Pooh Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 All right people, unlike the information what we used to have, it is proven that there actually is a rare hidden figure in set 8683. Till now, there were only 16 known figures, including 1. Cavemen 2. Cheerleaders 3. Circus Clowns 4. Cowboys 5. Deep Sea Divers 6. Demolition Dummies 7. Forestmen 8. Magicians 9. Ninja 10. Nurses 11. Robots 12. Skaters 13. Spacemen 14. Super Wrestler 15. Tribal Hunters 16. Zombies But from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sb-Yso2-sWQ...player_embedded it can be suggested that there actually is a 17th figure, which somewhat looks like a chrome storm trooper. This information would not matter if what you are interested is only to get the full set made out of 16 figures. But, if you are a hard-core collector like me, this 17th figure can be a real disaster. Not like what we were thinking, buying as a box would almost never let us make the "unofficial full set". If there also is a 17th figure in set 2, then what should we do... Quote
Fugazi Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Indeed, it would seem this surprise 17th minifig isn't included in every box (WhiteFang for instance would have found one). A chrome Stormtrooper however is quite an uninteresting surprise, and I wouldn't bother looking for a barcode different from the other 16 just to secure one. It's hard to see, is it any different from the Stormtrooper promotion in TRU? Quote
Siegfried Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 No, there's no extra figure. It's that simple. The fig that is shown at 2:38 or so is a stupid trick. Why is this a fake? It makes no sense to hide something like this, and LucusArts wouldn't allow it anyway. All right people, unlike the information what we used to have, it is proven that there actually is a rare hidden figure in set 8683. Proof? Did I miss something? Quote
Pooh Posted May 11, 2010 Author Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) is it any different from the Stormtrooper promotion in TRU? Not exactly, this one does not contain a gun , just kidding. But someone like me who does not own it, this can be a great chance to obtain one. Proof? Did I miss something? True, it is just a video and cannot really be called as a proof. Sorry for the bad word choice. But this is just for your information, nothing is really confirmed yet :) Edited May 11, 2010 by Pooh Quote
Siegfried Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 But this is just for your information, nothing is really confirmed yet :) Well thanks for sharing... but my advice is to see that as a joke. One Bigfoot sighting doesn't prove much. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Well, it's way too late for April Fool's eh ? if you pay close attention to the video clip - it cuts into right when the guy is already halfway through the packet ? So the jury is out, until more chrome figures appear like this, then yes it's fake ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote

People think if they can start the next internet rumor, then they are cool. Sadly they are mistaken. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 You are right 'Big Cam', a poor joke - but the internet is full of such things - but unlike the guy that scored 3 chrome Vaders from 2 battlepacks last year - that was different again. I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Rapseflaps Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 The uploader mentions the stormtrooper wasn't really included in a reply to one of the comments on the video. I think we can take this as a joke. Quote
prateek Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Look in the comments section. The uploader clearly says that the Stormtrooper isn't in the box (although it's in German ) Quote
Pooh Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 I bought 2 sets of 8683, which were both MISB for sure. The first set's combination was just as same as the other sets, 4 Cavemen 3 Cheerleaders 3 Circus Clowns 4 Cowboys 5 Deep Sea Divers 5 Demolition Dummies 4 Forestmen 4 Magicians 5 Ninja 3 Nurses 4 Robots 3 Skaters 4 Spacemen 3 Super Wrestler 3 Tribal Hunters 3 Zombies While the first one was like this, second one had a little difference, 4 Cavemen 3 Cheerleaders 3 Circus Clowns 4 Cowboys 5 Deep Sea Divers 5 Demolition Dummies 4 Forestmen 4 Magicians 3 Ninja 3 Nurses 4 Robots 4 Skaters 4 Spacemen 3 Super Wrestler 3 Tribal Hunters 4 Zombies which allowed me extra skater and zombie, but loss of 2 ninjas. This is not only a problem of mine, actually there is one more person who reported the same ratio as my second set. Personally, ninja is my favorite, so the second set is not my favorite combination. But it still gave me one more skate board and zombie... I'm wondering if there is anyone who got the same combination as mine. Quote
Big Cam Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 very interesting, so there is not a set standard, but a close standard that apparently the numbers won't scew too far from. I think 3 complete sets is going to be a given in these boxes. Quote
Pooh Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 (edited) All right people, I have posted some abnormal combination of 8683 that had one more of each zombie and skater, but had two less ninjas. But still, there were 3 sets in the box. Unlike this circumstance, I got another report from a reliable source that only 1 set was made from a MISB 8683. The list of the figures is 4 Cavemen 3 Cheerleaders 3 Circus Clowns 4 Cowboys 7 Deep Sea Divers 5 Demolition Dummies 4 Forestmen 4 Magicians 5 Ninja 1 Nurse 4 Robots 3 Skaters 4 Spacemen 3 Super Wrestler 3 Tribal Hunters 3 Zombies which is like 2 extra divers but 2 less nurses. So, it can be said that at least 1 set is guaranteed, but not 3! Keep bricking everyone. Edited May 14, 2010 by Pooh Quote
Big Cam Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Hmm, with this data assumignit's true, it's very probable that one set is not guaranteed? I wish LEGO would give us an official word on this. Quote

I hope at least one set is guaranteed... If it's not, it will be sad to whom that got that set I'm pretty sure that TLC will have a heavy mouth about this... 8683 is meant to be chosen randomly at the first place. Rapseflaps Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Oh look, another 8683 thread... I'm glad I just ordered the 16 specific minifigures from an online store. It may have cost a little extra, but at least I'll have the complete set without all the hassle some people seem to be going through. Quote

Rapseflaps Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Brickshop.nl. It comes at a price though. If you want to order a specific minifig, be prepared for a 50% price increase. Still, that gives you an exclusive minifig for the price of a regular impulse set, so I'm happy with that deal. I just ordered all 16 minifigs in one go. Unfortunately for most members here, it appears they do not ship to the United States. Quote
Piratedave84 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Where might have this been? I'm looking for a single set as well. Several stores on Bricklink offer the full set, search for 8683 and the last few pages are all complete sets both opened polybags (reliable) and unopened (somewhat reliable). http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=11&...mp;searchSort=P hope it helps Quote
Siegfried Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Oh look, another 8683 thread... My thoughts exactly. I've merged your other two topics into this one. Please keep all your 8683 related conversations in here. Quote
Pooh Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Another report! 4 Cavemen 3 Cheerleaders 4 Circus Clowns 4 Cowboys 6 Deep Sea Divers 3 Demolition Dummies 4 Forestmen 4 Magicians 4 Ninja 3 Nurses 4 Robots 3 Skaters 4 Spacemen 3 Super Wrestler 3 Tribal Hunters 4 Zombies Quote
