Lego "Optimus Prime" Transformer by Chris Roach

Here's Chris Roach's new, improved "Version 2" of his amazing Lego "Optimus Prime" Transformer: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/201803 . This Model Team-type MOC shows a robot converting into a truck. The Lego Digital Designer (LDD) .lxf BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS are available so that you can make your own. and then ..... i noticed that this was version 2, he's up to version 4 of the design!

Too bad there aren't LDD files for the other models and the trailer. Can't have Optimus Prime without the trailer!

Chris Roach mentions about the trailer in his youtube vid of Optimus Prime and I found this:

I actually would prefer if he kept making more LDD files of his other creations than to refine Optimus Prime :)

I think I read somewhere that he wasn't going to make much LDD files because it lacked a lot of pieces that he used to build with. I think he just hasn't found out about the Universal mode yet :)

Not to take anything away from Chris Roach, I even bought parts to build his design, but this version of Optimus Prime has got to be one of the nicest looking ones out there:

@j3tang: Yes, the Optimus Prime model you pointed out above is very nice. Its creator (Orion Pax) has posted one picture on Flickr and 12 on MOCpages ( http://mocpages.com/moc.php/194355 ), but I'm not sure if there are enough pictures to be able to build it. Orion Pax didn't provide any Building Instructions like Chris Roach's Optimus Prime. Maybe they're similar in design....

Maybe! But I still like working out my designs the old fashioned way...Trial and error! But the LDD Universe mode may change that!

Just to clarify LDD version 2 is indeed my upgrade to my only Optimus Prime LDD model to date made last year (2009). This came about because I wanted to design a simpler Prime model for my God son's to play with using parts availble from pick-a-brick. Optimus Prime Version 4 is the fourth incarnation of a model of Prime I built 3 or 4 years ago before I new about LDD and is ever evolving! The LDD Version 2 is actally newer than my Optimus Prime Version 4. Confused yet?
