BlueBard Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) Hi everybody! It has been too long since the last time I post a proper MOC ( job+ exams + university works doesn't lend much time for MOCing ) but finally I got a bit of free time and here it is, the seventh buildingfor my City Display: the Green Cafe! I know I already had a topic for these MOCs but finally I decided to open a newone as it would be easier to find it instead of looking for the last update in the old one. As usual the whole gallery can be seen here (flickr) or (more) here (brickshelf, when moderated). I hope you like it! Comments are welcome! Edited May 16, 2010 by BlueBard Quote
prateek Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Great job! Wasn't this supposed to be a Starbucks, or is this the wrong one? Either way, it looks awesome. I love the awnings, and the red and black really contrast well with the green Quote
BlueBard Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Thanks! Wasn't this supposed to be a Starbucks, or is this the wrong one? Actually, I had the idea of "green+B&W" because of Starbucks colour pattern but I never said it would be one! Quote
Lord Arjay Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Very nice BlueBard! As prateek noted the colour scheme used is very eye-catching. Lovely design, well done! Quote
mikey Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 this looks great, and you have filled it full of life. the artist upstairs is a great touch. but just one question, why did you choose to use a flesh face for the waitress serving at the counter? Quote
BlueBard Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Thanks! but just one question, why did you choose to use a flesh face for the waitress serving at the counter? Why not? I like mixing all kind of Lego skins Quote

lightningtiger Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 AWESOME 'BlueBard' just AWESOME from you again ! Beautiful green building with excellent details right down to the small exhaust fan on the rear of the building ! Nice minifigs too - Mr Krabs turned human ! Great work always from you and I'm a conformist! 'BlueBard' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
BlueBard Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Thanks for your comments! Nice minifigs too - Mr Krabs turned human ! I just loved the "fatty" looking this torso has Quote
Redcross Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 For me your talent lies in bold use of colour, that may not be thought of as obvious choices in combination, yet they work brilliantly. I think the black and white stripes are what really bring it together, once again seemingly simple yet so striking. Your building style is very inspiring and I hope to put away the tan and grey bricks for a while. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Good job! Great design and great techiques! The interior is also very nice, and of course I like the fifth picture a lot Quote

Ah, another victim of the grey/tan mania! The interior is also very nice, and of course I like the fifth picture a lot Of course! What's best in life than a gigantic croissant? Quote
The Penguin Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Great work as usual, Blue Bard! ) I always love your highly detailed work, done with such care. mautara Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Well done! I like most the condensing on the back: a nice and new touch. Quote

spade450 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Great work, as always! Love the color scheme. Lots of detail packed into a what, 10 stud wide building? Looks bigger than it is. Also like the hairy fig in the business suit -- Jerry Garcia sells out! Quote
Rick Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 One of your best yet Bluebard. I really like the color scheme and the detailed interiors you managed to fit on a 16 x 32 base plate. Quote

BlueBard Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Thank you for your nice comments, people! I always love your highly detailed work, done with such care. In fact, it's the details that make a good MOCer an ingenious one. Thanks, TP! and that big smiley faced mini-fig cracks me up....he's like 'LOOK EVERYBODY I GOT A JUMBO CROISSANT!!!' Who doesn't, right? Lots of detail packed into a what, 10 stud wide building? Looks bigger than it is. Also like the hairy fig in the business suit -- Jerry Garcia sells out! Yep, that was the effect I was looking for this MOC. Actually, in the first design it was just 8 wide and it was going to be a kiosk... About the hairy "businessman" it was a last hour incorporation, I was just tryning some new combinations for the new Mfs elements and what can I say? I loved this guy! And no, I was not thinking at Jerry Garcia at all One of your best yet Bluebard. I really like the color scheme and the detailed interiors you managed to fit on a 16 x 32 base plate. I'm allways glad to be blogged at CT! Quote
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Well done! One of those few green ones that work really well! Quote
