Thinking about the color brown, it would be nice to see a faction called something like The Peasant's Army.

These guys aren't the really rich knights, so all of their prints involve some fraying leather and worn out armor, and all of their structures are made from wood, hence brown. I'd love whole Castle built to look wooden and flimsyish, that would be something new and cool.

Birdmen.

Sort of based on mountainous terrain, with eagles/falcons as their symbol. Of course, I'd like giant eagles for them to fly on, but that would only have happened in Fantasy.

What a great idea mate. Its fantastic. I would go nuts with purchasing those sets. Currently, I am in the process of making birdman tribe. The pics will be up soon. I would not mind centaurs either. But like you said this would be great for fantasy. As for Kingdoms, Id like to see a barbaric tribe, something like scots from brave heart.

What a fantastic idea! Indeed that will give you both a fresh-looking army and a source of peasants and regular city folk. :classic:

I was also thinking; why not add a Spanish faction; it was pretty solid as a player in European affairs, and has the Eastern feel without the culture clash. We could finally see a lot of that conquistador helmet!

I'm all for expanding the Kingdoms line, but I would like the added factions to fit in with the existing line. Samurai, Vikings and Conquistadors while all quite cool don't really fit in with the 12th century Medieval European theme. I could see expanding south into Spain or the Middle East (give us some of those amazing Prince of Persia elements) after the PoP line dries up, but Conquistadors are about 400 years too modern. The morion (conquistador helmet) was worn all across Europe but it wasn't really until the 1600s that these became common.

Personally I would love to see the forestmen return; abiet with more individuality. While it seems to make sense to have a large collection of generic soldiers, I would love to see individual outlaws, similar to the Dark Forest line that was cut so short in the late 90s. Give me bandits wearing brown, green, dark red; hoods, hats and cloaks. Heck, parody Robin Hood, Little John, Will Scarlet if you wish. From there we could move south towards the Middle East as the PoP line will probably done. I really don't care which direction LEGO goes so long as the factions we get fit reasonably with the existing line. Factions like Birdmen probably would fit better in a revived fantasy line. I just want castle to evolve naturally like it did in the 1980s.

A non fantasy era benign kingdom. traders not fighters. artisans and courtiers. rich and benevolent. good to the peasants in the village below the castle. the only threat being the evil wife of the king who is a secret sourceress. and commands a black demon that is summoned using the ancient book of incatations she keeps locked in the highest tower. a black demon with ADHD and antisocial tendencies. with glow in the dark ghosts but a brand new sculped ghosty shape with arms and a clear lightsaber type stand so it can 'float'.

The castle would be white with dark orange and mid nougat roof sections and lots of gold and silver touches. big fountain in the castle courtyard. ivy up the walls. flowers at the base of the towers. large windows and a minstrel gallery. would come with the king and his wife, minstrels, two footmen and a hunting dog.

Other sets could include:

River barge with a jetty. bargemaster, kings wife and oarsmen.

Horse stables. with pitchfork, hay wagon and Ostler minifig. plus two grey dappled horses.

Windmill and cottage. Miller and wife who is a baker. lots of pale yellow, tan and dark orange baguettes and a new cottage bun loaf piece.

Small modular peasant cottage. allowing for easy village building with generic peasant minifigs.

Falconers lodge with parrot painted up like hawks and falcons. possibly also an owl.

New animals assortment with Deer/stag, Badger, rabbit, red squirrel, fox, bull, sheep/goats, peacock.

Minifig assortment with courtiers, courtisans and serving staff.

Minifig assortment with the prince, paiges and ceremonial guards.

Village green with large tree, well and stone circle. kings wife and demon with terrified peasant weilding a pitchfork

but none of it girly or fairytale. not a hint of bellville about it. just a quaint quiet kingdom about to have hell unleashed upon them. :knight:

I agree more brown, green, black in the color schemes. I'd like to see made a scottish type of faction, a long the lines of "braveheart."

Nonetheless, MORE civilians type of structures. I have too many soldiers, and few civilians.

Alternatively, wolfpack and forest men/peasants village set up with meeting/celebration hall, village elders grander cottage, watermill with attached cottage, basic cottage/smallholding, windmill, woodland cottage suitable witch/herbalist or retired wizard willing to do consultation work/druid, tavern, boat builders yard and hut, woodland treetops hideout/dwelling, Standing stones monument and druid with couple joining in betrothal.

New thatched roof, creeping ivy, mistletoe and vegetable pieces.

Dark brown, reddish brown, dark orange, tan, nougat and dark green for minifigs with a splash of dark red.

Buildings made in dark tan, white and black.

Barbarian hordes with Boar insignia. Maybe a Bear faction to fight them?

Steve

Not realyl a faction, but i wanna see civilians so badly! And of course many civilian sets, the imagination is endless when thinking of that! TLG did the first step with the MMV set, and we get a pig in the new advent calendar, so bring it on next year!

Jules Verne-ian heroes and villains. With Nemo and Robur-like characters and their accompanying crews manning ships reminiscent of the Nautilus, Albatross and Terror. Basically, gilded age pirate-y sci-fi. Orwellian time machines would be cool too. Stuff reminiscent of Doc Brown's time machine train at the end of Back to the Future III.

Huh. I thought I was in the pirate forum. Sorry. My mistake.

In the kingdom area, I'd like to see the Viking line extended. (Unless it was a total failure, seeing as there are no new viking sets.) I'd also like to see more fudal Japan and China. From what I've seen, the ninja stuff looks cool, but I'd like to see shogun palaces and ronin minisets.

I'd love to see another fantasy race. I've wanted fantasy since 1980. The run that finished just wasn't enough. I do admit that the green wizard (and eventualy blue wizard) in the current line are fantasy. I imagine the green wizard's pet dragon is fantasy as well. Either way, I'd eventualy like to see another fantasy faction.

I really don't care which fantasy race, I'll by it. Centaurs, werwolves, lizard men, or anything!

Yes indeed, the run was all too short for fantasy, but I highly doubt we will get any extreme fantasy factions in this line just look at the old castle sets; you had dragons, yes, and there were ghosts and sure there was magic but it was all done in a very King Arthur type of way (very background and rooted in folklore as opposed to Tolkien fantasy) :sceptic:

I rather like the design of the new castle sets though, and it seems the overwhelming opinion is that with more civilians and common folk structure this line could hit it off like never before.

I don't think they'll bring in vikings; its very old school proper castle factions so you need proper "kingdoms". What I can see coming back is the feel of the "horde" army; peasant and mercs all draped in brown, and maybe some sort of other darker color, with improvised, rusted weapons, and a mish-mash of insignias and banners. :classic:

As far as other elements of fantasy such as a monster army, its not gonna happen, and we also aren't going to see any faction based solely on ships, but a nice galley would be fantastic! I do want to see a new dragon model however! Not quite the static 90's model, but not the over-the-top fantasy model.

So far it looks like this:

I really can't wait till any news breaks!
