May 5, 201014 yr Wow, this set looks wonderful! I didn't get to examine it in detail at BBTB 2010, and there's a whole bunch of stuff I didn't know about before! I didn't know about the red 2 x 4 tile, the yellow 1 x 3 tiles, and the yellow 10-wide windscreen, all of which are cool parts! I wasn't expecting the trans-black windscreens to be printed too, so that's a bonus. To sum it all up, the minifigs, printed parts, new colors of parts and all those windscreens really make its price not as bad as it seems. Thanks for the review Oky Wan!
May 5, 201014 yr Haven't you seen Toy Story 2? If so, you seriously need to do so! There, all these toys, along with Slinky and Potatohead hijack the truck in order to save woody. I haven't seen TS3, so I don't know if there will be a similar scene, but I'm pretty sure there wont, and that this set is actually based on TS2. Ah, well that explains it. I haven't seen TS2 in years.
May 5, 201014 yr Thanks for the review 'Oky Wan' - nice play set you got there eh ? Pizza attack truck.......send that in with Rex and the Separtist's will start running or with it be Rex running away instead ! Rex and Ham look fantastic, COOL truck and PRINTED pieces - one way good - no DSS, another way bad - problems reusing those parts, unless EB runs a Toy Story contest ? (Andy's run, Al's Toy Barn or Pizza Planet pizza bar) I'm a conformist! everyone !
May 5, 201014 yr Thanks for the wonderful review Oky! I picked this set up myself today since I also love this truck. It's a very excellent set and has very nice details and printed parts. It was released along with the Toy Story 3 sets so i thought there might be a similar sequence. I do wish we would have at least gotten a Mr. Potatohead along with this set. Also I believe the "YO" is the remnants of "TOYOTA". EDIT: Also thanks because your review helped me catch an error in the tail gate area. Rather embarrassing that I did that. May 5, 201014 yr Excellent review. I was rather skeptical about this set but your review has convinced me to get this set, no matter what. Be it all the delicious pizzas or the beautiful looking printed parts, this set is worth getting. Thanks Oky and congratulations.
May 5, 201014 yr Great review Oky.Set is realistic, but anyway the minifigures in this set and trash truck are very big for sets.
May 5, 201014 yr Great review, OWK! Space: the final frontier. Infinite worlds to discover, and countless mouths to feed. Luckily, there is one planet that has the greasy goods to satisfy them all - Pizza Planet! These are the voyages of the Pizza Planet truck. Its mission: To deliver pizzas to the good people of Earth and to boldly go where no delivery truck has gone before! I believe I have heard that before... somewhere... There are quite a few notable pieces here. This set sees the return of the 10-wide windscreen in trans-black and yellow. Also, there is a X-Wing canopy in white, inverted 2x4 windscreens in yellow, a red 2x4 tile, yellow 1x3 tiles, and some other printed tiles. First I thought the 10-wide windscreens were different from the old ones, but checking BL I now know I was wrong. I mixed them with the 12-wide windscreen from the GE. I still don't get it, why every TS set comes with printed parts, BUT Buzz's Star Command Spaceship (7593) does not. Parting shot: The Demise of Captain Rex! Hilarious! Thank you.
May 5, 201014 yr I think this may be the nicest-looking Toy Story set I've seen so far. I like the truck a lot. I think it might be modified into a nice large System truck, or perhaps a Model Team kinda thing, with some extra pieces added.
May 5, 201014 yr Great Review and pictures. I believe the price may be a more than the average price for a set this size is at least partly because it has the printed pieces rather than stickers. So if we want printed pieces we better stop complaining. If we want stickers we better keep complaining. Edited May 5, 201014 yr by ktbflyfish
May 5, 201014 yr Great review Oky-Wan Kenobi! this set! Even if I don't like the figures, this is a must-buy! I think I'm going to set up a LEGO movie themed display, and this can represent Pixar! Can't wait to buy it!
May 5, 201014 yr Author I believe I have heard that before... somewhere... I knew you would pick up on that reference. Thanks for noting it! I still don't get it, why every TS set comes with printed parts, BUT Buzz's Star Command Spaceship (7593) does not. And the Trash Compactor. And why Construct-A-Buzz comes with half printed and half stickered parts. Hilarious! Thank you. You're welcome. I think I'm going to set up a LEGO movie themed display, and this can represent Pixar! Definitely! This is a perfect set to represent PIXAR! Although I can recommend you to get some of the other TS sets as well - they're quite underrated! OWK out! May 6, 201014 yr Hmm, nice. The pizzas are a nice bonus (I'm glad they decided to keep that amount of pizzas), as are the minifigs. I didn't expect Rex's tail to be connected that way, though. There may be some potential for the tail to be used elsewhere.
May 6, 201014 yr Nice review Oky, and highly amusing to boot. I look forward to this set arriving in Aus. Cheers.
May 7, 201014 yr What a wonderful set! The price is a bit steep. I might pick up when there is a sale. Thanks for great review.
May 7, 201014 yr Very nice review, Oky Wan Kenobi! This looks like a fun set, a nice collection of figs and a decent vehicle that wouldn't take much work to convert to a nice model truck, if you prefer. I like the set as it is though. Thanks again! ~Peace
May 7, 201014 yr Awesome review Oky! Very nice covering of everything you want to see in a review. Must also love your last pic. That is just the cream on the mashed potatoes. Love to see when different things can be brought into the world of Star Wars!
May 13, 201014 yr Awesome review Oky wan! Nice photos. Loved the embedded door stamps over stickers. We just finished our video review of this set: http://www.brickshow.com/episode37-7598
May 30, 201014 yr Great review! The thing that puts me off this and the whole new toy story line is the horrendous price, way way too expensive for the size and piece count. Not impressed
July 5, 201014 yr I bought this in the sales a week and a half ago for about 28% off... it's a fun set and an enjoyable build with some fantastic and unusual parts. I have to say, building these sets with printed parts is (for me) a lot more enjoyable than their stickered cousins in other themes. The shape is great - chunky and funky - and the size of the set is just great for swooshability. The colour problems which plagued yellow in 2009 seem to have gone and the overall aesthetic is wonderfully fun and inviting. The play features are great too and I love that the manual spells out exactly how to fit all the odd-sized figs inside Definitely a highlight of the TS line for me. Thanks again for the review, Oky!
November 29, 201014 yr Bump...does anyone know where I can get this in Canada? I know in the US it's a Target exclusive or something if I remember correctly but doesn't that usually translate to Zellers here in Canada (ie. the case with the 8403 Family Home I think). S@H also has this on sale but is currently out of stock too...The main reason I want this set is mostly for the Rex figure and a little bit the Ham minifigure. EDIT: Called around to a few Zellers and they don't seem to have it oddly enough... Edited November 29, 201014 yr by Canada_7
