And some wonderful information too, will post my ecstatic thoughts soon:

"Thugs have much more variety in appearance.

There are armored thugs.

Bats can counter 2 thugs at once.

There were hints in their demo about joker's health but they couldn't tell what was wrong. Rocksteady won't confirm that it's venom overdose.

New quick and brutal attack called the beat down. Batman unleashes a rapid flurry of painful punches that'll knock out most any enemy whether he's wearing protection or not.

HARLEY has a new COSTUME. she is wearing red and black pants and a matching midriff-baring top. Her face paint is much more subtle and she has a joker tattoo on one of her hips peeking out over her waistband.

NEW GADGET the broadcast analyzer, he uses it to track the location of the joker's transmissions. You can use it to scan around different broadcasts. That's the GCPD dispatch. I can also tune into Gotham FM. There are lots of secrets here for players to find. Lots of mystery broadcasts that will lead you to different areas if you search around:

Like Gears of War active reload, players can now hit the attack button again at just the right time to bring down enemies faster.

Rocksteady says "What we wanted to do in building arkham city was to create a place with the same attention to detail that we built with arkham island - to create something where there's a story around every corner. It's not a big, empty, expansive world. We wanted something with a real richness to it. WE'RE TRYING TO CREATE THE MOST DETAILED AND RICH CITY THAT HAS EVER BEEN REALIZED IN A VIDEO GAME."

---------------------------------------------------

- Sharp took credit for getting the Joker situation under control

- Sharp used that incident to help win the election

- He then declares Blackgate and Arkham unfit

- Sharp buys off a portion of the slums of Gotham

- He walls off the area, calls it Arkham City

- Sharp contracts a mercenary group named Tyger into defending the walls

- Prisoners given one rule: “Don’t try to escape”

- Penalty is death

- Prisoners free to do anything besides that within

- People who look into Hugo Strange disappear

- A year has taken place

- Two-Face is admitted into Arkham City

- Two-Face realizes he needs to make a move to assert himself in the prison so that he won’t be eaten alive

- He captures Catwoman, thinking that a public execution would help out his situation

- Devs. want a highly detailed city

- Can use gadgets while fighting

- Example of this: Putting explosive gel on the back of an enemy

- A lot of the super villains have formed gangs, have control of different areas in the city

- Devs hoping to use more of the “forensics” angle from the first title, incorporate puzzles in them that will get more complex as you progress

- Most of the key gadgets unlocked late in the original are immediately available, but it seems it hasn’t been confirmed that all of them will

- Explosive gel, line launcher confirmed to be available by default

- Interrogations instead of Riddler maps now

- Press a button and Batman will taunt enemies

- Optional sidestories for some characters, including Zsasz

- New costume for Harley

- Broadcast analyzer: Mainly used so that Batman can listen to a message from the Joker

- There are several broadcasts Bats can listen to, including the GCPD dispatch and Gotham FM

- Orcacle is missing

- Because of this, Alfred is the one in Bruce’s ear

- Rocksteady not talking about multiplayer plans yet

Awesome! Thanks for all the news

I was wondering why it was called 'Arkham City', glad they finally explained that.

Two-Face and Catwoman look great. Can't wait to see how their personalities are in the game.

Wasn't Alfred already talking in Batman's ear in Arkham Asylum, as well?

Or is the 'Oracle is missing' an actual in-game plot or something?

Sorry.

But all this news is brilliant! I wonder who else we'll see.

I'd like them to keep Bane, Croc and Scarecrow for a third game, seeing as they were all alternate ending characters in Arkham Asylum. So to make up for Scarecrow not being there, I'd like The Mad Hatter (though maybe it could be Joker's gas?) to fill the void there.

How come one of the biggest Batman fans here, me, learns about the new updates on the game only now?! :hmpf::laugh:

Ok, here are just some of my thoughts:

1) Plot

I suppose the plot is pretty interesting and it was really an unusual turn for me with Sharp becoming a mayor and creating a special zone within the city for criminals. Kind of a reservation. That does not seem to be a bit realistic, of course, but I like the idea still. I just hope that they will do what they claim: make it a totally new game, with a new atmosphere, not just update the first one.

2) Goons

batman-arkham-city-20100901084854849_640w.jpg

Why are all the henchmen so buffed up? I mean, it seems that there are no normal-sized goons in Gotham. Oh well, I don't complain, sometimes you really need muscles to drive someone out of Iceberg Lounge! And I really like the variety of faces. Some of those clown-faced goons sure look creepy!

