Ok, now I need some fresh air..... Give me a minute.....

So, we've got it at last: an official Penguin confirmation and an image. Oka-a-a-a-ay..... So let me just state my feelings and emotions this way:

What I dislike:

1) The Penguin is almost bald. Well, nothing unusual about this version, but I'd rather he was balding rather than so egg-shaped. He just reminds me of De Vito version this way, who was good for Returns, but wouldn't have really worked here. I just hope that he'll be covering it with a top hat.

2) The monocle is in the wrong eye. Monocles are usually worn in the right eye-socket. And as a gentleman of class penguin would've never made such a mistake. We can hope that it's just an inverted image though.

3) I guess he could've been made a bit younger. Not as young as THE BATMAN one, perhaps, but not as old as here.

4) I think his teeth sure need some brushing. A man of class wouldn't allow to have such teeth. Well, he can afford to have a proper cosmetic precedure!

5) He has no cigarette holder, which I find to be a minir flaw, but still. Since I use one he should as well.

6) "Brute with a bad taste"? Well, that's something that bothers me greatly. I mean, it's a bit vague what they mean here. I wouldn't really like to see him throwing his thugs around, shouting and beating them. That's not just him. He's a gentleman of crime, dammit!

What I like:

1) I really like that he has a monocle. Though it looks a bit big fopr his type of face, but it's ok, generally.

2) Penguin is not obese. I really like that. He sure has some weight problems, but he's not iceberg-like size and I sure hope that he can move with some paste, should he have any need!

3) I like the shape of his nose. no beak-like nose, a perfectly standard straight one.

4) I like what he's wearing. What looks like a fur-longcoat, which I find to be really fitting, but a bit out of taste, true.

5) I really like that they made him a keen collector. Since i share the same passion, I suppose it's a very true and a realistic-to-the-character thing. Still I guess that the game character is colleting arms and weapons, rather than antiques like me!

About the one-armed goon.

I take it that he's a brother or some other affiliate of the Joker's one. Here it's an odd hint that they are Russians, since one has a hammer and sickle tattoo and the other a red star one. If we look at the weapon we can see that the clown has a hammer and this one has a weird-looking giant sickle.

Their scars also may indicate that either they lost their arms or that they were thouse unfortunate twins who were born joint, so to say. Not sure of the term. But you get the idea.

And back to Penguin again. I hope that he has a proper voice, that may still save a character for me.

Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) :classic:

Some slight spoilers for you all...

Transport

- Patrolling Arkham City helicopter is compared to Read Dead Redemption's train. "Bats can grapple on for a free lift".

Gang/Faction Wars

- Arkham City's gang wars aren't "dynamic like an RTS".

- Compares them to Ivy's influence on the environment in Arkham Asylum. As a faction takes control in the story, it changes the nature of the district.

- "Gang wars aren't a game system, it's a narrative system."

The Riddler

- Batman interrogated a Riddler thug, this revealed 3 riddler trophies on the map. "One's easy, one's cerebral and one's hard"

- First trophy involves glide kicking through a wooden fence.

- The second trophy gets you standing on a pressure plate to open up a mantrap holding the trophy tight before snagging it with a batclaw.

- Riddler then communicates with you via a projection. He then reveals the location of a hostage.

- "The chamber of horrors itself is straight out The Pit and the Pendulum, all gigantic rotating blades and electrified floor panels."

The Penguin

- Penguin has no bird like mannerisms.

- First mission involving Penguin has you rescuing Police officers from his "museum".

- Penguin has a cockney accent.

- Penguin lines include: "You ere' for the cops, Batman... or me?" - "If someone wants it, I like to think I got it.. and if I don't have it, I'll get it."

- Penguin then orders his thugs to take out Batman.

- Thugs throw things at Batman only for him to catch them and throw them back.

Crime Alley/Park Row

- Going to the backstreet behind the Monarch Theatre triggers a Two-Face dialogue (we believe they meant Hugo Strange). "How does it feel Wayne, to stand on the very stones that ran with your parents' blood? Are you sad? Full of rage? Or does that outfit help bury your feelings? Hiding your true self, you are truly extraordinary specimen - I look forward to breaking you."

- Flowers lay in the backstreet, click on them makes Batman kneel to pay silent tribute to his parents. Music plays in the background.

Abramovici Twins

- Joker's one armed thug and Penguin's one armed thug were once conjoined twins. They're called the "Abramovici Twins".

Why would they have a name of russian oligarch?! :hmpf:

At least your goons pack a punch with their weapons.

