyond that I probably wouldn't buy very many :sceptic: .

We need a Lego store in Toronto so badly, hopefully this means we will be getting one soon hopefully.

This should be frontpaged.

It's about time for canada to get a lego store but i wouldn't get too exited hoping for more so soon . Lego will probably wait a while to see how this one does before they place more.

The location is pretty conveinient because my brother lives in calgary so i'll have another reason to go over there.

PaB wall: I would imagine they would charge between $15 and $20, considering they charge $15 for a large cup in the States (at least that was the price a year ago in Houston when I was there last). Anything more would be a bit unreasonable to me, but Calgary does have a very high median income etc etc, so they could probably get away with charging high prices.

I have yet to go to Chinook since I found out about the store, but the reno's they are doing there are scheduled to be done in the fall, but that could be the grand opening type thing, they may have a soft opening sometime in earlier. When I am there next I am going to find out.

I am considering putting in an application just to work maybe 1 or two days a week. Anyone know what kind of discount there is for employees?

It will definitely be nice, since Chinook mall is only 30 minutes down Deerfoot and Glenmore from my house....rather than a drive out to Seattle or even further.

Finally some good news for Calgarians, considering our Flames dumped in the bed down the stretch!

So is this an actual store from "The Lego Group", Or just a store that sells Lego products like the one in St. Jacobs Ontario?

I find it awfully weird that it would be advertising on kijiji......and if you go to lego.com's store page, it says nothing about an new store in Calgary, just new ones coming in the US.

If it was an "real" Lego store wouldn't they hire through their site?

I don't mean to break the mood, but something's fishy........

They also posted on Monster.ca as Winbrant pointed out in the Canadian Eh? thread.

It says Lego Brand in the heading, so I can only assume its legit.

That's very true indeed. Without a Pick a Brick wall there wouldn't be a whole lot of an incentive to shop there verses TRU or something.

But TRU jacks up some of the prices. Plus, you get a special feeling when you visit a Lego store :sweet:

I think in the US, it's around $15 for a large, and $7 for a small (someone will correct me if that's off). But LEGO doesn't use the exchange rate to price for Canada, as a quick visit to the two shop at home sites will show.

Well I have a TRU a lot closer to me than Chinook, and in the rare event that TRU does have a set marked up I can usually find it set at regular price at Wal-mart Zellers etc. Besides being in Canada we have very few sets that aren't marked with the "Canadian premium" by Lego themselves :sceptic: .

I really do hope that there will be a lego store in Calgary soon and that this isn't a hoax.

No worries; it's an actual LEGO store.

The store was just announced at LEGO.com. Apparently it's located at the Chinook Centre in Calgary and is opening this summer. I'm a bit disappointed that it's opening in Calgary as opposed to Toronto but it is nice to hear that Canada is finally getting a LEGO store.

Thanks for the update blueandwhite.

Congrats to Calgary on the first Canadian store....I'll have to check it out next time I am there.

I'm surprised that with population of around 1 million that it was first choice for TLG, as the Greater Toronto Area has a pop. of around 5.5 million.....

I'm sure there will be a store here soon enough, I mean that would be like not having a store in NYC
