DutchTreat Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Hi all, This is my first MOC posted and also my first attempt at building a pirate ship. The build started with the brickbeard bounty, but after I discovered bricklink (just had to make a dark tan deck) and the ship started to grow an shine! It's mainly meant to play with for my 2 sons (3 and 5 years). They love to play with it, however in the meantime i discovered that a (pirate)ship probably isn't the strongest structure for kids to play with :) The biggest struggle i have is the masts and sails. So any tips are welcome (although the ship does not have to be as real as possible). Any tips, criticism welcome. Big Cam Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 This looks very promising, I can't wait for more. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Looks great so far. I'll definately check back to see it progress. Quote
RoryoCox Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 The ship is looking good so far. I will look forward to seeing it finished. I also, like the colours. Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Nice job so far. The deck and gun placement look great, can't wait to see the finished product Quote
the_green_avenger Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Not much to say, other than it's looking good so far... keep it up! Quote
Rick Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Nice, looking forward to more updates. I like that you've kept the BB color scheme, way better that the IFS' color scheme is you ask me. The dark-tan deck looks great. Quote
Admiral William Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Very nice, you can tell it came from the BB - but then again, it's different. I like it so far, keep on building! Quote
BrickPerfection Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Hey DutchTreat, to me it looks like you are sticking very much to the Imperial Flagship in your design. However you should notice that the IFS isn't realistic at all; IMO it looks like a house with sails since its so bulky. Just in case you are willing to build more realistically: -move the mizzen mast (the third one) about 4 studs and the main mast 6 studs towards the stern -place both hatches betwenn the main mast and the foremast -i would also try to lower both the stern and bow if you can, you could take advantage of the new hull pieces by removing the upper part: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/wesvdell...rian/lstern.jpg Now doesn't that look sleek? -maybe increase the gun count to 6 per side by placing them just 4 studs apart? -MOC cannons on the upper deck also are nice touch: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RickB/Bu...ate/step9-h.jpg Just my 2 cents, what you have build so far doesn't look bad at all. But you can always improve -Perfectionist Quote
DutchTreat Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Thank you all for your comments, especially Perfectionist. Your ships look fantastic! Don't think i want it to be as realistic as possible, but It's always good to play around with it. I'm pretty confused with mast placement so i'm gonne try moving it as mentioned. the MOC cannons look great btw! Quote
Andre1983nl Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 The crew of the IFS wil proberly sweat when they see this ship (When it is ready to set sail) Quote
