astra Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Thanks for the info! I looked this morning and the status then was still 'available in July'. I've just placed my order, let's see how long it will take to arrive... Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 It's huge! Very impresive. This is what Lego is all about - models u just look at and go 'damn, that's incredible' good price too £80 for 1200, compare that to the new turbo tank... Only gripe (other than those damn stickers!) is the cockpit. U can fit 2 guys in there but it's messy... Quote

Brickus Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Mine has just shipped with free spaceman minifig. Quote
SSJ2 Dark Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Gonna call the Legoland in Minneapolis tomorrow and see if they've got this in. The larger pictures definitely have me more excited about it. Quote
astra Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 My SpaceShuttle arrived today! Now only if I can find the time to build it... Quote
astra Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Building the spaceshuttle is finished! I've also made some photos, although these are probably very recognizable. Someone asked a couple of pages ago what it would look like, placed on the back of the Lego Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and since that one is also in my possession, you can see for yourself how that look likes in my Brickshelf folder when it is made public. The pictures are a bit large (excuse me for the quality, iPhone was closer than Canon camera...) but here's a direct link to one of them: SpaceShuttle DreamLiner Quote

My Shuttle arrived today! It'll be my first System set in over 18 years since the 4558 Metroliner. I can't wait to build it. I'm more of a Technic kinda guy but this set was just too amazing to pass on. Quote
SSJ2 Dark Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Yep, Legoland had this in stock. Looks like I've got a project for tomorrow morning! Quote
Justin Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 What a cool set! I might order this set later this year. Quote

Cool. Looks good on the plane. I have the 787 Dreamliner unopened. Hmm, not sure now if I should MOC the transport crawler with Mobile Launch Platform or the 787 into a 747. Quote

Hmm, not sure now if I should MOC the transport crawler with Mobile Launch Platform or the 787 into a 747. I'd love to see a 747 to go with this space shuttle, and/or the transport crawler. I grew up with the Launch Command theme, and to me those things seem to go hand-in-hand with a space shuttle. Best of luck whichever option you pursue! Quote
BrickMonkeyMOCs Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) I just bought this yesterday. First day of its release (here in Japan) and I got the last one in the store. It's a very clever build, utilizing every cubic millimeter of space inside the shuttle to fit the two figs, retractable landing gear, robotic arm, and satellite. There aren't too many stickers, and they are of the higher quality longer-lasting type (i.e. trans rather than opaque). And the functional flaps on the wings were a cool surprise. This is a really great set, and very reasonably priced. Edited July 4, 2010 by SpaceMonkey Quote
kevblee Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 This set says HARD TO FIND in the catalog. Does anyone know which retail place will have these ...Toys R Us by any chance? Quote
Dr.Butcher Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Do the two astronauts fit well into the cockpit? In this review (the video is worth watching btw) the reviewer say they don't, you see it also in the eighth picture: But on this picture again they sit without a problem in the cockpit. Quote
ILikePi Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 In this review (the video is worth watching btw) the reviewer say they don't, you see it also in the eighth picture: But on this picture again they sit without a problem in the cockpit. I think that's because the QWERTY keyboard is placed in the middle in the Brick Show's review/pictures, while in TLG's picture, it's shifted to the right. TLG's placement allows one of the minifigs to be placed forward 1 more stud, so that might allow the minifigs to fit snugly. (Additionally, the Brick Show is known to mess up on brick placement very often) Also, instructions for Shuttle Adventure can be found here (right click the links and download the file): Part 1 Part 2 Quote
Brickus Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) How big is the box ? Same size as the new Clone Turbo Tank. (Additionally, the Brick Show is known to mess up on brick placement very often) A prime example is the nose cone on theirs. This is a really great set I love it and I really enjoyed building it. It's been a long time sine I've had a Space set I think my last was in 1995 with set 6339 Shuttle Launch Pad Edited July 22, 2010 by Brickus Quote
Apollo VI Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I love this set! I ordered it through S@H and received it a few weeks ago. I got the free spaceman magnet with it of course, which is really cool as well. The shuttle is likely the most accurate official Lego shuttle that we've ever seen (I don't own the Discovery shuttle, but that looks to be the only one that's even close). This shuttle also includes the External Tank and Solid Rocket Boosters, which is really great as they are often overlooked. I was initially against the blocky look of the tail fin and the nose, but after I built it I realized it perfectly captured the tiled surface of the space shuttle I wouldn't have it any other way. The only real gripe I have with the design is that the rear "wheel wells" leave holes in the wings when the landing gear is down and make the wheels visible from the top of the shuttle when the landing gear is retracted. It should be fairly easy to cover this hole through modding, though. I grew up with Space Port (I own every set, even the promotional ones) and it was a total trip to build this set. It was my first brand-new non-licensed Lego set in about 8 or 9 years, which shows how I HAD to have this set. I also agree with the other posters, it fits in perfectly with themes such as Launch Command and Space Port. I can't wait to take out my old Space Port sets and see my whole collection laid out Overall, this set gets a 9.5/10 from me, and it's highly recommended! Quote
Adam the Ant Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I received this set just under a week ago, but I'm still in the process of sorting my Lego collection, so at the moment I haven't been able to build it It did flick through the instruction book and does look a fun build and great looking model from the pictures I've seen.
