dakota_bones Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hey guys im new to this forum site but i have ideas for custom lego accessories. I created a prototype for the firearm Ruger Super Redhawk, but was politely declined by Brickarms. The reason being is that Will Chapman, the founder and creator of BrickArms weapons and industry, prides himself with creating all of the BrickArms accessories from his own imagination. I have no idea where i would get ahold of a pressure injection molding machine. I would greatly appreciate it if you could point me in the direction of anyone you might think could help me with this. Please reply as a private message so i can sort through the replies. Many thanks! ~Dakota_bones@yahoo.com Quote

Siegfried Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 pm? please elaborate. Internal EB messaging. But you've given your EMail so that's probably what you actually meant. I've re-named your topic so people don't have to read it first. Quote

Siegfried Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 so do you possibly know where i could start? It's not that hard, but I'm feeling generous. These guys sell one, this guy made one and here's a whole forum. Quote

Siegfried Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 umm i hate to be bothersome but i dont have the money required to purchase that. Sad to say custom work is expensive. Making the mould itself will cost several hundred; how is your prototype made? In any case my only advice is ask other customisers, such as http://www.arealightcustoms.com/. (Since this is moving more and more towards custom work, I'm moving this to the custom forum. I probably should have put it there in the first place... ) Quote

But you just asked where you could find a pressure injection molding machine. What were you asking if not this? They're not cheap, of course. If you were looking to open you're own store, I would try to do the best you can with what you have in designing the parts, and showcase them to see how well liked they are. Before you spend thousands of dollars making them. Quote
Davey Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 You might also want to check out Protomold in Maple Plain, MN. They do short run prototype work and have reasonable tooling costs. Regardless, plan to spend a couple thousand dollars to get some parts. The biggest portion of the expense is in the tooling. The material and labor for molding is cheap in comparison.
