DLuders Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Here's Chris Roach's new, improved "Version 2" of his amazing Lego "Optimus Prime" Transformer: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/201803 . This Model Team-type MOC shows a robot converting into a truck. The Lego Digital Designer (LDD) .lxf BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS are available so that you can make your own. Download the free LDD program from http://ldd.lego.com , and check out the LDD Index thread http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...mp;#entry718480 for tips. This MOC will be a favorite for kids to build! Chris Roach wrote, "After many discussions with my fellow builders on the online community here is an upgrade to my Optimus Prime LDD offering of 2009. Updated May 2010. Here is my new, G1, fully transformable, LDD Optimus Prime Version 2. Most notable changes from Ver. 1 are the super articulated shoulder joints, thicker legs and new grill and bumper design. "Check out my comparisson's of my Version 1 and 2 LDD Prime models, accessory ideas and how to transform him at: .""Download the file and enjoy building this creation. It'll cost you just over $100 in new bricks from the Lego Shop at Home, Pick a Brick or Design by me. Whatever they are calling it now." Quote
Milan Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Size (780x800) is slightly bigger than allowed, sorry... Quote
TechnicJuan Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 That Camaro is awesome. The robot looks a little funky though, but still awesome. Quote
j3tang Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 just ordered parts for Optimus Prime :D and then ..... i noticed that this was version 2, he's up to version 4 of the design! Too bad there aren't LDD files for the other models and the trailer. Can't have Optimus Prime without the trailer! Quote
DLuders Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 .... i noticed that this was version 2, he's up to version 4 of the design! We'll have to check Chris Roach's MOCPages gallery http://www.mocpages.com/folder.php/48551 often to see if he keeps refining his Lego Optimus Prime transformer. Maybe he'll post LDD building instructions for his Version 4 MOC sometime. To see what it looks like, go to http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/138937 for more pictures like this: . j3tang Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Too bad there aren't LDD files for the other models and the trailer. Can't have Optimus Prime without the trailer! actually i retract the trailer statement Chris Roach mentions about the trailer in his youtube vid of Optimus Prime and I found this: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/202708 I actually would prefer if he kept making more LDD files of his other creations than to refine Optimus Prime :) I think I read somewhere that he wasn't going to make much LDD files because it lacked a lot of pieces that he used to build with. I think he just hasn't found out about the Universal mode yet :) Edited May 19, 2010 by j3tang Quote
Big Cam Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 That is awesome, I can't believe it actually transforms too! Quote
j3tang Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Not to take anything away from Chris Roach, I even bought parts to build his design, but this version of Optimus Prime has got to be one of the nicest looking ones out there: There are other Transformer creations in his Flickr account as well, but something else caught my eye too: Oh, the above version of Prime is made by Orion Pax (aka Alexander Schranz) and his work has been profiled in Brick Journal. Edited May 21, 2010 by j3tang Quote
DLuders Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 @j3tang: Yes, the Optimus Prime model you pointed out above is very nice. Its creator (Orion Pax) has posted one picture on Flickr and 12 on MOCpages ( http://mocpages.com/moc.php/194355 ), but I'm not sure if there are enough pictures to be able to build it. Orion Pax didn't provide any Building Instructions like Chris Roach's Optimus Prime. Maybe they're similar in design.... Quote

j3tang Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) and on the topic of Transformers, it would pretty awesome if someone could mod the Lego set 4953 Fast Flyers into a transformable Starscream :) Edited May 23, 2010 by j3tang Quote

BWTMT AKA CHRIS ROACH Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Just to clarify LDD version 2 is indeed my upgrade to my only Optimus Prime LDD model to date made last year (2009). This came about because I wanted to design a simpler Prime model for my God son's to play with using parts availble from pick-a-brick. Optimus Prime Version 4 is the fourth incarnation of a model of Prime I built 3 or 4 years ago before I new about LDD and is ever evolving! The LDD Version 2 is actally newer than my Optimus Prime Version 4. Confused yet? just ordered parts for Optimus Prime :Dand then ..... i noticed that this was version 2, he's up to version 4 of the design! Too bad there aren't LDD files for the other models and the trailer. Can't have Optimus Prime without the trailer! Quote
