michaelozzie Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Hello everybody. Its been a while since ive made any Napoleonic mocs but this new contest has got me revisiting my custom army. My entry will be a scene from the battle of Austerlitz. I will show you some of the different troops in little scenes like this as a lead up to the final moc, like here for instance theses are my latest Old guard. I have given them new torso decals on front and back that have a bit more accuracy than the old ones. Here are the Old Guard receiving orders while stationed along the channel coast, where they had been waiting for the invasion of England. Instead now they must march east to contend with the Russian and Austrian Empires declaration of war against them. Next up will be the Austrian and Russian infantry Quote
Captainkiwi Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 This is one of the battles I was hoping for and it looks like it will be done well. Your french guard look great and I can't wait to see the Austrians and russians. Good luck on finishing it. Quote
RoryoCox Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Looks great so far. The scene behind looks good. Well Done Quote
General Redwater Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Everything that you have done so far looks great. I can`t wait to see the Austrian and Russian infantry. - General Redwater Quote
xilefsson Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 (edited) All your hats are beautifully painted! Can't wait to see the Austrian army, little bit of patriotism Edited May 2, 2010 by xilefsson Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 2, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 2, 2010 I this so much! This must be the most realistic looking Napoleonic army every made into LEGO. One small remark, we only allow pictures with a maximum width of 800 pixels to be posted. Could you resize them? If you need help, you can find here tutorials. Quote

I'm liking the uniforms, only problem is, making the customs is probably going to take you longer than the contest allows! Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Nice Job! Your army looks amazing!! Can't wait to see the rest! Quote
the_green_avenger Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Detail, ahead of size, is the attribute ascribed to all my favorite MOCs Not only is it very highly detailed, the size of the army is also very significant... I can't wait to see the accual battle part! Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Off to an amazing start. The army looks magnificent. Quote
michaelozzie Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 Ok guys heres a look at the Russian and Austrian army marching to the Pratzen Heights These are some of the Russians Here are Austrian Grenadiers and Hungarian infantry with the blue trousers Quote
Alex the Great Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Thanks a lot! I was hoping to do well in this contest. But really, these are amazing, can't wait to see the finished product. Quote
the_green_avenger Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) if I had to come up with a definition of "over the top", this would be it. Fantabulicious MOC! Edit: in the second pic there's a hungarian standing in the creek... kinda funny... Edited May 4, 2010 by the_green_avenger Quote
Admiral William Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Amazing MOC! I just love those green uniforms... Quote
BrickPerfection Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 I LOVE your minifigs . The lanscaping could use some more attention though. It's quite significant how much less detailed it looks compared to those great soldiers. Can anybody explain, why michealozzi has no "customizer" tag? IMO he's the best customizer out there.... -Perfectionist Quote
Aalak Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Great Customs, I really love the way you customized the Shakos and Bearskings of the Old Guard. What Did You use for the feathers? I'm unable to identify it. What kind of printer did you use for the decals? If got a good Ink Jet, and still some of my darker decals didn't look as good as yours... The Russians look great as well. I'm not a fan of the Austrian Uniforms in white. but I really love your Troops, specially the hungarians infantry with the markings on the trousers. Great work. Can't wait till you post the actual battle... P.S. I loved your Sharpe on your MocPage, too Quote

The printer i have is a HP but what ive found is that using a glossy paper like photo paper to print on improves the colour and look. I also use a gloss spray to finnish the decal so the print will not smudge with use. Quote

michaelozzie Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Heres a look at the french army ready for the battle scene. In front are men of Saint Hillaire's division who spearheaded the assault on the Pratzen Heights. Behind are a few of the buildings ive been making to create the village of Pratzen which was central in the battlefield. Quote
BrickPerfection Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Sweet! Please, just make sure, you finish before May 31 and you can still improve a bit on lanscaping although it looks much better than before already. I like your MOC trees, however they are a little small... Anyways, I wish you much sucess completing this lovely battle scene and also some luck in the competition. -Perfectionist Quote
Aalak Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Wow, I really love the new pics. The Trees look great, Now I really wanna see it all :) Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Nice update! You have a very formidable army. Good luck in the contest. Quote

Captain Green Hair Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 This looks great Michael, do you think you can finish in time? Quote
michaelozzie Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Heres some latest pics. Just about finnished just adding last touches to the scenery. This shows Saint-hillaires division moving through Pratzen village and about to move onto the heights where waiting Austrian and Russian soldiers are suprised by this sudden appearance of French infantry advancing on their position. Here at the centre they were now thinly spread on Pratzen heights as the bulk of the army had moved south against the villages of Telnitz and Solkonitz or were engaged in a holding action to the north against Marshall Lannes corps.