Just look at him!

batman-arkham-city-20100901084900817_640w.jpg

I almost feel sorry for the poor guy. )

3) Harley Quinn

batman-arkham-city-20100901084903567_640w.jpg

Ugh! Why can'they just go classic? I really don't like the new take on her. The ponytails are good and the color scheme is well also, but for the sake of sexiness, so to say, they totally ruined the overall desigh for me. Just my IMHO, of course. Don't think I have much else to say.

4) Catwoman

batman-arkham-city-20100901084913208_640w.jpg

Hey, that's not fair! The Penguin should be there instead of Bats!

 Anyway, I'm always glad to see her around in every outfit, but here she's just gorgeous. I really Like those comic books googles she has and the overall sleek and really cat-like appearance. ) I'd really love to see her giving the ghastly Quinn a few good kicks! Pur-r-r-rfect! )

5) Harvey Dent

batman-arkham-city-20100901084917864_640w.jpg

Well, I have a mixed feeling about him. I definitely don't like his scarred part, mostly because it's not even scarred but seems to have benn burned or blown away. He reminds me of TDK Harvey in that matter. And I didn't like him much there.

However, overall I'm pretty sure that he'll be good in the game, or some reason. And of course it's nice to see him in his white suit again.

6) What we still need.

batman-arkham-asylum-20100810103856154_640w.jpg

I just hope that we'll be seeing some other villains of the game soon. And I, of course, expect Penguin to be anmong them, fightning for territories with his gang, or just selling ammo and information. In fact the second variant is prefferable for me. However, I really hope that they don't take another "unclassical" approach and make him some monster-like creature. :hmpf_bad:

Yeah, Harley is kinda too slutty, even though it suits the gritty style. :sceptic: But Catwoman is definitely the best bit here - she looks like a combination of Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie in a Sky Captain-espue outfit! So, does this mean you'll make a minifig of her? Yay! :sweet:

And yeah, let's hope we wont see some kind of mutant penguin-man.

I disagree. This is simply another persons take on Harvey. It would be boring if the all looked like B:TA series counterparts. Also, I think B:AA's Scarecrow was the best I've ever seen.

Well, tastes differ. ) That is exactly why I wrote that it's my IMHO, my dear friend. )

Thanks for the information, professor flitwick! )

Still no Penguin to be seen..... I just can't believe that they put so many hints in the trailer and won't show the villains! The plot seems to be pretty intriguing indeed and it's good to see so many improvements, however! Still, I hope they'll include me in the game! :cry_sad:

A very detailed step-by-step review of the well-known trailer. )

Some of the ideas seem to be pretty realistic, some are puzzling, like the issue with the shodow. Still, it's worth reading. And don't forget to read the comments as well! )

Some news from here:

In thе latest issue οf thе UK’s PSM3 magazine, Batman: Arkham City director Sefton Hill outlined аn upgrade tο Batman’s “Detective Mode” designed tο hеlр hіm extract information. Batman wіll now bе аblе tο scan a criminal database tο find lіkеlу informants аmοng henchmen, аnd thеn interrogate thеm tο gеt whаt hе needs — lіkе extra Riddler clues.

“Thе Riddler continues tο taunt thе Dаrk Knight wіth mind-bending puzzles аnd exploration challenges,” Hill ѕаіd, “bυt thе location οf hіѕ bіggеѕt secrets аrе known οnlу tο hіm аnd people hе′s tοld. Rаthеr thаn unlocking thеіr locations using maps, Batman wіll bе аblе tο scan a gang οf thugs tο find a potential informant.”

Wе′re excited аbουt thе nеw gameplay mechanic — аѕ well аѕ thе challenge, dеѕсrіbеd bу Hill, οf mаkіng sure nοt tο knock out thе one guy іn a crowd уου need tο talk tο. Bυt mostly wе′re hарру fοr thе Riddler. Hе′s well οn hіѕ way tο figuring out thе secret tο successful crime: nοt immediately giving thе world’s greatest detective аnу clues аbουt hοw tο find уουr stash.

Sounds intriguing, doesn't it? )

Loved the first game, really looking forward to the sequel. I hope, hope, HOPE, that this game will give enough cause for those at Lego to release some new sets. I've been out of the Lego game for a while now and unfortunately missed the whole Lego Batman license.

I love Hugo Strange so much, a vastly underrated villain. I really hope he's the main villain of the game. Loving the trailer, and is that really Christopher Lee? Because if so, stroke of genius there.

I'd say he is; it's been shown that he is in charge of Arkham City (whilst Sharpe is Mayor). He's also been confirmed to be doing things like kidnapping journalists too close to the 'truth', and throwing them inside, so my guess is yes.
