This is something I got done this weekend. I'll probably do one more in a month or two, without the guest star. I hope you can enjoy, and relate.

I'd post a bigger link, but it seems this is the max of Flickr and Photobucket :hmpf_bad:

 Ha-ha-ha-ha! ) So true! :cry_happy:

I guess every AFOL goes through that. When my nephew was younger, I used to take him with me to toy shops, getting him some small SW set, but bying, say, Batcave for myself!

Great work, def! )

Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) :classic:

Great work! Who did you use as inspiration for that character? Indeed, so recognizable, except for the SW frenzy that is. I didn't have a 'Bricky' on my shoulder yet, but now I bet I'll start visualizing him in toy stores.

Nice one def  I think it was either you or Cloney I was telling to buy Endor with the $80 gift (throw in the extra 20) Actually come to think it was Cloney, but you have summed up my situation just as well.

Great stuff and nice illustration too.

I just like the concept of a corporate spokesman who bullies people, and also being bullied by one's conscious. Brickie could very well have been a real spokes-character in somewhere between the 1950s and the 1980s.

A year ago, I knew I'd hit the point of 'a reasonable amount of Lego', and I just need to find humor in it now since I haven't stopped buying.

Indeed, so recognizable, except for the SW frenzy that is.

It's been over a year since my Star Wars obsession, but habits are hard to break.

This is great, i hope you find the time to continue a little. The whole concept of a 'reasonable' amount of Lego is so relative, at first i was shocked when i realised that I had more Lego at the age of 30, when i did at the age of 12. But i justified that to myself in the sense that every kid now, has more Lego than I did at their age.

But now I have more Lego than my niece and nephews, possibly their collections combined. Not quite sure how I justify that to myself yet, but am deffinetly working on it. This site helps in that respect, there are far more crazier people than me, my collection is insignificant when compared to other AFOL. Surely that gives justification to not stop yet...

You didn't like your sets at Christmas?!

I loved them, but I didn't have time to enjoy them... I bought the Home One set too, and I drunkenly threw it together while jet lagged...

One a month is the correct pace.

I really wish someone would discover you and give you a comic strip deal.

Me too :cry_sad: I actually had a chance ten years ago in Toronto, but I proved unreliable. I couldn't produce quality on a deadline. Just when the mood hits me.

Great artwork and very true! Even so I don't care about admitting that I'm the one with the biggest interest... and I often go to the LEGO lanes by myself or without the kids.

I think I'm almost there. I'm at around 150,000 so I can be a bit more picky these days. However I'm a real sucker for discount LEGO.

IMHO the good thing about a LEGO collection is compared to other hobbies, like cars, it can be quite cheap. Also, if you tire of LEGO (is that possible?) you should be able to sell your collection at at least 50% of what you paid for. Try doing that with a car.

You've got the skills that's for sure, but yeah, to be professional you'll need speed and consistency as well. I've always been surprised at how fast Manga artists can churn stuff out.

It's not looking and buying Lego that embarrasses me, it's going and looking every two weeks, when it only changes every two months

2 weeks? I check at least every week in almost every store!

Superb comic def!

I really love all of your renditions of LEGO sets; even though they're in the background, everything is instantly recognizable.

Do they really have the new Star Wars sets in already, or is that just wishful thinking on your part?

They're out in June, but it's always good to write ahead of schedule

Amazing work def!

In the second last panel you're cuddling the set avoiding stretches on the box or dents.

Save The Box, Save the World.

I love the brick* and i think we all have an angelic red brick on a shoulder and a devilish wallet on the other! :cry_sad:

* A 2x4 red brick is The Brick.

At first I thought the endor set was $12.998, then I realized it's probably in Yen. 12,998

If that's true then it's still $140, $40 more than the regular US price. I hope you don't have to pay those kinds of premiums?

I love this!

Bricki reminds me of my girlfriend... she's allways with me at the toy shop (even went to legoland with me!) and when i'm at the shelves, holding a box in my hands like: "I need this! I dont know for what, but i need this! Awwww, its 100 Euros ..." then she tells me: "Come on, just buy it! Last 10-20€ sets did not satisfy you!" ...

Maybe she just wants to get out of the Store "-.-

I have to say, def, this comic doesn't really hit close to home. It crashes right through the roof into the living room. Great work! You have some real drawing talent.

It takes me forever to talk myself into buying a new set. Fortunately I haven't seen any talking Lego brick apparitions in the aisle with me. Yet. :look:

I'm a little divided on the benefit of having a baby to disguise yourself with, though. For me, a baby would just distract what is a very serious ritual of deliberating on what set(s) to buy.

Haha! Funny, but true. Possibly one of the biggest dilemmas of a Lego fan.

Nicely done. I really like your art style to begin with, but the way you colored everything in calm tones to highlight "Bricky" was great. Also, huge props for detailing those Lego set boxes. Instantly recognizable, and very accurate. Is that a Pirate ship in the first panel?

I'm not an AFOL but I have a Bar Mitzvah and got tons of money. Now I want to buy tons of LEGO sets but I spent too much money and have to cut back. I'm going to sell things to earn a profit so that I can buy new LEGO but for now I'm stuck. I'm a Slave to the Brick too :).

I'm aiming for a big job as an adult so I won't be it's slave, I'll be it's master buying tons of LEGO sets but still having money left over.

Thanks. If there's one word to describe my comic style, I'd say melancholy. No matter how busy a panel is, everyone is chilled out.
