M'Kyuun Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) I've long been hoping TLG would move their City line into Space, so the SP3 guys would have something more to protect. I love TLG's little mail truck #7731, and started wondering how I could upgrade the set to tackle off-world terrains. Here's what I came up with in a couple nights: Edited May 5, 2010 by M'Kyuun Quote
RoryoCox Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Unfortunately your folder is not moderated yet. Maybe you can deeplink your pictures. I am sure your MOC is good. Quote

I'm not too savvy with altering pics. When I tried to attach, the pic was too big for the measly 100k I'm allotted. How do I go about deeplinking? Quote

There's a tutorial here. (Yeah, 100k is too small. We just don't have the room on the server to expand this to something more useful for 10,000 members.) Quote

RoryoCox Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I was right, this is very good. I like the "buggy" type look but it still is recognisable. Well Done Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 AWESOME LDD job here 'M'Kyuun' as the saying goes the mail must go through ! Excellent work and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
slacker int Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Very cool M'Kyuun! Your truck retains the feel of the original city vehicle and effectively manages to capture the look of a futuristic rugged rover. I especially love the modular unit on the rear for carrying the cargo... it looks like they could swap the configuration depending on what they are delivering. Quote
LuxorV Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Particoularly cool creation, M'Kyuun! Looks almost like Spartans turned into Postal service and converted their Warthogs On a specifical note, I really like the 'letter box' on the back and the way it can be pop-ed on and off the vehicle Possibly you can share the LDD model file? I'd love to see the buggy construction technique LuxorV Quote

I'd love to see the buggy construction technique LuxorV First, thanks for the kind words. I don't consider myself a particularly good builder, so I'm humbled. I was going to PM you, but there's no option for attaching a file. If you know another way, I'm open to suggestions, and I'd be happy to share the file. I think you'll be disappointed...not a very sophisticated design, IMO. I never know how anything I build will turn out...I get a general idea of what I want to make, and then trial-and-error the dogsnot out of it until it approximates what I think I had in mind. I'm no artist, so no conceptual designs either. I like how this looks, and I also got a Warthog vibe when I built the front...wasn't my intention at all...in fact it almost looked completely different, and I was thinking about using some of my earlier experiments to build another vehicle. I was also thinking about making a police, i.e., black and white, version of this with some tweaks. Anyway, about the file, let me know. Quote

On the building style/techniques, I feel the same way about the trial-and-error, and that's why I often use LDD for a preview of most of my MOCs (at least the smaller ones; dioramas would make me crazy ). The other thing I find difficult is to ballance the possibilities of LDD with my bricks aviability: you can't always make a good (in this case matching your idea) model with the Designed By Me palette, and so at times you can't order it! I'll be waiting to see your next versions (police sounds cool) and MOCs LuxorV Quote

I'll be waiting to see your next versions (police sounds cool) and MOCs LuxorV I absolutely concur about the palette, and also some of the connection limitations/glitches. It's a great program on the whole, but there are still some annoying quirks I wish they'd fix. I'm working on a transforming powerloader right now, to unload the box from the back. Again, designing something like this in LDD can be stressing, but I'd search for hours in my mess of a collection to get all the parts I need, so LDD is a mess free alternative. During the build, I played around with the colors (I actually hate yellow, and only stuck with it b/c of the original which inspired me), and I had a nice white/black scheme going. It only made sense to maybe try making a police version. Quote