“Penguin’s faction is much more about the collection that he has within his museum of all sorts of things, but one of those things he collects is heavily artillery,” Ginn said. “So when you come up against his thugs in the street they are all going to have seriously heavy weapons and that develops throughout the game as well.”

What's up with monocles in computer games?! I have never seen a properly applied one! :hmpf:

What the heck did I just read?! :oh:

How could they?! That's, that's just..... How?! ok, I could put up with a cockney accent. I could bear lack of bird-relations, but THAT?!

Why, WHY is de Vito's curse still haunting the character?!

My consolation may be that he'll be extremely awesome in the game with some nice and unexpected plot. By far i tried to stay calm, but that's really getting on me!

Some more interesting news on the game.

A vent?! :hmpf:

And i just hate it when some people say that Penguin looks more realistic that way.

How come a man with a bottom of a bottle in his eye and a smoking vent is more realistic than a refined gentleman with a cigarette holder and a monocle?! :hmpf_bad:

A vent? This is getting stranger and stranger...I really loathe what they are doing to him, a bottle in the eye is already one of the most unpenguinlike things you could think of, but a vent on his neck is grotesque. :hmpf_bad:

This almost sound like some awful software designer joke, but I'm afraid that's more than impropable.

Miss Selina Kyle! How could you?! You give a kiss to the thug, and never cared to give me one! :sing:

Seriously speaking, I really liked the trailer. Thanks Flitwick! Several quick thoughts:

1) I don't think I like the voice. Too generic.

2) Does it indicate that we may have an opportunity to play as Catwoman?! :oh:

3) Dent looks better in my view now.

4) What a knee should you have to break a bat?! (Double pun intended  )

5) Hm, it seems we may get some near stealth missions, after all!

6) I wanted to see Penguin! :hmpf:

Hm, I still don't like Dent's outer look. I don't care that much about Catwoman's voice, but I'm really astounded we could play as her. I never considered her to have a that important role, but I really don't dislike what they make out of her. Though I wouldn't have thought she was that skilled at combat, as she's meant to be a sneaky cat burglar. :sceptic:

4) What a knee should you have to break a bat?! (Double pun intended  )

My thoughts exactly, save for the funny punch line.

I actually kinda like him like that. Okay the vent is maybe a bit over the top but on the other hand, it's completely normal for a guy around 30 to run in a city packed with goons that have mental issues in a suit hittin the megablocks out of them, not?

And I like the piece of the bottle in him, it has something... :sweet:

Well, what puzzles me about Dent is the fact that he's so much burnt, almost Nolin-like, which indicates that it was more than acid in the face, actually. Well, for some reason I'm not that fascinated by the character anymore. I guess he's been overused a bit and sure requires a new view on the character.

As for catwoman, she looks quite nice. I wonder if it's very convenietn to have a zipline so low?

Well, now I want an opportunity to play Penguin! Shooting some bottles with a rocket-launcher umbrella!

Interested? I'm certainly suprised, though not sure what to make of it...

Is it bad if I'm turned on by that video?

I think playing as catwoman will be like playing as the joker in arkham city, not a lot, but enough to keep you entertained. They might just be the challenges we've heard about. I think she was incorporated well into the game.

Penguin is okay so far, but the vent is just stupid, those things gross me out.

I'd recommend you, people to have a look at arkhamcity.co.uk discussion thread which if quite interesting. Especially the discussion of Catwoman's behavior!

Yes, I'm quite aware of that, thank you.

The image was supposed to show how popular I am among some women..... and how I look at some men! :hmpf_bad::laugh:

Though, I wonder what comic it is from? I can't really recall now.....

Is it bad if I'm turned on by that video?

Yes, it is!

Why would any decent man wish to have a company of a woman who kisses every second thug on the street?

Actually it has been revealed that Selina Kyle will be a part of a story mode (about 10%)? so will just switch to her from Bats and back. I find it very intriguing!

Ever wanted to feel more immersed in the Arkham-verse? Well, until virtual reality comes out, controling a Batarang is the best we have for now...

And thanks to Geoff Keighly's recent Tweet, we know when we will get a live demo:

Super excited that we’ll have the first live demo of Batman: Arkham City on Spike LIVE this Monday after Xbox. And more to announce soon!
@V_Ben Yep all live on GT.com

A recent IGN article has yielded the amount of Riddler trophies well have to hunt:

The Dark Knight would survey a room, plan a strategy and execute it flawlessly. And I want to feel like I'm Batman when I'm playing his game -- even if it means putting up with the @#*! Riddler and his more than 400 trophies I need to find in Arkham City.

And... Batman appears to not like his fan-base... (note the Bat-mask)
