BobaFett2 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I have trouble making vehicles for my super-small (sadly, I have only a few town sets. Most are starships or Adventurers) Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Well you don't need too many town sets, a service station, fire and police oh yeah post office, etc,. now for vehicles check either any of my vehicle posts or 'dr_spock', 'AllanSmith', 'ImLost', among others for their vehicles, see what you can come up with yourself too. Now if you have a lot of 'spaceships or adventurers' then you could always`do a theme park, eh ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 While I was working on this curve road plate I thought lets throw a funny picture at all of you....... Simply titled 'I WANT MY MUMMY !' I'll leave the boring details till later, this one picture was just for FUN ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
greg3 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Very nice!! I love your buildings (their size and open backs give them a real classic town feel) The street's looking good too (although if I'm honest I can't decide if I'm a fan of tiles everywhere or not... I think studs are part of the charm of Lego but then I see cool work like this and I'm not so sure) Anyway looking forward to seeing more!! Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Thanks for the replies 'greg3' and 'BobaFett2' - I'll be back tiling and triming that road plate tomorrow, but I still don't know should I keep the sporting goods store or go a grocer/small supermarket in it's place ? lightningtiger Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Sorry, I always do - some members bold highlight names - I just '' instead. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
BobaFett2 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Ah I see! I'm making a city but right now it's puny as a third of my sets are BIONICLE. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Well may I suggest making a theme park around said BIONICLE for minifig families to visit eh ? I'm a conformist! 'BobaFett2' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 Well the tiger's back in town, my neck is getting better so time for some updating ! The town centre is slowly comming together now, so here is the latest....... Yep, I'm at another park - a dog park actually (I have my border collie running around) ! A reverse angle shot and a bit lower/closer too ! Now this was a little tricky, footpaths on a curve plate.....but I think I nailed it ! Comments always welcome and I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
prateek Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Now this was a little tricky, footpaths on a curve plate.....but I think I nailed it ! You sure did, but it's a shame that Lego doesn't make tile versions of these angled plates Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 Thanks for the comment 'prateek' - nice to hear from you again ! I'll be working on another street section today I hope, posting a.s.a.p. ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 G'day everyone, just a quick one today........ This is how the service station locks into the intersection, plus the footpaths too......yeah the police officer is looking into the disappearance of one tree ! Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 Since the floor is finished in the grocery store........ Things are starting to fit nicely. Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
sebby Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 This is really stating to take shape. I'm loving the BP service station Do you have plans to add buildings to the other side of the street or are you going to leave it open for playability ??? Quote
prateek Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 The interior of the grocer is looking nice and bright! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 (edited) Thanks 'sebby' and 'prateek' for your kind comments , yes.....there will be more buildings. The pub will be revisited with a full redesign, also as inspired by the TRU truck/shop set - there will a Toyworld built roughly around the same idea as 7848. Plus the tyre dealer, tractor dealer and fire station will also be revisited and updated with flooring, etc.,. More shops may also be planned, but we'll see how the new toy shop goes first. Open backed or with access points these MOC's all have. I'm a conformist! ! Edited June 28, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Now I know why the IGA store was only going to be originally 8 studs base plate, well a redesign of the street layout - the post office is now inbetween the menswear and hardware stores. Comments always welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Now I your help indeciding what to build next....... 1. Do I make a small or large toy shop (Toyworld) ? 2. Do I make a single and double storey pub (early 1920/30 style) ? 3. Do I make a new and bigger tyre place to handle trucks as well as cars ? 4. Do I make a motorcycle/lawnmower shop ? 5. Or do I make a whole new tractor place that covers bikes to tyres to tractors etc., ? Thanks......I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) I decided to take some more photos after a rethink of the town centre layout...... Comments welcome as always ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Edited July 16, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
TheWarden Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I decided to take some more photos after a rethink of the town centre layout...... ... Comments welcome as always ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Oooo, fun! First time I think I've seen the whole layout. What to build next you say? If you want to enlarge, maybe: - IGA becomes food oriented and gets bigger. Then you can do "A' below. - Something becomes two floors. Gives a bit of visual height interest to the town. If you want new types of buildings, maybe: - bar - small "hole in the wall" restaurant - pharmacy (or druggist) gotta get your meds somewhere - small town hall with an office and receptionist - 'A' - General store, you know, toiletries and catch-all - small town park. Benches for people to eat lunch, walk their dog (as you did), maybe a town statue or memorial That's all that crosses my mind for now. It's been fun watching your town evolve. As you say... "I'm a conformist!!" Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 Thanks 'The Warren' for your kind comments. I am planning an old style hotel/pub, a disused bank building in art deco styling made in to a hair salon. Also a pizza bar and most likely a chemist, both of which will be only on 8x16 base plates. The other two on much larger ones, especially the pub ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
