Can some one HELP me?

I am wanting to upload some of my lego ceations but I am trying to get rid of the backgroung and make it white. I have gimp right now but I cant get it to work. Can some one help me

I've used GIMP a bit. I did this...

...with it, and for the most part I was happy with the results. I have heard that it's easier to do fast background removals with Photoshop, but in my experience there is no fast or easy way to do a good job.

I used this tutorial when learning how to do it. I found the best technique was to create an inverted image, use that as a matte, and then soften the edges.
